  1. Previously in this thread I was experiencing trouble with my subs (no rumble). A little embarrassing, but I just realized that my subs were set to "no sound"! I went through the set up again and figured out how to set the levels. I always heard the subs when the auto setup went around the speakers -- thus I thought it was working. Now I am happy.
  2. Actually I don't think Emotiva has any plans for an XPA-7, they are going to soon release a new series with the XPR-7 which will have seven channels at 350w XPR-7: 350 watts RMS @ 8 ohms per channel, all channels driven 600 watts RMS @ 4 ohms per channel, all channels driven. Projected price $1999.00 XPR-5: 400 watts RMS @ 8 ohms per channel, all channels driven 800 watts RMS @ 4 ohms per channel, all channels driven. Projected price $1699.00 XPR-2: 600 watts RMS @ 8 ohms per channel, all channels driven 1200 watts RMS @ 4 ohms per channel, all channels driven. Projected price $1499.00 XPR-1:1000 watts RMS @ 8 ohms per channel, all channels driven 2000 watts RMS @ 4 ohms per channel, all channels. Projected price $1299.0 How soon?
  3. Is the UPA7 enough to power the 5 surrounds in a 7.2 setup? Maybe down the road, I'll get the XPA2 and use the UPA7 for the surrounds.
  4. I'll find some time to play around with it. The people on this forum have been especially helpful in making me more knowledgeable on how to set things up properly. I found a deal on these speakers a while ago and am just finding out what I got myself into!
  5. Been too busy to take it out -- need to rewire everything and been waiting for time. Jumped on the sale since everyone on this forum was raving out the unit and for the cost, I didn't think I could go wrong. Now hearing that it may not be enough power... then might as well return it and get what is needed.
  6. What is an example of "300 WPC pro amps"? What about two UPA7's -- one driving the front 3 and the other driving the surrounds? What do you recommend if I decide to go outside of Emotiva? I'm realizing this alittle late -- as I have the UPA7 sitting in a box in my media room (upgrading from an AVR).
  7. Doesn't sound like the UPA7 is going to be what I was hoping for a THX 7.2 set up...
  8. Will Emo ever have an XPA-7 amp? How far off?
  9. I just learned that the RSF shelves are compatible with the RE series (even though it is not listed anywhere).
  10. I am looking for an Omnimount 5U shelf for an RE18 rack. I have looked everywhere including ebay (only shelves I find are products for RSF units). anyone know where I can pick up one of these shelves? I just sent a note to the company asking for assistance, however they will likely direct me to a local dealer that will need to order.
  11. thanks for the research. I also saw that you have the furman unit -- how do you like it? any regrets spending the cash on it?
  12. I posted this in anouther thread, but why do people gravitate to the Integra 9.9 versus the 40.1?
  13. well, i need to find some of your words because i plugged mine in, hooked up the cornwalls but could really tell a difference. perhaps my ears are gone. Did you mean to say that you could NOT tell a difference? Could you tell a difference -- wording seems mixed?
  14. Even if you run the Audssey setup, you still can switch between the Dolby versions and THX... right?
  15. When Integra is mentioned, it seems that people always reference the 9.8 or 9.9 model -- why not the 40.1 or 40.2 models?
  16. If I have the THX Ultra 2 system... how big of a deal is it that I get a processor that has THX Ultra 2 certification? My current AVR does not have it -- when I upgrade do I need to only look at units that are certified?

    Amp Cables

Ahhhhhh -- this should have been common sense! A little embarrassed...

    Amp Cables

If you had one processor and two amps -- how would you connect them all?

    Amp Cables

how do you connect two amps together? and then to the processor / receiver?

Rich Guy -- fyi.. placed the order with proaudiola...
  21. so -- my AVR could be the issue? A new processor could give me better bass? I thought the bass was driven by the KA-1000 amp... Tell us the size/volume of your room. The most common causes of "lack of LF wow" are not enough LF energy from subs, phase issues between subs (impossible with your subs), and improper bass management/room correction. My room size is similar to the other poster -- 16' x 22'. My TV is in the middle of the 16' wall pointing to the couch and then the subs are on opposite ends of the same 16' wall facing forward. I learned in another thread to move the subs together (haven't done this yet).

  23. I see a few guys on the Emo Lounge that have gone to the 7005 after the UMC-1 wasn't to their liking. My thoughts are this, some of those guys switched when the UMC-1 sucked. No point in splitting hairs, it did suck. I passed on it on the original preorder and ended up buying it later. But it has been brought up to speed now and with another firmware on the way I'm hoping it gets even better! Secondly the 7005 costs twice as much as a UMC-1. What more do I have to say? I doubt its twice as good. As I've said time and time again its the law of diminishing rate of return. Only you can decide what value you put on the level of refinement the 7005 would give you. If anyone decides paying twice as much to get it is worth it I applaud them and want to hear their review of the unit. But for me I can't justify paying twice as much for a pre/pro that isn't twice as good. To each their own, but I'd never laugh at anyone who bought the 7005 as its a great unit and Marantz as a whole makes great products. I'd just rather spend the difference in price betweent the two on something that will make a bigger difference in my system. I feel like I am stuck in the middle: 1. get the UMC now (with faults and maybe right before a price decrease when the XMC launches). 2. wait for XMC (likely delayed long time, first pass without trial and error, etc and maybe a price increase). 3. spend more for the marantz (pay a high price to enjoy now, but know that it works). 4. other. I can keep using my AVR as a preout, but looking forward to my first separates experience...
  24. Do you agree with this statement? You can't go wrong with a Marantz AV7005.
  25. I just read this thread and was looking at the sub options. Currently run the Ultra II setup with the system subs, however don't feel I am getting the "wow" sound. I currently use a Pioneer Elite vsx 54, but just got the UPA-7 on closeout in an attempt to upgrade to separates. Was planning to keep using the Pioneer until I decide what to get for a pro/pre. I would like to get the Emotiva XMC when it comes out to match the amp, but also looking at the Marantz models. Will the upgrade to separates alone help my "wow" factor? Specifically with the subs?
