Klipsch never makes a bad sounding speaker, no matter what model it is. I'm very happy with my RF-7's and Klipsch makes good quality products so I do hope the RF-83 are sucessful for Klipsch, hope the whole new line is sucessful for them because they deserve it to be with the quality they put into each product for the money!

Wow, you don't have to be rude to her. I'm not having any problems with my RF-7's and there are many folks running the RF-7's successfully but no need to start getting ugly to her. I'm surprised cuz your usually a pretty easy goin guy here.

This is totally untrue. There are so many people running the RF-7's with the Rotel RB-1080 and RB-1090 amps that I've read over and over in reviews that all say how great they are together. This is also a review a guy did on the Klipschorn's that talk about how well it went with his Rotel RB-1090 so I just think Jay doesn't realize that they do go well together.
I'm running McIntosh with my RF-7's but I have heard a RF-7 setup with a Rotel RB-1090 and it sounded as good as my McIntosh setup!

If your that worried about shipping damage, than do like my Uncle did when he bought his RF-7's, rent a small U-Haul truck, pick up and bring'em home, he had to get his from a dealer out of state because no local dealer had them in stock. If you do ship, put insurance on it so if it does get damage, you won't have to pay for it. There are other really good shipping companies that take much better care than UPS (United Punching Service).

what are you running for amplification? preamp? cd?
Hi, I'm running McIntosh Amp and Pre, the MC500 and C100. The CD Player is Marantz SA-11S1 Reference, and the IC are Ultra Reference, and the speaker cable is Ultra-Fat Reference III bi-wire.
I've been under the impression I over paid for the speaker cable but the hifi guy talked me into it, saying it makes a difference. I like how well the cables are made and the easy connect with the banana plug and lock, but thought it was probably just a gimmick. Now that I have a 2nd pair of Klipsch RF-7 speakers, I switched between both speakers while playing, the 2nd pair has just regular 10g. copper ox.free wire and the 1st pair the Ultra-Fat Reference III bi-wire cable.
I'm hearing a difference, the regular wire sounds more narrow and much more forward, the reference cable sounds more wide sound, more over-all silk smooth, more well rounded bass and tighter with more grip, overall music has a tad more detail, easier to hear, with more pleasing vocal clarity. I'm really shocked, I actually here a difference. Now I'm going to have to buy another expensive reference cable for the 2nd pair RF-7 when I get my second amp for it, now I'm gonna
have to spend more $$$ again because I've gotten used to the nice cable sound and I don't care
for the more narrow and forward sound of the regular wire. I guess some cables do make a difference in sound! It helps me get
more silky smooth sound from the RF-7's. Who would have thought, guess I just learned something new cause I thought it was just
a gimmick but maybe some cables really do what it says.

And the RF-7 is definitely NOT Klipsch's flagship speaker, nor was it ever. The mighty Klipschorn is their flagship, and always will be, whether they continue making them or not.
No matter how you feel about it, Klipsch ads do say the RF-7 are their flagship speaker, now
the RF-83 is. The RF-7 are the flagship for Reference line and the Klipschorn is the flagship
for the Heritage line.
I still prefer the RF-7 over the Klipschorn's and it's just all a matter of preference to ones own ears.
Neither is better or worse, just a different sound but very much both Klipsch sound.

I have the RF-7's and I don't have the problem you are having, my RF-7's sound
so stunning and real that people that hear them want a pair and my friend and
uncle did buy a pair and are very happy with the RF-7.All Klipsch speakers will reveal any weak point you have in your system, try
and figure out if any thing you have in your system may be causing the bright/harsh
sound, such as a DVD player, CD player, pre-amp. Some people don't feel Denon is
the best choice for running with Klipsch but some say they are fine but I wouldn't
know as I am running mine with McIntosh and I don't get any bright or harsh sound,
and my RF-7's are all original stock, no DeanG mod needed here!!! My RF-7's do,
and still do give me a tremendous WOW FACTOR every time I hear them and all I hear
is WOW, I want a pair any time some one hears my system. They love it, and so do
I. I just bought a 2nd pair a few weeks ago since I'm so happy with RF-7.
The key to Klipsch speakers is find equip with a warmer sound so it will not
produce the bright / harsh sound from the components. -

It's hard to say how available the RF-7's are because I went with my Uncle to 3 dealers to try and find him a pair. He has spent a good deal of time with my RF-7's and now wants a pair now that he has the money and heard that they are being discontinued.
We could not find a pair. The dealers told us that there is none to be had from where they can order them from and that they still haven't even got the new stuff in because it's later than they were told. So the dealer said no stock available and it's discontinued that they can't even order them if they wanted to. My Uncle isn't happy. We are going to try some dealers out of state and see what we can find because he wants a brand new pair and said he doesn't want to go for ebay or audiogon that he wants to pick them up so they don't get damage in shipping.
I talked to two people who compared the RF-7's to the RF-83's and they both prefered the RF-7's because they said the RF-83 are more tamer than the RF-7's so the center presence isn't as "I'm there" or as big (wide) of sound, but that the RF-83's are still very nice sounding speakers.
I checked online of a few popular places to get RF-7's and none of them have them either and show they no longer carry it.
I did see a refurb. RF-7's pair at the Klipsch Ebay Store.

Well that is why it's to each his or her own, what you like best is all that matters, yep.
I prefer the RF7's for my ears and now own two pairs. You probably will like the RF83's as folks that have demo
them are already saying they are more tame down than the RF7's, some folks like that and some don't like
that at all, end the end it be's all up to you, you are paying for them!
For myself, I'm sticking to my RF7's, that's why I got a second pair, lov'em for the awesome
sound ya know, but hey..... that doesn't mean I don't like the RF5, darn good Klipsch speaker too, just this
dude prefers the RF7's ya know, but I like the sonic sound of it, i like the RF5 sound too, just like the difference
in sound on RF7 for these Klips ears. Enjoys your RF5's, you will be happy with them,
or enjoy those new RF83's if you get a pair, sure ya gonna love it too, Klipsch always does good with all their
speakers ya know, you just picks your choice so to speak, wink....wink...I just think some dudes here think you sound like your putting the RF7's down in favor like the RF5's are better
and they just don't see it the way you do, or should I says.....hear it the way you do. Enjoy the sound, Klipsch is
great, gotta love'em!!! There is no perfect speaker but sure like how Klipsch speakers make me feel like it is than
other speakers! Heck, give me a pair of RF5's and I would enjoy them in my bedroom for both sounds. -

I'm running McIntosh 400wpc with my Klipsch RF-7's and the sound is incredible. Lots of chaps have told me that their Rotel RB-1080 and RB-1090 Amps sound as good as my setup, so I think Rotel is another way to go too, as long as you make sure it get a min. 200wpc as the RF-7's require that to get the incredible sound. You'll love the RF-7's, great speakers.

I've never had any clipping with the RF-7, not even before I got a nicer amp
for the RF-7's, but a better amp really does make a difference with the RF-7
to really sing at it's best. The slight lack of midrange went completely
away when I give it a much better amp and wattage.I was in the hifi store yesterday to check out what new and used equip he's
gotten in and we started talking about the Klipsch RF-7 and RF-83, he said
that he spent some time listening to them and this is what he thought:He liked the RF-83, sounded nice, smooth, accurate, and pleasing with good bass.
He said the horn has been tamed down from not being as in your face as the RF-7
that some may be disappointed in that who prefer it, he said he also found it
to be a little less involving than the RF-7's because of that. He said it really
reminded him more of the two brands that Klipsch really competes with.
He also said that the RF-83 sound a little more narrow than the RF-7, where
the RF-7 sound wider, louder. He said folks who want a more tamer sound
than the RF-7 will appreciate the RF-83, but the more in your face Klipsch
fans may not. He said his choice would be the RF-7 for his taste.
I have much of the same taste as he, we usually agree on every thing, so
I have the feeling, I'm gonna agree with him. He also said the singer center
position sounds more real on the RF-7, more warm/smooth on the RF-83, but
lacks the more "I'm There" sound of the RF-7.
He also said the RF-83 seems more amp friendly than the RF-7's. He didn't say
any thing about ever having clipping problems with the RF-7's.Hmmmm??? Interesting! It will be interesting for me to hear them for myself.
I love the "I'm There" feeling I get with the RF-7's and if it's less than
that in the RF-83, I'm not going to like that.Well my only complaint with the RF-7's are the cheap plastic feet, and the
pegs on the grills break too easy. The binding post are OK, but I much
prefer the high quality binding post that are now available on the RF-83,
nice to see Klipsch finally upgraded those binding post! -
Cor, I can understand some of your concerns but you will be happy to know
that Klipsch just released the new Cornwall III, that does have the horn
midrange you prefer. I've had a few Heritage speakers but I still prefer
the RF-7 overall than any of the Heritage line, but it is a good thing
that Klipsch gives you a choice between the two lines for personal prefs.I can't say I'm that crazy about the new looks of the RF-83, not that it's
bad in any way, just not what I would call an improvement visual wise from
the RF-7 but some here think the new design is just beautiful, again....
a personal pref. thing.As far as the sound goes, I should have reserved judement until I heard
for myself to be fair to Klipsch! I'm sure Klipsch has put a lot of hard
work into the new line, and taking into mind what the average Klipsch fan
would like to see in the new product. So, I'll wait to hear what others
think of the new RF-83, and give them a listen for myself when it comes
to my area. The real tricky part to that is, if the dealer will have them
setup right to really hear what they can do, as most dealers didn't have
the RF-7's setup with the right equipment for it to give its best!Just remember, it's best to keep an open-mind before final judement!
I have to remind myself of this too, because sometimes it can prove you
wrong if you don't!I'm hoping it's as good as Klipsch is saying. Good luck to you, and enjoy!

Sure happy I have two pairs now before they got discontinued!
Oh happy Day for having the RF-7 in my life, Oh not happy day for my favorite Klipsch
