  1. Don't fall asleep Michael...did you get my message about the incorrect email address on the payment?
  2. Sorry about the really bad lighting, excessive glare and graininess of the pictures. I do not have a digital camera and these were taken with a garbage disposable camera.
  3. The Thorens is spoken for but here's a picture anyway
  4. I can't seem to get any images to post...can some one help me out on this? Thanks.
  5. Thanks Michael, I hope you enjoy many years with the Thorens.
  6. Mike, Call me in the morning to set up the meeting. I should be in the ofice by 6am. If it is not too much trouble could you swing by my office for the hand off either on the way down or the return trip. I won't be able to leave the office tomorrow until 3-3:30...maybe later. I am expecting an emergency in the afternoon. I work just off John Young right by the SR528 exit. If not then I'll just take a late lunch and meet you somewhere in between. My numbers again Cell 352-223-5249 Work 407-248-4150 Thanks, Eric
  7. It is not in the original box...but it is well packed. If it is ok with Michael Colter I'll have my wife call him tonight after work to handle the transaction then we can get together Tomorrow or over the weekend. If Michael (please let me know Michael) does not want me to unpack the unit to take pictures I'll leave it alone.
  8. Hey Michael & Mike Yes it is in very nice condition. We do have Paypal but I don't know how to use it. Is it ok if I have my wife (Pattie) call you tommorrow to handle the transaction Michael C? Do you still want me to unpack the unit and take the pictures tonight?
  9. Mike...how is he going to ship me the money? Dosen't he want you to look at it first?
  10. The Thorens is pending Michael Colter's insepction.
  11. Mike Lindsey, It is first come first serve...if anyone wants any of the gear just email me what they want to pay for it and if it is reasonable...sold. If you want to inspect it first that's fine I will do my best to work around anyone's schedule. I won't hold up a sale if someone expresses an interest but no real offer/price is discussed. I hope that is not an unreasonable position. I apologize if it is. I am not to experienced with this selling thing and I am not real comfortable with these types of negotiations either. I don't want to be greedy...I just want a fair price for what I believe to be very good equipment that someone else can enjoy for a whil. I don't think I am asking too much but I am open If I am a little optimistic. If some one wants me to hold it for a day or so to get by and check it out then please just make that firm confirmation to audition the gear by sending me an email rather than a PM or a reply to this post. I am not a good salesman and it is difficult when several people reply an express an interest but no real commitment on whether they will really want it or not. I don't want to hurt anyones feelings or be unfair either.
  12. Ok...here's the latest; Michael Colter (Thorens only) Mike Whell (Thorens only) Barry Nachman (everything) Mike Lindsey (Thorens only) have all expressed interest to some degree or another in that order. Barry is the only one to throw out a number so far. Barry and I may be talking further around noon if he gets back into the office.
  13. I wanted to add that if you can't audition the equipment personally and would like to send a proxy...someone whose judgement you trust that would be fine. I really want to avoid and dissappointments and make sure that any buyer is getting what they expect. Also I will respond to inquiries in the order that they came in. In order to be fair I will look at the timestamp on my emails and on the forum to best determine the order. The first offer I feel is reasonable on anything will get the stuff. I really don't know what it is worth but here's a ballpark. If I am too optimistic then please let me know. Thorens 300-400 range Teac and DBX - 500-600 range Rane EQs 150 for both.
  14. I kind of hate to do this but I don't use this gear any longer. Here's a list of what I have. Thorens TD 125 MkII - I am only the second owner and have enjoyed this table only on rare occaisions since I bought it from Dalton Audio in Clearwater Florida back in 1982. I may still even have the reciept. I purchased a new B&O cartridge for it then but the table has seen so little use I doubt there is even much wear on it at all. A new belt and upgraded interconnects were installed back in 1996. I probably have not used this table more than 50 hours in the last 10 years. It has a stock tonearm and the only issue with this table is that I took the dust cover off and never put it back on because one of the screw fasteners is loose in the wood and it was not worth the trouble for me to take the platter assemply off to glue it in solid again. The dust cover comes with the table. Teac A7300 1/2 track 1/4 inch studio mastering deck with outboard DBX type II. Deck is mint and was purchased from a retired Teac repair tech who now owns his own shop. The deck comes with a custom made cradle on casters (I made the crade but it looks very nice). There are no cosmetic or mechanical issues at all with this deck. The original manuals for the Teac will be provided with the sale. Two Rane PE15 parametric equalizers in very nice cosmetic condition. They have been tested by a tech but I never used them as I went with a DBX 1/3 octave eq after I purchased these. I am not sure what all this stuff is worth but if anyone is interested please PM me or reply to eric.hummel@cendant-trg.com. My cell phone is 352-223-5249 if you are serious. I wouldn't sell this stuff it it was not in top shape and certainly would not take advantage of anyone. I would prefer a local sale so you can see and hear it first but if it must be shipped I would be as accomodating as possible. I will post pictures as soon as I can, or could email them directly if you wanted. Thanks, Eric EDIT:Thorens should be on its way to Indiana later today. Sorry can't get the picutes to work on the forum. I will gladly email them to you if you want to see them. If some one can tell me how to get the images to post I would greatly appreciate any help.
  15. I have a pair of three way Jubilees and highly recommend them. They still give me goosebumps and an occaisional tear in my eye. I haven't owned anything but Klipsch speakers most of my life (except for a couple of Altecs 25 years ago) and I haven't heard anything that moves me more than big Klipsch horns.
  16. Risingjay, I use an ART Cleanbox that has gain controls. I had to lower the bass output level on my crossover once I dialed in the gain level on the cleanbox. If I remember the cost on that was around $60 not including that xlr cable.
  17. yes ... any of those, ART, Rolls, etc. will do it .. I noticed that as soon as I went XLR from the cleanbox out I immediatly needed to reduce the low frequency output on my DBX 234 6 dBs to keep the sound as balanced as it was before.
  18. Hey Duke, Ya think an ART Cleanbox would solve his problem. I use one between an Accuphase preamp and my BGWs.
  19. Mike, I would love to hear your rig. 29th I may be out of town...not 100% sure yet.
  20. Just for the record I think I am closer to 7 than 6...[] Let me first say that I was misinformed about those amps...I thought (I don't know why either) that they were 3 watt SETs or something along those lines. They are beautiful amps and I was more impressed than I ever thought I was going to be...particuliarly because I thought theses were low powered amps. I knew I was mistaken when I hefted one out of Mike's truck. I remember saying these are very heavy for 3 or 4 watts. Sorry Craig...don't know where that misconception came from. They do indeed have a very "luscious" midrange quality. The bass was not bad either, but as Mike says not as authoritative as the BGW. Thing is I would not feel that my La Scalas would need a sub with that kind of power behing the woofers. I have tried many SS amps of similar power ratings in the past and none of them even came close to the BGW. I can see now why many Tube folks would tend to disagree with my earlier contention that a SS amp would clearly out perform the Tube amp in the bottom end. I can say that from past experiences none of the other SS amps I have owned in that power range would have demonstrated to be that superior in the bottom end when compared to the VRDs. So what I am saying is that put up against my NAD 218THX, and Onkyo M504 (both of which I no longer own) and both are on the "200" watts per channel range, they would not have demonstrated the authotity that the BGW did, and they did not sound as good in the mids\highs as the smaller BGWs do. So I would say that the VRDs probably compare very favorablely to most SS amps in that power range, particularly those costing $1500-$2000 or less. The BGWs for wahatever reason, and I am not qualified to speculate on the engineering or designs of these amps, seem to have much more bottom end than anyhting else in that power range I have tried. So...I was impressed with Craigs amps. Would I switch right now...probably not. At least not right at the moment. I have invested a lot of money in this rig and I think my wife would question my sanity if I were to change design philosophy now. It's one of those things I will have to save for now if I want a pair or two out in the future.
  21. Hey All, The amp we used was a 750B, which is only 225 watts\ch @ 8 ohms. The 100 series like the one PWK used blew an output cap about a month ago and I fully expected to have it back by now. The 210s used in the Jubilee setup are infact a much better amp than the 750B. If we were to have used the 100 series, the mids and highs would have been cleaner and more detailed...how much so compared to the VRDs I can't say because as Mike already mentioned that amp was in the shop. The bottom end would have been considerable less than the 750B. The 210 series which are 100 watts per side would have had the same mid\high quality of the 100 series and more bottom end...Still not as much as the 750B. I did not want to use the 750B because it is not designed to use it in that application, it was designed as a low frequency driver for Universal back in 1974. So without restating everything or trying to thread needles I would agree with everything Mike has reported. Thanks Mike for comming over it was a most enjoyable day...Hope we can do it over at your place soon.
