  1. You are kidding, right? You noticed the number of mcintosh components with their wood cases inside that audio rack, right? I agree with the other posters above that, that is most likely is a very bad move, especially over the phone. Assuming it is not a scam but a genuine posting, then either that listing is accurate as stated or it is not. If that ad is indeed accurate as stated then the likelyhood of successfully closing any legitimate deal that is that far under the value of even "a very good deal" rapidly decreases with each tick of the clock. If you do happen to hear from the seller, don't negotiate or dilly & dally over $10, close the deal for the $200 asap, pdq, post haste, pronto, el quicko. rapido, das fasto, wham bamm, like yesterday dude!!!!
  2. Thanks for the emphasing the importance of timbre matching of the front lcr trio for optimal results and the role that the woofer of the center channel speaker plays in reproducing the majority of the vocal range (I'm assuming that this will result in clearer dialog in movies). I appreciate you sharing your personal preference of a center based on actual experience with the cornwalls in ht. It is very good to know that a regular cornwall used on its side is still a workable option. I am near metro Atlanta, GA
  3. (Oops, I am Bob, I was using TIA = thanks in advance) Thanks for your observations and suggestions. The cornwalls in a 2 channel setting have made such an impression on me that I am leaning toward trying to capture that same audio magic in a ht setting. I have heard a pair of heresy many years ago in a 2 channel stereo rig in a small room before the arrival of ht on the scene. I have had different mixtures of klipsch speakers from the kg series, klf series and rf series along with some other brand of speakers in the home theater and most of them sounded pretty good to me. I guess I am just intrigued about the possibility of building a timbre-matched ht system around cornwalls up front. I'll try to keep a lookout for a while for a verticle cornwall, but they don't seem to show up too often even in pairs much less as a single speaker. If nothing turns up, I may just get a pair of heresy and use one for the center until I can find a single cornwall (either vertical or regular), which is my goal. Bob
  4. How would a single regular cornwall (not a vertical cornwall) laid on its side in a horizontal position compare to a single heresy in upright position as a center between 2 cornwalls for the front LCR trio in a contemplated all heritage ht setting? What are the pro and cons of using a cornwall sideways in this manner? TIA
  5. Thanks, I think I also was leaning toward the placement above. The thing that had me somewhat concerned is that all of the other ht setups that I have seen & heard, the center speaker was always below the tv and I hadn't had a chance before to actually hear or see a placement above. I had considered trying the placement both ways myself, but I was reluctant to try any temporary placement above the tv even for testing purposes because of the potential for being unstable. I decided that the only way I would even proceed was if the mount above the plasma tv was permanant and very secure.
  6. Given a choice of placing the RC-7 center speaker on a shelf of a tv stand below the plasma tv or on a wall shelf mounted above the tv, which would be more preferable? Neither placement seem to line up optimally with the height of the main front left & right speakers. On the stand below the tv, the center speaker seem about 2 feet too low and mounted above the tv it seem about 1 foot too high. Or is either placement ok with the speaker being tilted either up or down to toward the listening/viewing position?
