Duke, I get it, and then, I don't. I can sort of picture a sound wave going through a horn, and that the shape of the horn might affect the frequencies that it will allow to traverse it. Right?
If so, why is it that direct radiators go deeper with no horn, and K-Horns go deeper with a bigger horn?
If the horn effects the frequency so much, then, wouldn't KHorns be better as direct radiators? [*-)]

If you don't have attic access to the top plate in the wall, and if you can't get in well behind the crown molding, then, behind the baseboard is the best way to go by a long shot. You'll have some flexibility to do what you want with an inch or so of drywall on the bottom, which will be covered by baseboard when you put it back. You can tuck the wire underneath the drywall if the baseboard will not sit flat with wire behind it, and you can even drill a 1/4" hole through the studs down low if you need to in order to keep the wire within the wall completely.

Just a curiosity. I was corrected when it was noted that turning up the bass volume will not emulate the greater "balance" perceived with the K-Horn because the LaScala goes down to only 80hz (or 65 or whatever) and the K-Horn goes down to 35hz or whatever. I see a valid argument there. Am wondering, however, why this "bass" issue is not easily corrected with a different cross-over for the LaScala. The speakers use the same woofer, so it seems something must be filtering out the LaScala's ability to go down as deep.

Yeah, that's what mom and dad used to say about Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath and all those bands that lured their kids into smoking pot and taking other drugs and dropping out of the "rat race" for money and success.
We're in a different era. Now, it's your turn to be "mom and dad." The song remains the same, but it's played through a different beat. There's more violence preached in rap, but alot of violence was spurred from good old rock, too!
Man, I bet the hippies were one scary and ugly bunch to the mom's and dad's who grew up in the '40's and 50's. Just look at Elvis. His leg-shaking really freaked out the moms and dads who grew up in the 40's and 30's. We're a long way from Elvis and his leg-shaking, and this is the natural progression of things.
That said, I don't like the rap culture, either, for the same reasons you stated. But, we'll get past it, just like we did "The Who," "The Grateful Dead" and "Metallica."
You just gotta wonder what the next generation after rap will be like. Notice how each generation seems to have to "one-up" the former in order to be rebellious and "exciting?"

I think he probably laughed all the way to the big bank in the sky, seeing all these members paying thousands of dollars a pop to upgrade from the "bass shy" LaScalas to the "more rotund" K-Horns - rather than turn the bass knob on their pre-amp to the right a little. [

It seems to me that the bass-deficiency of a LaScala as compared to a K-Horn can be made up by turning up the bass on your stereo. How's that for a free, easy solution?

If that's your heater in the picture, it looks like it would take no more than about $6.87 in parts from Home Depot to move it - if you do it yourself. Just elbows and extensions.
On the speakers themselves, the price is probably a little high, but finding them locally means you do the best you can and get them when reasonable enough. Big question.... Will they sound alot better than your Cornwalls? Everybody around here seems to agree they will not.
So, you'd be paying all that premium for "pretty." If you're really after the way they look, then, go for it. Otherwise, $1700 is a chunk of change for some speakers that probably will not sound as good (balanced) as your Cornwalls.
I would also recommend that the average person who already has good equipment to read "The Millionaire Next Door" before making a decision to trade up. That's not to say you would be talked out of it, but it is a good book on financial priorities.
