The AudiogoN 2A3s could be a good deal if more were known about them - they are barely more expensive than a new pair of Sovteks. That being said, Sovteks are very good for every day listening but a pair of 1940s RCA JAN-CRC 2A3s black plates for special occasions are mighty nice to have on hand! 2A3 mono plates are the ultimate but out of my price range!

I thought I read here that the LaScala's aren't lacking in bass at all. I thought I read the LaScala has all the bass that's "fit to hear"? []

IMHO RCAs would be a step up from the Sovteks, but at a price premium. The Sovteks are the best "bang for the buck" 2A3s.

" Erik is in the camp that anyone with some practice and patience can learn to solder and work on a piece of electronics. Craig disagrees. I should ask the same question of Erik; how long have you been building amps, Erik? I have been lurking on this forum for quite some time. There are many many folks here who deserve respect; IMHO it just seems that some folks seem to demand respect but aren't willing to give any. []
