  1. i got my new K-33-E woofers to replace the 2 completely blown in my cornwalls (bad amp) direct from klipsch parts dept. & just stuck em in. hey maybe klipsch could sell their whole speakers this way too. sorry, couldn't resist
  2. think he's talking sub speaker level outputs quent. & yea the spec list doesn't show em. do you or anyone have a ksw-10? a quick peek at the back will tell, but I no have 1
  3. BUMP does klipsch know the system or was XXXX just an arbitrary example? i.e., most #s i've seen for '84-'89 have at most only seven digits. thanks
  4. t, no the big political debate is CO2, not CO(bad). you'd think it was CO w/ all the hoopla. so it's all moot & stupid. i loathe politics - wish they'd just leave us alone - repubs on the moral issues & dems on the econ issues. plants & speakers need CO2 to breath
  5. i'm not attacking u personally dick as i'm sure your just echoing the liberal media but: yea w/ our utility bills sky high let's make them even more so. typical - when it come to anything on business or economics dems just don't get it. free markets are a real low priority for them. by way, CO2 isn't a pollutant - bush errored in including it on the list. we better end this here I myself am not a republican. when it comes to the economy i'm definitely anti-democrat or nader.
  6. tom, i paid the full 350 for mine (before I knew of this board still seems like a great value at that but lower's even better. that is conditional on it not being the cause of the crackling noise i'm getting on some voices w/ dvd & dig cable movies. still need to get around to testing that
  7. see below site. NYPD Blue in DD 5.1- trouble is w/ digital cable probably not since it's an analog channel on Time Warner. may be able to get it on DBS though. www.dolby.com/ht/pa.lt.0102.5.1Shows.html#shows ------------------ RF-3 (front), RC-3, Cornwall I (rear) Velodyne HGS-18 sub Monsterbass 400 sub cables & Monster Z-12 wire Sony de935 a/v receiver Sony DVP-C650D dvdp Sony Trinitron 27" tv Technics dual cassette deck Technics direct drive turntable Scientific Atlanta Explorer 2000 digital cable box rock on!
  8. should be flush against your back wall (shooting straight ahead) @ about a 60 degree angle from your ear(s) to the center(s) of the speakers(s). if it's an es receiver, there should be some diagram in your manual.
  9. phil, how many authorized e-tailers of klipsch are there? is it a pretty short list (even including local dealers who have an e-tailing system for their respective monopolies, or I mean areas of exclusivity)?
  10. that lucky sob (slick willie). got in just when the econ was starting to pick up thanks to repub admin policies & left when the reverse was starting. the pinkos Daschle & Gerphardt are already blaming this slowdown on the new admin. what a joke. sorry to say it, but I won't be spending any $ on klipsch until the NASDAQ gets back to at least 3000. if the fed needs more evidence to keep lower rates i'll give it to em - STOP SPENDING. guess the system i have will help me get by for now. this too shall pass - I hope.
  11. if you want to do more than 5.1 channels, you have to have a preamp (or preamp section) that decodes into 6.1 or 7.1 channels. you certainly have enough speakers. i don't know- is your yammy upgradeable to any of the 6.1 matrixed, DTS 6.1 discrete, or 7.1 matrixed? if not u may want to look for a new preamp/receiver that does it (like the denon 5800 f.e.). then u could spread out 4 of the heresy as side surrounds running a+b & use the other 2 lascala for the 2 rear surrounds. then u still have speakers to spare. just a start - how to get all those speakers working best w/ just a 9.1 setup is my limit. but like DD said u need the decoding for those. to add though, DTS now has 6.1 discrete where the rear center is a distinct non-matrixed channel.
  12. oh yea for starters a lot of music performers have DVDs out recorded w/ 5.1 channels the best i've heard being the Eagles Hell Freezes Over in DTS 5.1 (a lot cheaper than their concert tic). also DVD audio starting to become more available.
  13. bob, does that also apply for cornwalls? mine have only 7 digits - 8407377 & 8407378
  14. yea like phil says - that would be the way to go. won't go wrong w/ either of those as rear surrounds.
  15. thanks phil; i was curious on that as just once on the starz channel (freebie weekend) w/ the movie Civil Action my sony lit up & displayed "Dolby Digital 5.1" w/ the lfe indicator display & the 5 other channel boxes all lit up. unfortunately that movie only had one explosion they need to send ALL movies encoded w/ 5.1 channels (usually they're just Dolby 2.0/Prologic where the rears play the same channels as the front L & R but w/ possibly some delay). if they would get more w/ the times i might even pay for one of their premium channels
  16. starting in '84 they go to the number only system. for example, one of my cornwall's # is 8407377 so it was made in '84 on the 73rd(073) day of the year.
  17. looks like '79. figured i better repost this chart so it doesn't get purged from the sys 1962 A 1963 B 1964 C 1965 D 1966 E 1967 F 1968 G 1969 H 1970 I 1971 J 1972 K 1973 L 1974 M 1975 N 1976 P 1977 R 1978 S 1979 T 1980 U 1981 W 1982 X 1983 Y
  18. I have the Corn I & have heard the II's a few times, but all w/ a different set of parameters (amp, room, etc.) i'd say they both sound great & both are more (ful)filling
  19. phil, are u saying w/ your receiver it always displays Dolby Digital 5.1 when u tune in the starz channel. that should only display for a movie encoded in DD 5.1.
  20. two direct speakers could be best for rear surrounds too. 7.1 discrete channel is probably not far away. which speaks & components are u using now?
  21. now there's the debate try to listen to them side by side & let those ears decide
  22. since you already have an rc-3, it should be a simple answer - the rf-3 center match is THE rc-3. so unless u want to also get a new center, the rf-3 is the better of the two. oh, & the rf-3 sound great too ------------------ RF-3 (front), RC-3, Cornwall I (rear) Velodyne HGS-18 sub Monsterbass 400 sub cables & Monster Z-12 wire Sony de935 a/v receiver Sony DVP-C650D dvdp Sony Trinitron 27" tv Technics dual cassette deck Technics direct drive turntable Scientific Atlanta Explorer 2000 digital cable box rock on!
  23. sorry if i'm being a stickler (again) , but LFE & <80hz (low bass) aren't interchangeable terms. LFE is carried on a seperate channel to the sub & can actually go up to 120hz if using the thx or whichever standards. the low bass for each respective channel is what is delegated to the sub when that is set to small. w/ most if not all receivers all lfe (the .1 channel) is sent only to the sub, even if u have say the fronts set to large & say a bass mgmt output setting (if available) on front+sub. so for lfe source material, it probably all goes to your sub anyway, unless u set your sub:no. if some receivers send lfe to other speakers, which i'm sure you'll hear some do, it wouldn't make sense to do that anyway. why try & send signals from a specific channel (lfe/.1 bandwidth)) produced for a subwoofer through a whole different channel (like the front L or R)? as for the low bass, large vs. small can be an endless debate on which sounds best. many factors involved so do what sounds best
  24. sorry I didn't mean to imply klipsch also calls the rs-3 "dipole". however many others including those unauthorized internet resellers do so apparently incorrectly.

    SVS 16-46cs

thanks for the info l. wish larry greenville @ stereophile would review an svs. yea that kick drum is a good indicator of sub musicality - if it's tight, powerful & stops on a dime, that's a good music sub i feel. sounds like svs, piano gloss finish & all is going after a sub to match the hgs-18 (w/ just 1) & maybe the new rsw-15. could be a big battle of the $1-3k subs coming i'll keep an eye on their site.
