What is stuff like MP-3, MPEG, WAV, and so on? I am trying to find the clearest the best recording sound. I have down loaded a lot of music and some sounds good and some sound like crap.
I am also looking for a good place to down load good and clean music and not spend a arm and a leg.

I think my next step is McIntosh Tube. I belive that a system can sound very good even if it is a two channel or a HT? But I am looking for is the best recording of sound that I can find for music.

I am sorry I did know that you were Cites. LOL

You are so right. I just though that in the digital age I could find all of my music in a digital format some where. I am in a cross over from a old school to a new school digital format. Becaust when I hit around 110dbs it sucks but I have some recording in a digital format they sound great the others suck.

Hi Wrench,
I saw your project - stunning.
I hope my woofers are in there!
Now about your new post; reading your components listed at the bottom...
As a Yamaha RX-V user (and I love it for what it does well) it is your weak point for "driving" Khorns.
Good source will be needed to but that amp is (IMHO) not up to the task of getting the best out of those horns.
Those Khorns should be able to make you CRY.
I would drive them with a good tube amp in stereo.
Use the RX-V for HT...
With all respect,
Noah - HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Your Woofer?
IMHO ???

Ok you guys saw what I just posted.
Ok now my problem is I have found that all my music sucks! So where do I get good tracks that don,t sound like a radio? I am looking for clean and clear recording? -
Thanks Tom.

Dude, you are doing some seriously nice work. And a lot of it too.
What is the wood?
Walnut with Birch back.
-
These were well worth the wait, I've always wanted to build a pair but didn't have the resources (or the measurements). Built 3 pairs of LaScala's back in the early 80's but didn't have access to trachorns, ALK's, V-tracs or K400's since Klipsch would not sell these parts. Had to settle with horns that had higher cutoffs unless you could find some altecs. Did you use 3/4" or stick to the original design?
I used both 1/2" and 3/4". If it was all 3/4" it would be too heavy and it would not resonate right.

You would not belive. They are a part of me.
awesome - you must be so proud!

I agree. That is only thing I did not finish.
Very nice!! Congratulations!
I'd suggest adding a kick-plate to the bottom fronts like the factory model -- could help prevent splitting the veneer when you move them around.

No just a serious hobby. And love it.
Those are beautiful. Do you work with wood as a job? Or serious hobby? That is amazing work.
-
Thanks guys for all the kind words. And yes they do sound very very good. I put them up next to my 1975 Khorns and man it is like night and day. There are one or two people on this forum that helped. So thanks to ALK, Bob, Greg's for helping with the elec and Greg;s for some measurements I did not have.

This is something I have been working on for 32 years. I saw and heard my frist set when I was 17 and though that I would never be able the afford a set. So I started learning and gathering info and doing a lot of wood working and building furniture and doing trim work. Till around two years ago and then I started this set.
-
I did it. Humm lets see two way or three way? Daaaa? You will find more depth in both movie and music. But you will need a better center and for now use the Heresey II for your backs.

What is the diffrents between 3619 and 3636 autotransformer? Can I interchange them? I started building a set of crossovers and the plans call for 3619 but I have two 3636. Can I use them?
-
I went ahead and got the Mundorf Superme.
-
I belive manufacturer do it for profit and are willing to lose sound.
You get what you pay for.

I called Madisound the other day and tryed to order some Hovland caps and they said that they dont make them anymore. Does anybody know why? Well the guy at Matisound said that the Mundorf Superme cap is just as good. My question is if they dont make Hovland caps then what would be a replacement?
