  1. What is stuff like MP-3, MPEG, WAV, and so on? I am trying to find the clearest the best recording sound. I have down loaded a lot of music and some sounds good and some sound like crap.

I am also looking for a good place to down load good and clean music and not spend a arm and a leg.

  2. You are so right. I just though that in the digital age I could find all of my music in a digital format some where. I am in a cross over from a old school to a new school digital format. Becaust when I hit around 110dbs it sucks but I have some recording in a digital format they sound great the others suck.

  3. Hi Wrench,

I saw your project - stunning.

I hope my woofers are in there!

Now about your new post; reading your components listed at the bottom...

As a Yamaha RX-V user (and I love it for what it does well) it is your weak point for "driving" Khorns.

Good source will be needed to but that amp is (IMHO) not up to the task of getting the best out of those horns.

Those Khorns should be able to make you CRY.

I would drive them with a good tube amp in stereo.

    Use the RX-V for HT...

    With all respect,

    Noah - HAPPY NEW YEAR!

    Your Woofer?

    IMHO ???

  4. These were well worth the wait, I've always wanted to build a pair but didn't have the resources (or the measurements). Built 3 pairs of LaScala's back in the early 80's but didn't have access to trachorns, ALK's, V-tracs or K400's since Klipsch would not sell these parts. Had to settle with horns that had higher cutoffs unless you could find some altecs. Did you use 3/4" or stick to the original design?

I used both 1/2" and 3/4". If it was all 3/4" it would be too heavy and it would not resonate right.

  5. Thanks guys for all the kind words. And yes they do sound very very good. I put them up next to my 1975 Khorns and man it is like night and day. There are one or two people on this forum that helped. So thanks to ALK, Bob, Greg's for helping with the elec and Greg;s for some measurements I did not have.

  6. I called Madisound the other day and tryed to order some Hovland caps and they said that they dont make them anymore. Does anybody know why? Well the guy at Matisound said that the Mundorf Superme cap is just as good. My question is if they dont make Hovland caps then what would be a replacement?
