  1. No you guys are right thats not my wood shop. Im a car guy. This is my cousin shop he is in to making wood projects, building houses that kind of stuff. He was nice enough to let me use all his wood workin tools and to lend a hand assembling and cutting the large pieces.

  2. Id really like to be able to copy all my cd/dvds to a hard drive and be able to navigate through them with a pc then select and play. And from my very basic understanding some program should be able to make plain dvd look even better than before. On a side note I see where sony ,(Sony Vaio VGP-XL1B2 200 CD/DVD Media Changer) is making a 200 disk cd/dvd changer that is compatible with a pc using Window 05 media center. That would be great for loading info into your pc.

  3. Thanks guys... Oak is sorta harder to work with ...at least I think so. It seem to splinter/chip worse. So I figured using the trim would help the edges from getting splinterd and chipped worse. The trim was a PITA to make. I definetly give props to professional wood workers. They have more patience than me. Im planning on finishing the in minwax red oak finish and then a few coats of poly.

J.4knee Ive never ever heard a real set of lascala's before so I hope these live up to the hype. If not I can always build the next 5 different.

  4. Well It has been over a year since I started gathering info, parts, and plans to make my home theater. The first of this year I started making my first set of scala's. I'll be using ALK networks, Trachorns Mr.Bob's k55 drivers , replacment tweets, and woofers. So far I have everything to make one pair. I decided to use Oak plywood . I have almost finished assembling my first pair as well. Figured I show you guys a pic or 2 . Let me know what you guys think.

  5. I dont know they seller or have any affiliation with him, And sorry if someone else has posted this.

I have spoken with the guy and he has 10 pair of them. Yes 20 La scala's. The guy works for a symphony that went out of bussiness. He said that they were purchased between 87-88 and they rarely used them except for outdoor events. He described them to be in great condition and everything working. The pair listed on the internet is a test sort of to see what they wil bring then hell take offers on the remaining 9 pairs. I was thinking of getting 4 pair from him but being there quite a distance from me, I have decide to just make some.

I email the seller and he responded within a day and gave me a phone # to reach him at.

  6. Im still plainig to build them just not all at once. I plan to make 1 pair very soon. As far as componets, I am thinkin as of now to use Mr. Bob's k77 tweeter, k55 drivers, ALK Trachorn k33 woffers and the ALK universal crossovers. I figure roughly 1500 to build a pair like this not including the cost of wood or any other little things.

  7. I just saw that on ebay as well. The way the top is made it makes the bass bin part look real big.

Do you think it is really worth paying about 200 extra for a trachorn over the klipsch mid horn. It seem you can find the klipsch for 50-100.

  8. Hi all newbie to the forums. I have been talking with the good doctor and he suggested that I ask my question here. I want some la scala's for my ht/ music duties 7 of them to be exact. I have a brand new stage one and 2007 that im dieing to use. I have been looking for a while and there hard to find local and next to impossible to get someone to ship them to you. Also you really dont know what youre getting. Which got me to thinking I could just make some of them. The finish would be great and the components top notch. After a few hours of looking I found some excellent drawing on the site. Now this is where im looking for you guys expertise. What would you use for the tweets mids sub and crossovers? Would you go with the normal klipsch stuff k 77, k 55, k 33 or something else. Every once and a while you see that stuff on eBay, I could just get it piece by piece.
