  1. anyone have a reccommendation for ONE good DVD or CD with SFX, like helicopter, organ pipes, 1812 overture,... or similar.... without buying 8 different media? thanks glne
  2. Am thinking of building amp using this, has anyone done it before? any comments on sound quality? thanks
  3. with two only 2 sata's i can pull 90MB/s of sustained video.
  4. Yes, i tried getting the parts for the vertical cornwall but they were not available. Klipsch parts people were useless as well. So had to go off and get the speakers from eBay.
  5. Hmm, I don't notice anything noise or distortion but I output digitally over fiber. Current software WinDVD etc all have the decoding built-in. I don't have multiple source, I run everything through the monster computer. All the current receivers all of crap processing bullshit, I would never use or want. I really don't care what is sounds like in a closet or bathroom, kitchen,..
  6. Instead of dumping $2500 into a receiver, if you put even half that in a decent amp or some monoblocks, you will have a killer system.
  7. umm, sorry, SATA II for cost/IO in a raid configuration rulz, SCSI sucks. i've had both, SCSI arrays with 10k cheetah and current 3ware. 3ware crushes SCSI in $/IO in raid 0 or 5. so for same cost of a SCSI raid, i can more than double maybe triple the size of SATA with 75MB/s sustained hard pulls of huge video files.
  8. Why do you need a receiver these days when you can output 5.1 from a decent sound card and with good dvd players, they can decode dts, dolby thx,....???
  9. Hyperthreading is bullshit for intensive apps. this is only a time slice sharing scheme good for non-intensive apps. you will see true dual core if the application is properly threaded to use two cpu's like premiere or povray. otherwise you can manually assign affinity to certain apps so the OS hogs one cpu by itself and your app runs full throttle on own cpu with no contentions for RAM/CPU access. go dual core, if you have computationaly intensive apps, big with bigger cache, if just graphics, higher clock speed. why intel? for price vs. performance they suck compared with AMD. AMD crushes intel in nearly every 64-bit benchmark around and is cheaper.
  10. SCSI, too expensive and slow. get SATA raid but don't use the piece of shit on board controllers get a 3ware card. i crush the perfomance benchmarks on any SCSI system. get the fastest spinning SATA with the biggest cache you can afford. priority is on cache then rpm's
  11. What about this KG-4? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=9727242324&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1 KP-250-FO ? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7416238093&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1
  12. Any recomendations for a speak that is currently available on the marketplace?
  13. Hi, A quick check of eBay reveals KLF-C7's for sale in a LONG time. Know anyone who has one for sale? or how do new reference ones sound the RC 64 or 62? or will the Tractrix horns sound horrible with CW's? thanks glne
  14. Hello All, L/R front are Cornwall 2's, L/R back are Heresy 2's, it is tough enough getting these speakers much less a single Heresy 2 for the center channel. What is a good alternative for the center channel besides another Heresy? Thanks!
  15. hello, setup will be two cornwall II's for left/right heresy II for center and rear left and right. anyone have experience with harmon/kardon DPR 1005? i typically output digital audio/video and want the pipe to be as digital as far as possible to reduce the number of A/D's. this looks like a good solution. Comments? suggestions? thanks!! glen
  16. Klipsch does not support DIY, they imply you have to go through external vendors to obtain parts. Here is message from Klipsch --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hello Glen, I do apologize for you not receiving a response. Our parts dept only sells replacement parts for speakers. Your suggestion of wanting enough parts to build 6 Cornwall's is something our Parts dept is not permitted to sell and this is policy. Klipsch does not sell parts to people to assemble themselves. Our parts dept. does not ship out of country. Parts can only ship US only, parts would need to be obtained through a local distributor. -------------------------------------------------- Steve Phillips Home / Professional Audio Tech Support Klipsch Audio Technologies 1-800-554-7724 option 2 for Tech Support The Ultimate Sound Experience
  17. I called the guys in Melbourne, International Dynamics and the sales guy said they did not know when any goods would ship from the states and when they did it would be 6 to 8 weeks. He suggested calling back in three weeks and he had no idea of the stock being sent or how much the Cornwall 3's would be. Also there is another place Bass Light and Sound, I sent them an email and they are going to see if they can locate any parts as well. How did you do with Truscott's? cheers glen
  18. Thanks, will have a look this week at Truscott, I think their is another place call BassLight or something like that they may be able to get parts but I don't they have any for the original Cornwalls, maybe spare parts for the Khorn and LaScala and Heresy... will call them next week and find otu. cheers glen
  19. Thanks! Let me know, but they would hideously expensive. Maybe $8k AUS. Shipping that much wood this far, expensive. I originally looked at getting some from Ebay but the shipping alone would about $1800 USD.
  20. Rob, Thanks for that. Have been reading a lot of different opinions between I and II, for and against. The basic difference seems to be the K-77 vs the K-79, and K57 vs K55, but I haven't been to find any SPL curves to veryify 98dB vs 101dB. CHeers glen
  21. G'day, Am looking to build a set of Cornwalls. These are impossible to get here in Australia. Where is a good place to get new drivers? Would rather buy from a vendor rather than taking a chance on E-bay. QTY8 K-34-E K-57-K K-79-K The autotransformer for the midrange crossover seems difficult to find. Does anyone have a good source? Plan on using two Cornwalls for left and right and Heresy for center channel. Have decided on rear surrounds. Has anyone managed to shield these? lining the inside with metal. If anyone has a good setup, what amps or other components you are using with the Cornwalls, please post. Thanks! glen
