  1. Not a wood one. He calls it a "black walnut vinyl covered steel case".
  2. What's a reasonable price to pay for a minty 2230 receiver? The asking price is $300, seems a bit high after researching completed ebay prices. Thanks, Gary
  3. I know I may be stepping out of most peoples comfort zone but I got to ask. I just sold my phono preamp (Bellari VP129) thinking I could quickly replace it with a Tercel. Well, that plan backfired. Since then Mark at Juicy Music has decided to retire and may possibly run another Tercel batch; however, availability is mid to late March. Ouch......I can't live without the sound of vinyl for that long. Does anyone have a phone pre laying around collecting dust I could borrow for a couple months? I'll pay shipping both ways.....just sitting here jonsin for my records. Please help a poor soul. I am locatedin CA about 20 min east of Saramento on the way to south Lake Tahoe. My current set up is a Peach pre, Rega TT w/Dynavector 10x5, Yamaha m-85 amp, and LaScala's. Thanks, Gary
  4. Just placed my order. Keep'em coming....last call for Tercel's!
  5. Thanks Josh. Your comparison is exactly what I was looking for. You pushed me over the fence onto the Tercel side. Time to book my order before its too late. Gary
  6. Thanks Darrell. Appreciate the feedback. Agree with Juicy Music's quality. I real happy with the Peach. So far I'm leaning toward the Tercel, removes the risk of trying to match two different companies components. Gary
  7. Looking for any comments/reviews on the Wright WPP200C phono amp. My 2 channel set-up is a Yamaha M-85 SS amp, Juicy Peach pre, Rega P3 TT w/Dynavector 10x5 all channeled through a set of LaScala's.Ideally, I would prefer a Tercel (would match up well with the Peach) but they are getting too hard to find and my patience is running out. Anyone have any experience with the Wright Sounds equipment? Looking for some real life comparisons to the Tercel if possible. Thanks, Gary
  8. Where can I buy inexpensive, but good record liners for the inner sleeve? Thanks, Gary
  9. Thanks again Bill. No worries on the info mix up. I'll try the corns at the 60 and all others at 100. Gary
  10. Thanks Bill. I tried the auto set-up with the supplied mic and it set everything at 100hz all small speakers. I'll try your settings and hear what happens. Hopefully someone with corns will reply. Gary
  11. Looking for some processor settings from those of you who have the 990 processor. My current set-up: Outlaw 990 w/7500 amp Cornwall Mains Academy Center KG 1.5 Surrounds RSW-12 Sub Should I set large or small speaker settings? What cross-over freq should I use for each speaker? Should I run sub in LFE? Is there a freq to set on the back of the sub? Sorry about all the questions. I'm pretty green to all this technical stuff. Thanks Gary
  12. Good point. I'll work on the shelf method. Gary
  13. Excellent summary Inventor. I want to use my HT speakers for SAT viewing, so I will go with hdmi/dvi {sat to 990}. The DVD is old-school, no hdmi. I'll go with optical cable and video cables into the 990. Thanks again for all the help. Gary
  14. Thanks Inventor....this is beginning to make sense. I am planning to turn off the speakers on the TV and use the HT speakers exclusively. Therefore, the route for the 3 devices (direct TV, DVD, PS3) will be component cables from device to Outlaw. Then do I need 3 more sets of component cables to connect from the Outlaw to the TV? Gary
  15. I'm kind of confused, looking for advice how to connect components in a home theatre system. What type of cables will get me the optimal performance from the gear? Not sure how they connect together. Here's what I got: LCD HD TV - Samsung LN52A750 AV Processor - Outlaw 990 Satellite Box - Direct TV DVR - Direct TV PS3 - Sony 80gb DVD - Sony Looking for point to point connections and best cables to use for that connection. Thanks. Gary (HT newbie)
  16. I need to attach a center speaker (academy) to the wall above the flat panel TV. Anyone try this? Gary
  17. Josh....Nice score. I have been searching for a vert for a HT I am building. Currently running an Academy, but would prefer to match the center with the Conrwall II's I have. Keep me in mind if you decide to part with them. I only need one. Gary
  18. WHELL & ALL thanks for the tips. What whell states makes sense. It looks like an Ortofon on there already. I'll stick to this brand. Gary
  19. I just picked up a Dual 1254 and was wondering what cartridge works best with these turntables. Thanks, Gary
  20. I found the problem last night. The motor had shifted to the left somehow. I was able to un-stick the motor from the plinth and re-seat it where is should be. Fired it up......dead quiet. All is well....or is it? Should I be concerned that the motor took an unusual amount of force to move it? Question for all you that bought the table new. Describe the layering sequence. Mine came as follows: Box laying "this side up": Bottom was the plinth Moving up was the platter and felt mat in a card board folded envelope On the top was the Plexi cover I am wondering if the middle package containg the platter rested on the motor and in true UPS fashion, they stood the box on end and the weight of the platter pushed the motor out of alignment. Any help and/or comments greatly appreciated. Gary
  21. Thanks boomac......appears that I have a problem.
  22. It seems that a few people on this site have the Rega turntable. I just got one and hooked it up last night. I think there may be a problem with it. Bought the show room floor model, the guy said it was rarely used. When I turned it on the motor makes a terrible racket. Sounds like bearings rubbing. The motor spindle that comes up through the plinth is not centered in the plinth hole. It has been pushed to the far left. I'm suspecting that the noise could be the belt holder rubbing against the side of the plinth. Question.....Is the P3 quiet when the platter is turning? Thanks for the help, Gary
  23. Q-Man...Good point re: belt. Probably need to replace that off-the-bat. Found a few sources on-line ~$30. not too bad I guess. Probably need to replace the needle as well. Off to look for those.
  24. I have an opportunity to pick up an Empire 598 turntable. Any owners out there with 598 stories...good or bad. What should I look for when I inspect the table? Thanks, Gary
  25. Anyone familiar with this table? Is is belt drive? Stable or is it subjective to floor vibration? Was thinking about going with a Rega P3 but this 6100 came along. Should I hold off for the P3? Any other comments welcome.
