  1. Thanks seti and dean for the quick reponse. I am most interested in NOS, I'll check out Brent's website.
  2. Looking for a good reliable source to buy tubes from. Any suggestions?
  3. I'm on the hunt to find a pair of KG 1.2 or 1.5, either one would work for me. Any help is greatly appreciated. Gary
  4. Can the AL crossovers be that bad? Simple answer....YES. They are horrible, in my opinion. My Lascala's had AL's and sounded....well....not so good. Put some ALK's in and WOW what a difference. Smooth and enjoyable. The harshness was removed. In fact you can fine tune the ALK's for the mid range. A bit pricey but worth every cent.
  5. That's great to hear. This opens up more models to choose from. Thanks for the help guys.
  6. Hope this isn't too stupid of a question.....If I only have speakers for a 5.1 set-up can I use a 7.1 receiver and still get the same 5.1 output? Or will the signal try to send some sound to the missing 2 speakers?
  7. Thanks Plummer....I'll look into some Kg's. I found an Academy within 1.5 hr drive.....got real lucky. I am very pleased with the way it paired with the Cornwalls. I feel the front end is now complete and my wife approves. She was resistant about a third Cornwall, I don't know why. I thought it would look and sound awesome with a wall of Corn's up front. Isn't that why they named them CornWALLS. Just need to fill the back stage and I'll be a happy camper (at least for a week or two).
  8. Budget wise I would like to keep it under $400. Size-wise; I don't even have room for a Heresy, that leaves the CW out (too bad for me).
  9. Looking for some guidance on which surround speakers to go with. Current set-up is a 5.1 running through an old Harman Kardon AVR55; Cornwall fronts, Academy center, and RSW12. I don't have room for full surround speakers so any of the heritage line is out. In keeping with the Klipsch theme, which surrounds would sound the best with this set-up. Thanks, Gary
  10. I love a happy ending......Scored a great condition academy yesterday. Only had to drive 1.5 hours and was able to audition the speaker. Looked and sounded perfect, paid the man what he was asking and I was back in the car after 10 min for the drive home. I must say, I am very happy how the sound matches with the cornwalls. Now it's time to work on the rear surrounds (there's always something else).
  11. What issues has this developed? Since the speaker will be laying on its side, I was concerned that it may not sound as full as a center speaker (flanking subwoofers). I need to find a Heresy to try.
  12. Indy...You asked why do I want to do this and what other speakers am I running. I am working on building my 5.1 HT sound system. Currently have '86 Cornwall II running as mains. I wanted an Academy for the center, but that is proving to be very difficult to find. Eventually, I will have Heresy surrounds. Trying to finsih the front end first. I figured two Heresy's would give me a more robust souding center with subwoofers on either end. Not sure if a single Heresey laying on its side on top of the TV would sound full enough. Although I could be wrong.
  13. I am thinking about using a Heresy as my center speaker hooked up to a AVR. Is it possible to bridge two Heresy's to the same center speaker input? Ideally, would like to lay the speakers horizontally with the woofers on the far ends and create a single center speaker. Is this crazy or do-able.
  14. A Heresy center set-up, interesting. Is it possible to connect two speakers as one unit? I'm thinking of laying two Heresy's side-by-side horizontal with the woofers at the extreme ends and call that my center speaker. Would this be over-kill?
  15. Anyone running a KLF-C7 with Cornwalls? I'm loosing hope in finding an Academy and looking for other options. Any other center speaker that would work with Cornwalls?
  16. Thanks for the tip Cal. I'll check into the service.
  17. Just missed out on the Academy on Ebay, my stop watch was off. Gave another bidder 7 seconds to swoop in and take my prize; dang. Still looking.
  18. Hey oldtimer......yep....been keepin an eye on it. Thanks for the tip.
  19. Still looking for that elusive academy. I know there's one out there for me. ;o)
  20. The finish........I know beggars can't be choosers.....But I would say #1 choice walnut, it would match my Cornwalls, #2 oak, #3 black.
  21. Thanks T-Wood, Email pics and price to gwolfram05@yahoo.com Where are you at in Nevada? I'm about 1.5hrs away from Reno in CA. Gary
  22. Looking to buy a Academy speaker. Anyone have one for sale? I have a listing in Home Theatre section already, and no replies. Just want to make sure I am covering my bases. Thanks, Gary
  23. Anyone out there have an Academy you're willing to sell? Gary
  24. gaspr....nice catch, thanks.
  25. I have been spinning records now for a few months on a borrowed table plugged into my HK AVR. I'm hooked on this vinyl stuff. Wish I did this experiment a few months ago before buying the Peach preamp. Well, now I need to go out and buy the Blueberry. Of course, my wife says the Peach goes before I buy another piece of equipment........so here goes: New condition Peach less than 7 months old. Very low hours, only used it for a few hours on the weekends. Asking $1500, saves you a couple hundred bucks off the new. Email me if your interested gwolfram05@yahoo.com Gary
