  1. My current setup is a pair of RF-35s and an SVS 20-39 PCi. I want a center channel, and I figure the SVS can handle the heavy lifting down low that currently gets filtered away from the RFs by the receiver. My theory is to sell the RFs and purchase 2 RBs and an RC. The RB-35 seems to be a great unit, but it is harder to find than the RB-61. The 35s seem beefier and all around a better speaker - no? Please chime in with your opinions and if you know where I may find some good-condition used RBs / RC. Thanks, Chris
  2. My current surge protector is a generic power strip. I figure I should invest in one with a connected equipment warranty. I'm not interested in power conditioning or UPS capability. A few questions concerning what to watch for when shopping: - How should I consider Joule rating? - What are people's favorite brands? - Should the type of equipment and the amount of power it draws be considered? Could this in any way affect the manufacturer's connected equipment warranty? Thanks for any suggestions!
  3. Vindeville, you have email.
  4. I'm in Baltimore, MD. I have a room that's about 12 x 16, so I was looking at 25-31 or 20-39 PCi or PC Plus.
  5. I'm looking to add a sub to take some stress off my RF-35s and extend my range down low. If anyone is upgrading or looking to sell, I'm in the market. Chris
  6. After reading some bad comments on these two in the forums, I am leaning towards an HK 730 eBay or elsewhere (anyone looking to sell). However, I am thinking for movies I may want a remote to adjust volume as movies have quite the dynamic range, no? Some people suggested NAD, Rotel, Nakamichi and a few others - is there a series or model that is popular (in a similar fashion to how popular the HK 430/730 are from the vintage area)? Eager to get my RF35's pushing air TIA Chris
  7. Just grabbed some RF-35s on closeout. I've heard HK, Onkyo, Marantz, and Denon all have quality going way back. Since I have only 2 speakers, shouldn't a stereo receiver that can push about 80 watts/channel be sufficient? Any recommendations on vintage stuff? I see all kinds of things on auction on the web. Other sites with classifieds? And, on second thought, I'm not set on vintage, so anything newer is fine. Is it possible to find a quality unit for less than $100? TIA, Chris
  8. First set of Klipsch speakers for me (not counting ProMedia). Was convinced on some used RB-35's for around $350. Dropped by a store today and they've got demo model RF-35's for $650 closeout - cosmetically perfect, nothing looks or sounds amiss; is that really such a good deal? New in box RB-25's on closeout for $500. I'm conflicted as I plan to begin expanding my purchase into a HT within the next 2 years. Seem like the bigger deals like the RF-35's won't be around until Klipsch refreshes the line again? TIA, Chris
