  1. I just picked up a 6V6 version for $60 on ebay, and it sounds sweet through my Cornwall clones. It's difficult to go back to solid state after listening to tubes.
  2. popbumper, Thanks I appreciate it, like speakerfritz says were working on a local deal. Who knows, down the road, some friends of mine might be interested.
  3. Hi Erland, that would be great. I will send you an email with all the details.
  4. Are you possibly selling 2 empty Cornwall boxes? If so, what are you asking.
  5. Thanks for all the advice. This project is going to take time due to $ and time constraints. I will keep looking for the K55's and k33's. What's a fair price for these? I know someone who repairs antique furniture for a living, I might give him a call for some help. He does amazing work. I live in Upstate NY.
  6. Thanks, I would appreciate that. That Cornwall project was amazing, great job. How much did it cost you. I recently got a tablesaw and haven't had any "projects " to do. I am new at this, and obviously your very skilled at woodworking. Should I have the wood cut by a lumber yard or attempt it myself? And would using wood other than Birch have a different timbre (Oak, Beech, Poplar).
  7. I really had the K-55's in mind, know anyone selling some? I would like K33's also, but have JBL's sitting around and figured I could use them for something, maybe I could save them and pair them with the Altec horns for another project. I don't see the K33's on Ebay that much, are they still available and what do they cost? I originally was going to build a set of Heresy's to match my others, but was looking for a little more bottom end. The Heresy's don't match my RF3's to well. So here I am.
  8. I am looking for some help and advice on possibly building "Cornwall type" speakers. Bear with me on this, i'm new to DIY projects. I have a lot of questions, and I have a mix of parts sitting around. Heres a list of what I have: 2 K-77's 2 15" JBL'S D130-F, D-140F 8ohm 2 E type networks 2 Altec 808-8A drivers w/o horns 8ohm The 1 JBL needs a recone, kids..got love em. Questions: I was wondering if this combination would be feasible in a cornwall size box. Should I scrap the idea of using the Altec for some K-55's, if I can find some. Should I use MDF or wood for the box. Can the E type networks be converted to one that would work with this combination. Does anyone have specs on how to build a Cornwall box. Also I have seen 2 different versions, side mounted tweeter and mid vs. top, what is the difference. If anyone can point me in the right direction I would appreciate it.
  9. Thanks for all the advice, everyone has been very helpful, since this is somewhat new to me. Not listening, upgrading. My system isn't very bright. Think I will go with the Dayton 30uF and the Theta for the 2uF. I plan on using the Heresys for my rear surrounds. I am trying to get them to match my RF3's and CF6 as close as possible, I did have the KSB2.1's as my rears. Any suggestions on that would be appreciated also. I am trying to decide on risers for the Heresys/ what height, I will be making them. I have been a Klipsch fan for awhile now,(Since I saw the LaScalas for the first time) and try to inform my friends on how great and efficient these speakers are. It amazes me how many people have never heard of them, considering how long they have been around. Oh well enough of my ramblings. Thanks again for everyones help, I'm sure I'll be asking many more questions.
  10. Thanks dflip, I was wondering what specs on the caps should be, I know I need 2uF and 33uF, but what should the voltage be? 200 on the 2 and 400 on the 33? And what would the difference be if it was less or more. I forgot to mention, they are Heresy xovers.
  11. When upgrading capacitors on a xover, can you use foil and poly? Or is it not recommended.
  12. Hello DrTUBE, Sorry I didn't get back to you quick enough to help you. I am about to get a pair of 81 Heresy's, im sure they will have the E2 xovers, and I would greatly appreciate any mods to help them sound better.(they already sound great).
  13. Thanks again for your help. Although I have a few more questions. What caps should I use to replace the existing ones, and where can I find them? Where will I connect the 33uF caps, and where would the best placement be? I was also wondering what series my Heresy is,it has a k-77,k-52H,k22R in it. On the back top of the cabinet 142x554. Should I look for the same speakers for my diy project or will there be compatability issues with other Klipsch speakers with the E2 xover. I really appreciate all the help.
  14. Thanks, for the help. do you know where I can get the Aerovox caps? I only need one for each xover right. Should I replace the 2 uF caps also. On the E xovers, I noticed a wire running from the woofer through each of the terminals, is that normal? I have a couple pics, sorry one is a little blurry. Thanks again.
  15. I could use some expert help. I just picked up a pair of Heresy E crossovers, I have 1 Heresy speaker and plan on a diy project for the 2nd. The one I have has an E2 crossover in it. I noticed on the E2 that there is Aerovox caps; but on the E there are 2 small caps and 2 transformers, and thats it. I asked the person I bought them from if they were missing anything, and he said no and they worked fine. Also will I be able to replace the E2 xover with the E. I have a couple pictures, if anyone can help I would appreciate it. Could someone tell me how to get photos in here?
