  1. TommyK, Thanks for the input. I currently use a non amplified Zone Player in another room into a Yamaha receiver and you are right it sounds great. However since this is only the bedroom I was hoping to use the Zone Player with the amp but with a little more bass. Thanks
  2. Thanks for the info bhendrix! I think I will try my existing RW-12d in the bedroom just to see what it does however I like your idea of a less expensive sub like the sub 12.
  3. I just recently installed a pair of Klipsch CDT-5800-C speakers in the ceiling of my master bedroom. The bedroom is approximately 15x17 with a vaulted ceiling. The speakers are connected to a Sonos ZP-120 55/watt per channel amplifier. The rear of the speakers are completely exposed to the attic of the house with no enclosures built around them. Like all my other Klipsch speakers in my house, the CDT-5800's sound fantastic whether listening to music from my Windows Home Server or with various on-line music services. While I had the listened to these speakers prior to purchasing them, I was still amazed at how loud and clear these speakers played in my master bedroom. However having said all that, I was hoping to get a little more bass from the CDT-5800's than I currently am. Since this is the master bedroom I do not want to get too crazy, however I was hoping to get a few opinions on the following: 1. Would creating an encloure in the attic for these speakers, or maybe using a Dynabox, help with the low frequencies of the CDT-5800-c speakers? 2. Should I just bite the bullet and purchase a small subwoofer for the bedroom? and if so any suggestions for a sub to match up with the CDT-5800's? 3. I also have a perfect place in the bedroom to install an in-wall subwoofer....any suggestions or comments??? As always any comments or suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks
  4. I inquired about this a month or so ago and I was told that they are no longer made in white and I couldn't find a dealer that had any left in stock. So I went with Definitive Technology Pro-Monitor 800's in white....Check them out I am pretty happy with them!
  5. Thanks colterphoto1! I would most likely prefer the R-5800-W speakers for LCR as well however I have a concrete stud that runs exactly down the center of the tv wall and I thought that maybe I could straddle the stud with the R-5502-W for the center speaker. Do you think that I should purchase a matching RW12-D subwoofer to go with the one that I have...or some other idea for a sub or subs? Thanks again for the advice!
  6. My current home theater room (basement) is 14'x30' with the seating area approximately 11 feet from the tv. I currently have a Yamaha RXV-2600 receiver with the following speakers in a 7.1 configuration ....Klipsch RVX-42 speakers for LCR, Klipsch R-5650-S for side surrounds and CDT-5650-C for rear surrounds and a Klipsch RW-12 D subwoofer. The RVX-42 speakers are mounted on each side of a Panasonic 50 inch plasma and the center below the tv. While I am pretty happy with the system, I would like to replace the RVX-42's with in-wall LCR speakers such as the Klipsch 5502 speakers or possibly R-5800-W speakers for LCR's. I plan to keep the existing side surrounds Klipsch R-5650-S speakers. I also plan to replace the CDT-5650-C rear surrounds with CDT-5800-C speakers. The rear surrounds are mounted in ceiling and aimed toward the seating area aproximately 10 feet from the back wall. I may add a second RW-12D subwoofer....maybe! This room is currently used for 60 percent music and 40 percent home theater but will probably change to 50/50 once I install a new 100 inch acoustic screen and Panasonic projector. Does any have any suggestion on what I am planning or preference's on the LCR speakers? FYI the Panasonic 50" plasma is staying as the electric acoustic screen will drop down in front of the plasma tv for movie viewing. I know a little overkill but what the heck it will be pretty cool since I alreayd have the plasma wall mounted. I also plan on widening the sound by installing the in-wall LR speakers further away from each other than the current RVX-42 speakers. I know I am asking alot in one post..... but..... Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks
  7. Was wondering if any Klipsch in-ceiling speakes will hold up to the potential moisture conditions in a bathroom? Typical master bathroom with shower used daily and a whirlpool tub used occassionally. What I was hoping to do was move a pair of existing cdt-5650 speakers from another room in the house to the bathroom mentioned. Anyone that can lend some experiences with this type of installation would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
  8. Thanks bhendrix and youthman I may try to use the Klipsch in-wall 5502 speakers for LCR and since the concrete stud is in the exact center I may try to notch the stud enough so that the horn will not hit it and hopefully the 2 woofers in the 5502 will straddle the stud on either side. If this does not work then I may take your suggestion bhendrix and build out the center just enough to clear the stud for the center speaker. Not sure exactly what you mean youthman about combing with 2 center speakers but I take it you have experience with this potential problem and since you are the second person to tell me to stay away from 2 centers.....I better! Thanks again!
  9. I currently have my home theater setup with a Panasonic 50 inch plasma wall mounted with Klipsch RVX-42 as LCR speakers also mounted on wall with the center RVX-42 mounted below the TV. I plan to install a front projector along with a ceiling mounted acoustic electric screen so that it comes down in front of the Panasonic plasma. What I would like to do at this point is to replace the RVX-42 speakers with in wall speakers, howerver this is where the problem comes in. The exact center of the TV and future projector screen has a concrete stud mounted behind it which causes a problem when installing a center channel in-wall. I have thought of either installing 1 in-wall center channel to either the right or left of the concrete stud and installing just a matching grill to the other side for asthetic purposes..however that may cause the center channel sound to be off center. -OR- I have considered installing in-wall center speakers on either side of the stud but have been told that this would not sound correct? Also I would prefer to not install an on-wall speaker for the center channel. Anyone have any comments or suggestions? Thanks
  10. Does any know if the Klipsch RSX-4 speakers ever came in white and if so any idea on where I might be able to purchase them?
  11. Thanks Willland, I really appreciate the quick reply!!!!
  12. Can anyone tell me the actual dimensions of an RSX-4 speaker without including the stand??? I am assuming that the dimensions on the Klipsch RSX-4 page includes the stand when refering to the overall height??? Thanks to anyone that can help me out!!!
  13. Bob, Thanks for some great advice on my delima! I was initially leaning towards the RVX 42's until my local Klipsch dealer suggested the in wall's over the 42's with his reasoning being that the in wall 8" woofer would out perform the 4" in the 42's. However, I think I will take your advice and move the seating postion up a few feet and place the speakers a little wider on the wall. Any comment on my choice or surrounds? Is the RS 52's overkill? and what about the RSX5's as rear surrounds? Thanks again
  14. I am installing my first Home Theater in my recently finished basement and need some advice on speakers. The room size is 13' x 31' with 9' ceilings. On the 13 foot wall I will be wall mounting a Panasonic 50 inch plasma TV. The direct viewed seating will be approximately 15' from the TV. I also will be powering the speakers with a Yamaha RX-V2600 receiver. All wires to the tv and speakers are either run behind the base boards or in the walls or ceilings. Here is where the I need some experienced advice on choosing which Klipsch speakers to purchse for a 7.1 system, keeping in mind that this system will be used for approximately 50/50 movies and music. Option 1: Front LCR - RVX 42 Wall mounted next to and underneath the plasma Side Surrounds - RS52 Mounted at the 15 foot direct viewing distance Rear Surrounds - RSX5 Mounted at approximately 10 feet behind direct view seating Subwoofer - RW12, One or do I need two? Option 2: Same surrounds and Sub options but: Front LCR - R5800W mounted next to and underneath the plasma. Howerver with this option the dead center of the plasma, believe it or not, has an 2 inch wide concrete stud running floor to celiing which would require me shifting the plasma a few inches to the right and mounting the speaker slightly off center. But I could then angle the horm back towards the center. OR could I mount another R5800W on the left side of the concrete stud underneath of the plasma and use both speakers for a center channel. This would eliminate the off center asthetics but would this work from an audio standpoint??????? Option 3: Front LR - R5800W mounted next to the plasma Center - RVX 42 mounted on wall underneath the plasma. and the same options for surrounds and sub as option 1 and 2. Will I have any problems matching the RVX center with the R5800W in wall left and right speakers? While I know this is along post, If anyone could offer some advice or actual experiences I would greatly appreciate it. I am open minded to other Klipsch options, however I would prefer to not use floor standing speakers for the LCR speakers. Thanks
