  1. "Vinyl is the my main listening format and the system, although set up for HT, is used that way minimally." I can go probably 8-9 feet tweeter to tweeter...but the seating, as I said, is 7 feet away. Also, in the previous set up, before tiling, there was no interference from the tv. The main focus of my question is leave the audio rack next to the tv or move it to the left front corner????? Dave
  2. I am in the process of tiling my basement, and soon I will be re-assembling my audio/home theater system where a pair of Cornwalls serve as the mains. Previously, on the wall as you face the tv, I had the audio rack with mono amps, preamp, phono pre, turntable, cd player, and 5.1 channel receiver just to the left of the tv. Then, one Cornwall was just to the right of the tv, and one was just to the left of the audio rack. (By the way, the tv is NOT flat panel, its an older 36" tv that sits on a tv rack that also holds a dvd player and a game console.) My question is this, would it be better to move the audio rack to the far left, and have the left side Cornwall next to the TV? In doing that, I would have a better listening triangle with the tweeter to tweeter distance 7 feet and the seating 7 feet away. However, this puts the audio rack in the far left corner of that tv wall, and I worry about the turntable in that location. (Vinyl is the my main listening format and the system, although set up for HT, is used that way minimally.) I should mention that the previous set up was very good, I would just toe in the left speaker a bit more than the right. Still, I wonder if I would get better imaging if I moved the audio rack out of the center, leaving just the tv/tv rack. Your thoughts are appreciated. Dave
  3. Sorry if I was not clear...the risers are original stock, but I am not sure if the metal FEET on the risers are original stock. I am another week from being able to take a pic as everything is in disarray from the tiling. Dave
  4. Hi, I have had to switch from carpeting to ceramic tile in my basement listening room. (Not optimal, I know, but it had to be done.) The tile is being installed atop poured concrete. Right now my Cornwall stands have metal feet on the bottom...I am not sure if those were stock or not, as I bought the speakers second hand. I would prefer to keep using the stands, but cannot imagine that metal feet on tile is a good combination. What do you all recommend? Also, at this point, the stands are not permanently attached to the speakers...is that a no-no? If I should attach them, how and with what? Thanks for your help, Dave
  5. Just resurrecting an old thread here.... Have had my 1975 Cornwalls for a week now. I definitely find the highs lightly muted with the grills on. My sytem is not at all bright to start with, so I have been leaving them off to retain those highs. Any new opinions here regarding this old topic? Dave
  6. There are very few audio purchases I've made in the past 20 somethign years that have resulted in this much happiness and fulfillment. The Cornwalls are all I could have wished for. I cannot listen to enough music! Literally hours today, and I have the day off tomrorow!! Lucky me. A funny side note, I had my vta adjusted to favor the bass side of things because the previous speakers were Heresy's. Boy, did I have to rework THAT adjustment with the Cornwalls. Dave
  7. Fate...definitely. Yeah, I live right in Exeter and have been looking for Cornwalls since I first bought my Heresys over a year ago. Like most folks, he didn't want to even consider shipping those lovely monsters, so he was elated to find someone local to buy. And, of course, I was elated to not have to worry about a pair being shipped. Dave
  8. Hi all, Well I pulled the trigger! My wife is gonna sh%$ when she sees how BIG they are. I didn't even realize it myself until I got there. I almost said no because it's gonna be tight quarters in my main system, and they are too damn nice to go in my second system. Going back with my son to load them up tonight. I'll report back once I get them hooked up to my system. D
  9. Own some Heresy, but am looking at a pair of Cornwall Ones tomorrow. Anything I should specifically ask? They are consecutive in order, and they have the risers. Dave
