  1. well problem is I had the RF7 (reference). Had to sell them cause they were TOO big and got a good price for them. That is why the KL650 caught my attention.(small, high efficiency and with, muscles, I believe) On the other side would a decent PA speaker do the job for me ? For example a speaker like this one http://www.ad-systems.com/typo3/index.php?id=42&L=1 Do the KL650 differ a lot to a decent PA speaker ?
  2. All, am interested in Klipsch Heresy & THX ultra for front & center. Am using the A7S-450 sub from Elemental ! What would be the major differences in sound between the KL650 and the Heresy III ? Anyone compared Klipsch THX Ultra and Jamo D7 ?
  3. well that makes me doubt again about the little Sunfire.....
  4. Well I do have faith in the 2x KW120 package. RT12D vs Sunfire Signature EQ however keeps interesting for me cause both have auto EQ. Besides that the Sunfire sure is small, but you are right small often is a compromise ! Had hoped anyone would have tested the RT12D vs the Sunfire Signature......... or an online test or whatever.
  5. Well I could have gotten those KW120 subs really for a decent price but I was not fast enough. I can get 2 "B stock " KW120's now + needed AMP, however they are quite big..... If you would compare RT12D vs the Sunfire True Signature would the Klipsch blow it away and outperform it ? Are the KW120's much better than the RT12D ?
  6. In combination with RF7 which sub will do best [^o)] 2xKW120 1x RT12D 1x Sunfire True EQ Signature Regards,
  7. Hi, did anyone have info on this. Heard somewhere that the new SVS ultra series will have a 15inch Chassis...... Maybe someone knows more ????? Marcel
  8. Jay, well if you wanna make a clone or earn money by starting up a subwoofer company, then simply sent a complete SVS sub to China. They will clone it and ship it back to you for sure. You can then start your own sub line / brand --->"Jaysub"
  9. Hi, Well I do own the +2 sub with 12.3 driver. We did compare it to a +2 sub with the 12.2 driver, which already were fine drivers !! Pro 12.3: -even faster reaction -improved mid bass -more musical -improved efficiency
  10. Friends, An additional power amp for the fronts does not only work well with Denon receivers, believe me :) I have the RXV2600 and for the RF7 I use a Yamaha MX Power Amp and the difference sure is huge. By adding an additional power amp you will give any receiver (in this receiver price range) more air to breath. If the fronts do not need to be powered more power is available for the rest of the speakers in the system which are most of the time even smaller than the fronts so easier to drive, so you are helping your receiver a lot !! More power, more bass performance and your system will never shut down and you do not need to be scared for low impendance loads, cause if an additional power amp does not work what then ? (except for calling Israely Air Force to buzz your receiver and fly home again safely, you do not need a radar invisable stealth fighter, they proved it ghe ghe ghe -) I am considering to replace the MX Power Amp ( for the RF7 ) by a more powerful PA Amp. Regards from a warm Europe, Marcel
  11. All, Thanks so far ! Do understand that a PA amp does not look that nice and that they are cooled by a fan. But if it comes up to sound would a PA amp do the job better or not ? Am Interested in a professional amp like: QSC / Crown / Yamaha / Samson Servo / Carver
  12. Hi, Need more power for my RF7 speakers. Now I am wondering whether to buy a Hifi Power Amp or a good PA Power Amp ?? What is the technical difference between a PA amp and a Hifi Power Amp ??
  13. Hi Jay, Yeah it is really big, I put the sub now in the back ( left ) as it was the only place where I could put it. It is now corner loaded, I had my Acoustic Research W38 sub situated there before and it only boomed. The AR was a nasty sub and did not know when to shut up at all, so when I put the SVS there I was so scared it would boom too but amazingly it did not boom at all. Maybe that is the difference between an average subwoofer (AR) and a very good subwoofer (SVS) ? To make the set complete I would have loved to have a Klipsch sub at home but in Europe the RSW15 ( Klipsch the World does not end in the U.S. Wake Up !!! ) is not available so the most powerful / active and moderate priced Klipsch sub for me was the RSW12 and that one just wasn't good enough for me, unfortunately. Then I got the chance to get a demo PLUS2 with the new drivers in it and really as new, listened to it and fell in love. Ok it is big and quite ugly but for me it does all the things I need and at a price I can just afford. Plays wonderful with music and is really awesome with HT. While watching movies I am always smiling, it is so violent, goes so deep and loud ( sub set to 1/4 gain ) but on a nice controlled way. Ok there are / should be many better subwoofers for music, I would prefer a Velodyne DD18 /1812 too but then I have to sell a kidney I think......In the price categorie the +2 is in my opnion the CHAMP.
  14. It sure is BIG but for me it works fine. But never listen too much to people and find for yourself the best subwoofer. Whether REL or Velodyne or whatever, it should make YOU feel happy. ( do not look at all the stuff on the ground and so on, what playing a bit with the SVS and my system )
  15. I have been looking for a musical and HT sub for a long time as well, and first it had to be a small sized subwoofer. So I did listen to several subs........ Mj Acoustics, Velodyne, Rel, Klipsch RSW. From all of these I liked the RSW12 best, fast reaction and real strong in the upper bass, it quite impressed me actually. Music it played wonderful, fast....acccurate and it was quite capable with HT. But for HT I found it missed the serious impact ! As I own the RF7 I was a bit scared that the RSW12 would not dramatically improve my situation. The RF7 are fast and powerful in the upper bass too and can kick hard. So why adding a sub that would do almost the same? Remind, the RF7 when connected to a powerful amp sure can make you feel the bass and sounds wonderful. So in the end to match my RF7 perfectly I switched from a small subwoofer to almost a huge cabinet. I bought the SVS Plus 2 (12.3), never heard and SVS before but I must admit for me it sounds perfect. Works really well with the RF7 and in HT it will blow you out off your seat for sure..........
  16. My friends, I own the RF7 / RC7 too. Powered by Yamaha MX830/630 power amps connected to my RXV2600 receiver. Am still very happy with these Klipsch speakers ! But do the RF7 really have such a high efficiency ? Besides that when watching the frequency / impendance response ( saw it somewhere on the net ) cannot we better speaker about the RF7 being 4 Ohm speakers ? Maybe that is why some receivers do not push them enough cause a lack of power supply, cause they definately go down to around 2,8 Ohms ?
  17. Thanks for your reply !! Heard the RSW12, did like it quite well but can be better ! How does the RSW12 do compared to the EP500 or the SVS ? Will these last 2 easily outperform the RSW12......? What is your impression ?
  18. Hi, Did someone compare these 3 subs ?
  19. Dr Who / The Ear, Really thanks so far, you are helping me alot !! Did listen yesterday to the Mj Acoustics Ref 1 MK3, in my opinion on the same level as a REL Storm 5. The MJ went really low and quite loud but it did not give me a 100% good feeling (besides that it was a hell of an ugly piece). It went deep, really deep but I missed simply something so the MJ has failed my test. It played together with some smaller Dynaudio Bookshelf speakers....... I found this sub played a bit boring just like it looked! Hard to explain.......... The Sunfire I have no opportunity to test unfortunately, so I will need to buy it blindly in a different country (Austria) as Sunfire Holland / Belgium and Germany do not reply to any emails. ( did not contact them before so it is hard to understand for me that they are not interested in selling products ) For me it is hard to believe such a tiny Sunfire box really will kick my ugly European *** hard and on a mean way now I have heard the MJ REF 1 I also heard some smaller European Subs, like Quadral Powercube 400 but they all also did not convince me. These tiny boxes and especially all the European Subs in general play loud but as soon as frequencies go really deep ( lower than 30 / 40 HZ ) they miss the power. They do acchieve a lot of DB but not when things go really low then the DB output fades away. So at the moment I think I can better quit thinking about a small subwoofer that kicks ***.I am now thinking about perhaps the SVS PB PLUS 2 or the Axiom EP500 now. I will have to re-organise my livingroom drastically then but I do not wanna buy something that does not satisfy me at all. Overhere the PB Plus 2 will soon get the new drivers so maybe I can get the PB PLUS 2 with the previous drivers cheaper ? I also did contact Axiom Canada for the EP500 if they have 230 V versions available for the European markets and perhaps are interested to send me one of their subs for a reasonable price? Do you guys have experience with the SVS PLUS 2 and the Axiom or perhaps now any other great / better American sub for the same price as a PB plus 2 or the EP500 so I can contact that company. Or is the PB plus 2 really the ultimate one in its price category ? Sure did wish I would live in the USA, better equipment, better prices, better SUBWOOFERS.......... Best regards, Marcel
  20. Hi Dr Who, Do live in Europe !!!!!! The RSW12 will cost me 699 Euro and the little Sunfire TRUE EQ 1375 Euro so twice as much My max budget = 1500 Euro Just remind Europe is freaking expensive for example a standard SVS Plus 2 will cost me 1699 Euro so about 1950 USD or slightly more ( for the standard black text. version, so the cheapest version ) 1 liter of regular petrol costs 1,30 euro so about 1,50 USD a liter, a gallon contains 3.75 liter so overhere one gallon of regular fuel costs 3.75 x 1,50 = near the 5 / 6 dollar for a gallon !! Sad but true !! At the moment ok the Klipsch if it comes up to the $$ is the best just I am afraid the RSW12 will not really make a huge impact on my system ? it goes down to 22HZ so probably reach its max output around 35 / 40 HZ while even the tiny Sunfire reaches 18 HZ or something like that with a claimed 110 DB ?? What would better suit the RF7 in general, a punching in the chest sub like the RSW12 or a deep impact monster like a PB2 or the more moderate sized Sunfire ?? In my opinion the RF7 already do have a real tight punch ! So adding a punching sub ? The RSW15 is not available in EUROPE............( hate that policy ) The new Klipsch subs RT12D will cost way too much and besides that will probably enter European markets somewhere next year ?? Europe generally gets new US stuff much later...... Regards, Marcel
  21. The Ear, What would be the best sub to add to the RF7 in your opinion ? The RSW12 or the TRUE EQ ?......( not the signature but the normal True EQ ) The RF7's already have a hard punch due to the double Chassis and go down to 30HZ if I am not wrong..........and the RSW12 does not go much lower ?) ?) So would it be wise to add the RSW12 to my system ? Speaking in terms of deep bass, power, reaction speed and slam which sub would help the RF7 best ? If it does deep and hard and power is required which of these 2 subs holds on longest ?
  22. Hi Arthur, Thanks for your reply !! Did not listen to any of these little subs, yet. Sunfire is hard to find overhere in Europe and Velodyne too. I could buy the RSW12 for a very good price, just this one is really to deep ( size ) for my house..... Did you ever compare the Sunfire with any other well known sub ? RSW 12 Klipsch...... I sure do like the RSW12 just the size ( tears......) Regards, Marcel
  23. Hi all, Just bought me the RF7 + RC7 center. Great sound !! Am thrilled..... Now I am looking for a small sub but which one works out well with my speakers. The sub should be small when it comes up to dimensions but huge when it comes up to output / slam / depth. Unfortunately the RSW12/15 are way too big for me. Does anyone have experience with: Sunfire Subs ( true, dominator, solitaire ) Mj Acoustics Pro 1650 / 500 / Ref 1 REL R505 / Q400 Velodyne SPL1200 R Regards, Marcel
