  1. I think the major thing is that Bonds cheated. Whether he is ever caught or not. Steroids are like amps. Is a 200 wpc mac going to make your music sound better or is a jvc boom box. More power = better performance. You are right in the fact everyone is doing it these days. But, the point is, did Bonds break Aarons record, and the answer is NO. Aaron was not taking steroids when he set the record, and if he had been doing steroids, I am sure you could easily add a few 100 to what he did hit. It's just like body building. There is no way possible a person on steroids can compete with a guy that is not.

  2. I have vista and after some toying around with the defaults I really like it. As far as compatibility issues it has a place where you can go in and tell the OS to run as XP for backward compatibility. Vista was a completely new system, all prior OS still had a dos plateform in one way or another. Vista does not. Give the industry some time to catch up with vista and you will like it. It is much more like a mac than a windows and I am a mac user and once you go mac you never go back. But, for a laptop I did not feel like shelling out $2400.

Good to hear you audio equipment made it out alive. I need to make my wife read this post since she thinks a $200 "strip plug" is outrageous.

  3. As Amy explained it to me it works like this.....If they have wood veneer, they are still made in hope. If they do not, they are made in China. Made in China, but inspected by American's and built to Klipsch standards, or they do not become Klipsch. 82's are a breat speaker, but buy the 7's or someday soon you will kick yourself very hard for not getting the 7's. I have compared them all and I like the 83's so I am holding out till I am done with school.

  5. My two channel receiver has one channel that does not work so I am looking for a new two channel receiver. I was hoping a forum member may have one that is affordable.($100 or less) It is just for the basement, not a dedicated two channel listening room or anything of the sort.

Glenn-what is the name of that company, located in MI, that produces the (foam?)? I remember reading about them in one of the threads on the forum but cannot recall the name of the company.

    Thanks!

    -David

PS Hmm, is it "Foam Factory?"

  7. Sorry to join the conversation so late. I smoked for about 15 years and its been almost 7 since I quit. Today smoking makes me sick. I can't stand to be within 15 ft. of it. The secret for me was realizing just how(excuse my harshness) retarded it was. I spend $3.50 a day so I can be out of breath and eventually die a miserable death. Not to mention I was supporting the very terrorist's, yes I said terrorist's, who knowingly and willingly for profit contribute to the death of 1200 American's everyday with a smile on their face. 100 of those are people who die from 2nd hand smoke. They knew since day one that it would kill people and they spent millions insuring that it was attractive to young kids so they would start young and be slaves till their eventual death. They should honestly outlaw cigarettes and put the tobacco company executives on trial for murder. IMHO of course!

  8. The only downside to the Rf-82 system(which I have).....Is you are constantly looking at the Rf-83 system like she's the one you should have married. The only question left in your mind in the end is when you can divorce this wife and be able to afford the new wife!!! Speakers are a vicious cycle!!! Because once you have the 83s you start staring at Khorns! Welcome to the madness!!!

  9. Being one of the forum's newlyweds myself I probably don't qualify for the advice department, but the past 4 months have been the greatest 4 months of my life. Enjoy and may God bless you both abundantly. Now this reminds me that I should probably get to writing those thank-you notes!!![*-)]

  10. Well as many know my wife and I moved into our house in January and this is our first spring here. I could spend 2 months full-time in the yard and still have work to do. The people before us had two little kids and two 120 pound dogs which really put some wear and tear on the landscaping; not to mention the plain old neglect of "normal up keep" on many things. So I spent the day in the yard working.

And, I dare not complain about this at all because the misses would point out that she wanted a condo because of less up keep, but someone she knew had gigantic speakers and no self control so we were forced to buy a house.[:D]

  11. Here's my two cents....I own neither but a while back I was wondering if I should get the Rf-7s before they were nolonger available. I went down to the audio visual systems store and listened to the rf-7 and 83 side by side being powered by a high dollar crown amp and I actually thought the 83s had a better mid sound and the rf7 beat the 83 in the low end, but thats what a good sub is for. The horns are almost identical except for a 1/4 inch difference with the 83s being the smaller one. I personally liked the 83s better. So, I am being patient till I am done with school to buy the 83s although the rf7s for 1000 on the ebay store is tempting.

  12. It seems like this all happened over a bad break-up. The problem today is are youth are raised with such a spoiled sense of entitlement and are hardly ever told no. They get what they want any time they want it. Then when they hit the real world and learn rejection and that they can not always get their way they can not handle it. So, stuff like this happens. By age 12 I knew rejection and that life was not a walk in the park. My girlfriend dumps me, I call a few friends and get drunk; not purchase a gun and kill 30 people because I could not have my way.

  13. As an electrician I have seen some very impressive copper wire. I am not fond of pulling 500 through conduit. Not to mention when you get into wire that is bigger it is possible to give yourself a heart attack just trying to bend it in order to terminate it. You figure 1ft. of 500 weighs about 3lbs.. If you had to pull a 50ft. run you would have 150lbs. of speaker wire. The cost is comparable to a set of Klipsch speakers.

  14. I never meant to draw into question the quality of the China made Klipsch. My speakers say made in China and they freakin rock! I just prefer American made. Call me nostalgic. I bought a used monkey wrench the other day that is rusted beyond repair just because it said made in Pitts. Pa!! You will not find a tool made with PA. steel these days. As far as free trade....China charges tariffs on everything we export to them and we accept their imports free of charge. How is that free trade? Its a very slanted deal for the American worker. Unfortunantly a few American's are getting rich by this and the rest of us are loosing our jobs. Maybe all this has something to with me being from Detroit where the unemployment rate is almost 8% not including those who have ran out of unemployment benefits such as myself. I may have a job, but I am an electrician working in a restaurant for far less money than I should be making.

  15. Guys, great feedback so far and greatly appreciated.

In all, I'm a bit surprised in the discussion about upgrading the amp now. I guess I figured a Parasound Halo amp is one of the strongest points in my system at the moment, regardless of the 125wpc rating. I have always been under the impression Parasound watts are "better" watts than most other amps. (Maybe its just more conservative. Who knows?) My thoughts are: upgrade the speakers now, and the reciever/pre-amp later when prices come down and the new decoders are available for DTS-HD, etc.

This might sound like a dumb question, but will there be a noticeable difference between the F-3 and RF-83 at moderate volumes or mainly at higher ones? I obviously can't go psycho on the volume much in a townhouse.

Last, are there any good recommendations on TV stands that can hold an RC-64? Its such a monster, and with my arrangment, I would like to leave it below the TV for the time being.

    Thanks!

    John

Well I can say that I had a Sony receiver rated at 110 wpc, I then upgraded to a Outlaw 7100. That made a big difference, then I got a Outlaw 750. Now the difference between the 7100, 100 wpc, and the 750, 165 wpc, is BIG. The volume is not the same at any level, even the low end has more to it.

I think that you will have a cleaner sound from the RF-83's at a lower volume then you would from the F-3's. Then it would just get better from there as the volume goes up. Do you have somewhere that you can listen to both at the same time with your own music? I really believe that this is the best test and no one can say one is better then the other if you can hear the difference for yourself.

As for TV stands I have this one. http://www.bushfurniture.com/bushindustries/bushfurniture/productdetail/productdetail4.jsp?id=VS11536A-03&id18=TV&id19=36

    James

That's a nice stand. It would look real nice flanked by some cherry rf-83s.

  16. Yeah, I am sort of bummed mine say Made In China on them. Ill make sure my next pair does not. As it is obvious by that last statement I will be upgrading.

From when I bought my first Klipsches (KG_4s) in 1989 I have been concerned about place of manufacture. It was important to me and comforting that they were made in Hope. I was actualy very disappointed when I discovered the Made in China issue. Oh well, everything changes. At least some Klipsches are still made american.

    Isn't it American?

    Sorry Colter,

It was 3:00 am in the morning and I had just finished a 12 hour shift, and I am all fuzzy from cold medicine. So, yes it's American!

  17. Just because I am pro-american and prefer to buy american does not make me a racist is any way, shape or form. It has nothing to do with nationality. I prefer to support american workers instead of foreign workers. If that american worker is chinese, or any other nationality I am fine with that. As long as he is going to go to help put money back into the american economy. It gets real old real quick when people accuse you of being racist because you choose to buy and support american.
