  1. The unit I have for sale was made in Hungary. Please tell me more about the Blackgate mod to the power supply. John
  2. I will check when I go back. What are the differences sonically between the vertical ones and the standard horizontal ones? John
  3. Nope. The covers were wood lattice and they looked like sort of like this: http://cgi.ebay.com/Pioneer-CS-A31-Pre-Vintage-3-Way-Large-Stereo-Speakers_W0QQitemZ320081060204 only with a large size lattice. They also did not have the riser underneath them. John
  4. The tag on the back clearly said Cornwall II. At $600 it is not very promising, but as I said before there is more to the story. I will fill you in later. John
  5. There is more to the story, but I really don't wish to post it publicly. If we ever meet, I will fill in all the details. John
  6. Can I still buy the "normal" black cane cover? John
  7. I answered a Craigslist ad for some classic gear and speakers. The ad was very vague so I had no idea what to expect. I get to the house and was shown a pair of Cornwall II's with a lattice front cover. There was no Klipsch badge on the front, but the back still had the Klipsch tag. Has anyone ever seen Cornwalls with a lattice cover? They were very ugly and sort of resembled the old Sansui speakers of the 1960s. I guess I could play them without any grill cover. I was unable to test them because the owner did not have a working stereo. I am going back on Sunday with some of my gear to test them. The owner said they had not been used in years (maybe 20 years). The back of one of them had been removed and was leaning on the speaker. Is there anything I should look for? The asking price was "around" $600. John
  8. bad email address... it is bouncing back. John
  9. What is the asking price? I have been looking for one. John
  10. Philips DVD963SA multichannel SACD/CD/DVD player. This unit is in excellent cosmetic and operational condition. In addition to its multi-channel SACD/CD/DVD capabilities, the DVD963SA has the 192kHz upsampling capability for redbook CDs. DVD performance is also excellent using the Faroudja DCDI chip-set combined with a 108Mhz/13 video DAC. Plays SACD, CD, CD-R, CD-RW, DVD-Video and Video CD. Includes the original box, packing material, power cord, remote control, and owner's manual. $200 which includes shipping to the US via FedEx. I will double-box with the original packing material & box. I am selling because I upgraded to a Denon unit. John
  11. worthless trivia: The guys that eventually became known as Black Sabbath started out playing together as a jazz group. I have no idea what Ozzy did back then. But if you listen closely to some of their early work, you can hear jazz bass lines and some jazz drumming going on behind the huge metallic riffs of the guitar. John
  12. I am a huge swing, bebop, post bop, and latin jazz fan. I have a ton of CDs and LPs in those genres. I am also 39 years old and have been a jazz fan since discovering it at age 18. In my 21 years of listening to jazz, I have never been able to get my brain to understand John Coltrane's Ascension. I love the overwhelming majority of his other work (I have more Coltrane that any other jazz artist), but I just can't seem to enjoy Ascension. I have tried and tried. My wife has asked me never to play it when she is around. I also have the same problem with Ornette Coleman. My brain does not repsond to the dissonance (which is odd cause I am a even bigger fan of punk music than jazz). I also struggle with some fusion. ******* Brew sometimes to me is brilliant and other times it is difficult to enjoy. However, recently, I have been enjoying Rashaan Roland Kirk and not all his music is pretty or easy to listen to. John
  13. My local Best Buy also has the Klipsch Reference series subs. Which one are better? This is for music only, no HT. John
  14. What about a 10 inch sub? 12 maybe too big for my room. I will be using it with Cornwalls. John
  15. Best Buy is currently running a deal where all home theater over $1,000 gets 3 years financing with no interest. I was thinking about getting a subwoofer. Which Klipsch sub would be a nice addition to a pair of Cornwalls? I was also going to buy an audio rack to get to the $1,000 mark. Thanks!
