  1. Hi my friend is now a proud new owner of a mint pair of KG3.5 He couldnt be happier with the performance and the price. Thank you all for your kind input on making his first audio system a kind reality! spwal
  2. cool. he is a rocker and i do think all these things -- bargain, sound, sensitivity... thank you very much, i will continue to search. they seem very plentiful in the west coast which is a good thing! i think i will focus on finding him the KG 3.5 unless someone feels strongly otherwise. spwal
  3. Hi buck, yep its me! saw them live last week in boston, what a great great show!! wow. they just keep rockin! well, kg 4 ok i guess -- big though. he has a 13 watt tube amp, so thats what i need to work with. need db sensitivity to be up over 91ish methinks. thank you very much, spwal
  4. Hi, Sorry, more of a jbl-er these days, but trying to help a buddy get into hifi. KG seem alot cheaper than Heresy that i used to have $-wise. are these a good starter speaker? will they rock his world? can i put them against a wall or will they boom like crazy? I can still stick to Herseys-- but would like to find a pair in san fran that have new capacitors. i know its a long shot but worth waiting (perhaps) he can do tall speakers but doesnt need over kill. suggestions and thoughts more than welcome. need to keep well under 500! thanks!
  5. I loved the combo of 45 set and Cornwalls with alk network in my 15X20 bedroom on the longwall with my head agaist the back wall. Man i miess my cornwalls...
  6. hi, plenty of people are doing battery operated man. I cant live whout my battery modded SB2. Please take the time to see one of the gurus who is paving the way for hiend battery modification. Vinny is one of the most upstanding guys in audio. Give him a ring during EST business hours. He will be happy to help you out im sure. www.redwineaudio.com his low power stuff is the reason i went looking for high efficiency speakers, and I have him to thank indirectly for my wonderful cornwalls. once you go battery powered, you never go back Sean
  7. I put my Cornwalls on solid cement blocks. They sound alot better than when they were on the carpet. Not only tweeter height, but also a crisper bass. What I want to try is putting them on spikes... in my quick survey of this thread, i didnt see anyone do that.
  8. My Korneff 1.5 watt 45se monoblocks will knock you on your *** with my '76 Cornwalls, and no, you cant have them!
  9. Leaving friday for the moe show. hope the weather holds out. I got some 79 cornwalls. really great sounding. I love these speakers! Problem is they are very big and I dont know how long my brothers patience will last... oh well.
  10. I am completely satisfied with these, even in my small room. they exceeded my expectations by a factor of 10. The world needs to know about Klipsch! The cabinets were much better than the ad said, no scratches at all. New ALK network with Jensen PIO caps and Kimber cable wiring. I really really lucked out. I love them!
  11. i like bill evans and chick corea alot. I love medeski martin and wood! but that is the bootyshaking jamband lover in me. Check them out: www.mmw.net sean
  12. garymd you coming to moe.down? (just going off the steal your face avatar)
  13. dude, you HAVE room. I see enough clearance there to stack on on top of the other... you just might need to move the military pic over slighty. bucks, check my post about moe.down. it will be fun! and its real music, not music thorugh gear. isnt that the point after all? ;p
  14. moe down is a annual 3 day show put on by moe., arguably the most talented jam band of this generation. If you are anywhere near Turin (about an hour north of utica, right on the mid western border of adirondack state park) I would suggest you go check it out. The vibe and the music is great!!! Take the ski lift up and listen up at the top of the "'mountain" (pretty small but a great natural ampithearter). It is at snow ridge ski area. Here is the line-up, sans at least 5 full sets of moe.! FINAL LINEUP ANNOUNCED FOR MOE.DOWN 7:: Mike Gordon and Ramble Dove Page McConnell with Jon Fishman, Adam Zimmon, Jared Slomoff and Rob O'Dea Umphrey's Mcgee Ziggy Marley Banyan featuring Stephen Perkins Grace Potter and the Nocturnals The Avett Brothers U-Melt Moonshine Still Toubab Krewe Tim Easton Yolk Pat McClimans Group Before Cowboys Mike Rocklin Spaghetti Cake (Kids' Jamband) Whiskey Mae
