The Sydney Opera House Grand Organ is the world's largest mechanical tracker-action pipe organ. It is located in the concert hall of Sydney Opera House in Sydney, Australia,

Good evening group!  Just in from the Amtrak train from Philly to MA. and catching up with all the posts!

Paul, yes, that is the largest TRACKER organ for sure, but less then 1/3rd the size of the two organs in Atlantic City and Philadelphia.  Keep looking for the 64' pedal stop, and you'll be on to something BIG !  :emotion-21:

  2. Hello my friends!  Just finishing up the final day of a FULL week at an annual pipe organ convention and will be happy to be back listening to the gear with you all.

I must say, hearing the largest pipe organ IN THE WORLD in a space for 41,000 persons is an absolute eye AND EAR opener!!! An experience I will never forget, and meeting the fine crew that take care of restoration and maintenance of these fine, historical instruments was amazing.

We hit the train at 6:45am. (Friday morning) and begin the long journey back home.

    See you soon!

PS.  Paul, there are only two pipe organs in the world that can hit a low frequency of 8 Hz!, the one I just heard, AND you have one in YOUR 'neck' of the woods too!

  3. Thanks to 'Dirtmudd', I am spinning up, WAY UP on the UTurn 'Orbit Custom' TT.  IMG-2159.jpg

And what it looks like here in Longfellow Music Hall.......NEW speaker setting.  Martin Logan's are now at 14' center to center apart, the new Forte' 4's just to the inside, 30" from the front wall makes the most low end response in the listening space.  I will return Saturday 15th, and will be happy to spin more vinyl with you all.

I WILL have my laptop in the hotel room, so I can at least stop by and give some likes 🍷IMG-2160.jpg

  4. Good evening my friends.  Getting a last minute spin before heading off to a convention in Philly.   This was a very special gift that appeared at my door step TODAY!   Enjoying this right now as I type.

  5. I can add to these 'mishaps'.   First, I am safe, and UNhurt, NO heat involved.

We had strong and heavy rains here, my gutters were full of pine needles.  So, when there was a break in the rain storm, I got out my 6' ladder.  Had a metal hook and climbed the ladder to free one end of the gutters, GOOD, drained out the spout with a flood like force :biggrin2:.

Moved down the other end of the home (54' to the right), set up the ladder, checked the footing to be sure.  Climbed up, one step from the absolute top of the ladder, again, NOTHING to hold onto.

All good, reached up with the hook...............LEFT FRONT leg of the ladder decided to sink into the ground behind the shrubbery.  Ladder goes to the left, I go to the right, free falling from 6' and land straight on my back, legs tangled in the ladder, head bounced on ground too!!

I lay for a couple seconds there, upset at what happened, realized I was NOT HURT, took the ladder up, had to straighten the bent thing, climbed right back up and got the jog done!

At 70, feeling lucky, happy I did not break anything!  :biggrin2:  A week of scary things for us music lovers huh ??

Take care, be safe my friends!

My B-system, in the den upstairs, is the Harman/Kardon 430 twin powered, playing vinyl with a vintage Onkyo turntableCurrently driving Onkyo speakers, but usually Klipsch RP160Ms.

What I like about this combo is the 'electricity' that is in the air as soon as the needle hits the groove. This is so nostalgic... until the music starts playing, you hear the crackle and the static elektricity, but when the music starts, it all goes away and I enjoy the music. Love it!

I see I'm not the only one feeling kinda silly on this gray day Gary!

The "type" I meant was the "long throw" or the Long Xmax LF driver. Did not mean the same model ;)

Thanks John.  Eminence is made right here in the states if I remember.  Seems I have one in my Hammond organ 'Leslie' speaker which Hammond uses.  Let me see, I have a box with that name on it in my garage (storage).....Oh, here it is! :biggrin2:  (scroll down............)

Pal Simon's stuff, especially those with the African percussion... tell me they couldn't be used for testing new gear like Steely Dan's recordings!

@GWSmith you're going on about those Forte IV's like I was after I got my IIIs !

After hearing they have that long excursion woofer I know that helps. Played with Super Heresy for a bit, upgraded my v 1 to v 1.5 which was the same type of woofer... it could effortlessly thump & sounded good!

Hee, hee, if it isn't the K-281, then it can't be the same type or can it? :biggrin2: ...  It is the only one of it's kind used for the two authentic Klipsch Heritage models.

  11. Thank you George!  Currently, FIVE of us are listening to the OPENING NIGHT at Boston Symphony Hall LIVE stream from WCRB Boston!  Over in RTM we have Dave from CA. Mossy in WY.  Tim in IA. Pezz in RI, and myself here in MA. all in our own time zones but taking in the opening season concert live.  You could tune in as well.  Right now BACH piano concerto, but later Holzt 'Planets' at the conclusion.  Just a heads up.  The Willsenton and Forte' 4 sounding so rich tonight with this live stream!  :biggrin2:
