  1. One mounted..............three to go....
  2. The columns are installed, let the sconce mounting/wiring begin... []
  3. This photo shows the original sconce lamp on the right...........the NEWER design about to be installed on the left...
  4. Now, its time to go back to the column installation. But first, the NEW sconce lamps are unpacked...
  5. Brand new floor completed......Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay ! [<)]
  6. Another of the continued floorwork..
  7. The flooring contractor has just started laying down the first of the brand new flooring.. These are a high end beveled edge vinyl plank. They are waterproof. The adhesive being put down was $104 gal. and is an EPOXY which is also waterproof. Again, all precautions just in case... This stuff looks just like a real wood floor, and the rich red cherry was decided over a lighter oak... Perfect for the future room of 'darkness' []
  8. This picture shows the floor is cleaned and ready, with the only obsticle being the audio rack which we all elected to work around... Its a really nice one, and is all glass with piano black finish on the legs. Only ONE leg sucked in water and swelled up a bit, but, it is being put back into service...
  9. Photo shows the columns are now completed and waiting to be reinstalled... But first, the concrete floor needs to be totally cleaned and ready for the flooring contractor to install it...
  10. ...........meanwhile, walls in the theater get painted.......this was a color that was original to the room when we bought the house... I just kept it the same... All to be hidden anyway...
  11. Then, picked the best lookng from the bunch...
  12. What to do with all those screws showing on the front panels of the columns ? Cover them with MORE gold decorations [] I went to Home Depot and bought these small glass tiles.......... added the gold leaf paint....
  13. This photo shows the 'liquid leaf' gold being put on. This took a long time to get it just right, ie, a professional looking job... Took an evening to complete...
  14. Here, the columns have been drilled and screwed where they had split apart from the moisture. Two of them actually warped all the way to the top (8' up!), so, I did some body work to smooth out the split areas, and then put two coats of the faux stone finish in 'moss green' that you see here... I added teflon and brass feet to the base of them at the rear, so they will 'float' above the new floor to prepare for quick drying in case of another water event...
  15. Here is the paint that was chosen............this turned the columns into 'stone' []
  16. Meanwhile, its time to start the column 'makeover'..........here is the last look at the way they were...
  17. All the new drywall is installed...
  18. Begin the new drywall installation.... Interestingly enough, this drywall was LEFTOVER material from a brand new house across the street from us. We have become friends with the new neighbors and they offered the leftover material that was stored in their garage for our use........ It was enough to complete the two lower outside walls...
  19. []I ment to get this one to you BEFORE the insulation was re-installed. Here, you can see the foundation...... It was interesting to find that kids had been playing around BEFORE the house went up. We discovered a score board in yellow chalk with the kids names AND the date of February 1979!, when the house was built written on the the foundation walls.
  20. Meanwhile, the rebuild of the 'room' has begun with the installation of new insulation and a vapor barrier...
  21. Here in the former music room (also dismantled), are the storage of the theater columns....... They are antique white with gold accents, but a new change is about to unfold... Thanks to friends over on the 'Right This Minute' thread, a new color selection has been made... [Y]
  22. Here, the insulation is being removed... A messy job for sure!
  23. After all was cleared out, it was time to start taking the water soaked walls and insulation OUT...... Here, the contractor is at work...
  24. This photo shows the carpet removed, and now, while the neighboring room (keyboard suite) gets its moment, some things are now in storage here in what was the Longfellow Music and Movie House....
