Mark would be proud of you. My two cents on the "is the Merlin a match for the VRD's" the only thing that would best it at three times the $'s is an NBS.

Very nice, is that Mahogany on the sides ?
Not sure. Identical to my other one.

Hey
The multiple hours burn in were aimed at the original Bifrost and the Uber Bifrost, The new multibit is supposed to be 99% burned in at 4 hours use
Uber compared to Multibit, IMHO there is no Huge difference in SQ, My impressions are that the Multibit is smoother more analogish, with possibly better bass, some have said it is clearer
I will say Multibit will not be supplanting my Havana, The slight edge is more than I want to hear, my HD800 headphones are superbly revealing and if any offending traits are there I will hear them, as everyone is saying burn is is 4 hours, I think I have heard what I need to in order to make my decision on which stays
My last go round with DAC's kind of put me in the same spot, and though the slight edge is VERY SLIGHT I am not willing to give up my Havana a 2nd time
Thanks Joe, I got into my Bifrost second/third hand so I don't have big $'s in it. I too found it has a bit of an edge and if the Multibit would smooth that out I would consider it.

I'm looking forward to your review, I have the Ubered Bifrost. Most of what I have read about the bifrost in general, says multiple hours before settling in.

Congratulations to both

Todd, thanks for the compliment. Sounds like all has ended in your satisfaction. Enjoy the listening.

When I saw that this morning I thought, maybe I.... and then it was gone. All you need now is a sweet sweet case for it
-
Case work alone is worth at least $250
-
Beautiful job on the case work, really like your design.

They are spikes and just leave holes works great , i just push down on DAC and it makes its own holes
lol, as long as they are symmetrical.

" Dont worry I just set the DAC on the NBS for a picture it does not stay ontop covering the vents "
Hope there's a soft cloth under there ; )

Chuck, I'm looking forward to hearing your impressions of the Bi Frost. I'm considering the Gungir to go with my Mac Mini, this is my first attempt at going the digital route an I'm finding there's way too much out there to consider. What is your, or any ones, take on the quality of the USB 2.0 interconnect between the computer and the DAC. Some of the reading I've done says it makes a difference. Al, feel free to chime in here on your take. Paul79 has been a big help on setup.

I'm in, thanks for the effort.

Earl, glad to see you got the NBS as well, those three units belong together. I don't know about the kt 150's, but those driver tubes are killer, you're in for a treat.

Those Oscar Peterson's are a great set of recordings. Way to go.

I traded the K75 russian caps " the mean green's" out for the Jupiter coppers and found more clarity from top to bottom. Everything has a keener edge, I guess, well defined, might be a better way to put it. I listen to mostly jazz and vocals on vinyl and there was more than just a marginal improvement.
I'm with Paul on this one, for the $'s spent it was worth it.

I've worked with lots of solids and veneers, but never ebony.
