  1. "Maybe we could SWAP them Cigarettes for their products............They'll both KILL YOU.....Even Swap............"

I read China was the largest importer of cigarettes on the planet. But the number paled in comparison to their export of the 7.62x39 ammunition used in the SKS and AK47 assault rifles available to all "enemies of civilization" and decency towards humanity.

Walmart was just the big jump. Shop Chinese? Not if I can help it. I liked "old Sam".. Made in the USA

Want to end terrorism and communism? Just introduce the rogue powers that be to capitalism. "Money is mightier than the sword"

Communism is being defeated by the mighty buck. I see no reason terrorists can't be caught up in the monitary aspects of "civilization". It might work. I don't see a lot of progress through force and sacrifice of human life.

  2. I'd heard tons of info on the VRDs on this site. I was curious and for the last few months I'd considered buying. I even called Craig for specifics. It's just plain hard for me to spend $3,000 for amps without hearing and seeing them. Still I got close to the purchase.

I finally got a chance to hear them a few weeks ago. One helluva amplification system. Powerful, smooth, and mellow. Until you step on the gas. Kickin' amps.

Most superior sound? I'm not one to think you can compare equally. Everyone buys for specific needs or listening preferences.

Good enough sounding for the price? YES. No doubt about it. I get to listen to and own more expensive amps. Better or worse? No, just different. Well priced and worth the money.

Would I buy on reputation only? I'd have to say yes. I've heard nothing negative about his amps or his service. Personally I've heard he rubs some the wrong way. Hey, the guy got on my butt a couple of times on the forum. So what! When I talked to him or emailed for professional work or advice he has been a very Professional and pleasant businessman, informative, and helpful beyond expectation. Thanks, by the way.

I heard about them on the forum. I'd never known about them if it weren't for happy owners. All raves. Enough to take notice of. The only problem I've heard of is probably user related and not product related.

Best amps available for the money? I'm not sure. My impressions are: Helluva amplification system. A winner. Top notch. I could be happy with the VRDs if I didn't have what I have. It's all personal opinion anyway. Unless you get into specs. BS on the specs. Listen to them and Love them. Enough?

Shortcomings? No amplification system is perfect. I didn't notice any shortcomings. I just heard the VRDs. I like them. I'll eventually own them. Can't have enough good power around. Priced fairly for sure.

My 2 cents worth. Nothing more.

  3. "I am at 8 pairs of Klipsch , down from 9. I sold a pair of black KG4's. I like the look of wood grain better. I don't think I'm done yet. Still have the Lascalla's, Belle's, Klipschorn's, and now damn it, the Jub's to get."

It's a good thing the Jubs were black. Bunch of potential there. A nice deep rich grained wood veneer might have put a dent in the "Rainy Day" jar.

For me, "There's no substitution for Cubic Inches. bigger is better with Klipsch". I have or have had most besides the Jubs. Of course equipment matching is just one aspect and everyone has different wants from their speakers. I look at the sound as a personal want or passion. I'm not good in putting it on paper. I tend to trust my ears and feelings on what I like or don't. That's what listening is about to me. How I perceive the sound and a bunch of the fun is matching it all up. To me the numbers put out are ideal for marketing purposes. If a salesperson can say it, it must be true? Granted for R&D they're a must. For my purchasing or listening, well that's a different tune.

  4. Morning Boys,

I think Arf May be commenting and/or acting about the circumstances from less than a month ago. The fellow I made the comments about pulled some more stuff with me. It is not the first time. I just happened to tell Arf about it less than 15 minutes after it happened. Hey, maybe the guy is a good guy to most. Maybe he just thinks I'm at the bottom of the food chain. I don't know. SS hasn't dealt with me in a proper manner. I ended up putting him on my blocked bidders list on Ebay. I'm commenting ONLY about his dealings with me. My experiences with the guy.

I'm pretty sure this is what is being referred to by Arf. My thanks for my friends both standing up for me and telling me I may be out of line.

I respect my friends and trust what they have to say.

Let's go fishing or something. I'll buy the beer

  5. I kinda live by the Unofficial "John Waynes' Rules to live by" theory.

I guess I'm going nowhere fast then. I'm happy where I'm at. I can look at the "old whiteheaded fart" in the mirror and not be ashamed of who I am.

I'm not looking over my shoulder in fear, and still believe everything you do in this life comes back to you. I believe what you do in life is "Tallied up at the end of the trail". I've got enough crap to try to explain at them "Pearly Gates" without adding in a bunch more stuff.

We may live in an impersonal world through our IPs but you still have to have a personal "Honor Code" to live by. If not, then what kind of person are you?

My mama tried to raise me right. She did ok in my book.

  6. That's not what I'm talking about. I'm ok with disclosure. The "hidden" or behind the scenes actions are what I had a problem with. I'm stickin' to my guns Old Buddy.

(edit) I don't mess around with married women, kick another man's dog, and I won't backstab a friend.

    I consider forum members friends.

  7. "the below listing pops up on graiglist quite a bit...there is also a website...I am sure he's hooked a few"

I think He's a forum member. When I offered a K-55V driver to a fellow forum member that needed one this guy tried to buy it out from under him.

He also lowball offers on ebay all the time. Too cheap for me. I will NOT sell anything to him. I do not like the way he does things. If he is a member he should use some etiquette and have consideration for others. Greedy, selfish, and cheap are the exact words I will use for him. He's contacted me a few times this year. NO SALE PAL.

  8. Very Nice!

I loved the Forte IIs. I just had a problem with only 1 corner in the room. One side had all the bass reflection and the other didn't. My room doesn't lend much leeway in placement. Otherwise I could have been extremely happy with them. I'm very picky about equal output from my speakers. My small room shows problems immediately. I recommend the Forte IIs highly for anyone. Did anyone say "false corner"?

  9. "any ideas where they would sound best?"

    My house!!

Corners were a problem for me. I only had the option of one corner. I've got a very "unbalanced" room. I actually traded my Forte II to Colter for a pair of Cornwalls because of my corner limitations. Loved the sound of the speakers. I had the 1s, traded them for the 2s hoping they might work out. No go. Forward firing only in the "cracker box". The Cornwalls are too big for my room and I had to "build to suit tennant"

    Harry

  10. "The original Fortes ARE better in my opinion...I wouldnt pass up either but my dad has the II's and I think the bass is a little rounder and less punchy, does that make sense?"

Somewhat. The rear passives are placement critical. The 2s to me were a bit smoother and larger sounding but only after placing both the 1 and 2 in the same area could I tell a lot of difference. The 1s did sound a bit tighter to me but both have a place in my stable also.

  11. Killer score on the CWs. Ya can't pass up a good garage sale. Last year alone my mom found me a pair of MC275s for $60 and 4 JBL Century 100s for $25 and a pair of very nice Altec Valencias for $10. She is retired and garage sales from thursday daylight to saturday afternoon. It's her thing. She's gotten pretty knowledgeable on audio lately. She burns up my cell phone on weekends. Naturally I get a lot of calls on Pioneer 4.1's for $50 which I immediately turn down and a lot of stuff like that but she's getting much better. She gets a stack of local papers and plans out her "route". She loves it. We are originally from Tennessee and last month there was an 80 mile long garage sale on a stretch of highway around where we are from. She filled up her car with all kinds of treasures.

  12. "I don't think it is possible Harry"

I may not be the brightest bulb in the pack but i can't see how a "1 size fits all solution" could properly apply in every application just using a simple room size calculator.

I loved the "skyline" ceiling treatments and I'd like to have one just to look at if nothing else. Hey, It might work. I wasn't impressed with some of the "improvements" acheived but the crap looks cool if nothing else. LOL!

    Thanks.

  13. "Scarecrow: I haven't got a brain... only straw.
Dorothy: How can you talk if you haven't got a brain?
Scarecrow: I don't know... But some people without brains do an awful lot of talking... don't they"
I like this a lot! hb

I guess I overstepped my education here by a quite a bit.

My question is, "Can they supply me with a Proper Kit based solely upon general input on their site calculator that will fit my room/audio needs?"

Your patience please and remember I am very simple.

  14. I know I'm the FNG here on sound treatment but it would seem to me a "standard formula/calculation" being used leaves much to be desired. How do they know what I'm using and what my EXACT needs are. It seems pretty mathmetically unsound using their calculator with so many vairables involved.I'm sure their calculator can specifically sell me universal kits X how many to = profit vs room size only.

Like I said, I'm the FNG but my equipment issues and my room have specific needs. Can their formulas meet these needs?

I'll leave the numbers to you smart educated types and do the trial and error thingy until my ears say "OK" to me. I have to question formulas based on insufficient data at this point.

  15. "This is probably a who cares, but Im pressing on with this little project"

Very nice work! Functional and pleasing to the eye. Good luck in getting your acoustics tuned up.

I'm behind times in tuning up my listening area. After listening to the room treatments at the Pilgrimage I'm actually more confused than before. I didn't understand some of the treatments done at the Klipsch facilities but If their intention was to prove the treatments can make a difference in the sound they succeeded. I've been playing with foams since sunday after the Klipsch shindig. I've made major gains keeping down reflection in my lousy listening area. Fortunately it is a small area and just minor treatment so far has made major "improvements" or better yet, "differences". From what I've found out so far with my hands on approach it like anything else in the audio world it's going to be personal preference and compromise. Just getting a late start on room treatments so my comments shouldn't get much notice. But I've found out for certain they do make major differences.

I'm looking forward to your results when your great looking project is completed. Comments and pics please upon completion.

    Good post and good timing.
