  1. Ovation close to my place here in Indy had some overstock and demo's early last week from a store they closed up. I think they were clearing out 2 of them. They treat me great and I'll check today for you when I make my daily rounds.

  2. OB,

Understand that! I remember always keeping an "Eye open" for a working fridge for the garage for storage on the tall brown bottles. I never thought about storing tapes that way. But then again, the fridge was always short on food and long on "necker storage" Even cut a few holes in the door for "KEGGER" access.

Thanks for the tip, but I'll hold off on this one until it is confirmed. I can't imagine losing a couple of shelfs of beer storage just for my tapes at this point.!!!

  3. I just picked up a Sheng Ya/Vincent CD HDCD player and I've been swapping out tubes trying to get the max sound. Anyone been playing with this set up got any tried and true suggestions? Right now I'm running Amperex Bugle Boy 12AX7 ECC83 and a Gold pin Siemens 6922 6DJ8. This thing sounds great and the front window tube glow is a nice cool feature. I'm just looking for "More" from my tubes. I'm short on the 6922 6DJ8 stock and wouldn't like to keep adding to my personal collection of unused "back up" tubes.

    Thanks,

  4. Michael,

I guess the ref counted you down and out prematurely. Miss K called around 11:00 last night and wondered it we were going to try for this evening on the tube auditions. I guess she's retracted the claws and is still wanting to say hi. YOU lucky dog! Must be living under a lucky star this month. She saw your "Glamour Shot" and still wants to meet.

  5. Love the sound of the tape. Question is, How do I properly store my tape to keep it from going bad. I still have a good collection of tape from the 60's and early 70's. Most has been played but I still have quite a few sealed up. I've always kept them away from my speakers, upright, dry, and handled the boxes carefully. What else can I do. I was the only one of my small circle of audio friends with reel to reel. I sold my last deck a few months ago and I've missed not having it around. It got little use, but it was always a "Part of the Family" so to speak. The system just seems naked without it now.

  6. Hey, I just love audio. I love what I run, I love listening to others systems and layout. I love meeting the coolest people from the Klipsch world. It's an open offer forum guys and gals. You can come by here, or if you want to hear your stuff in a different light I'd be glad to come over, warm 'em up and say "Hello" at the same time.

  7. Yep!! Kinda hard getting things going in the right direction for CP1. Talk about the kitty shootin' out the claws. So much for that. Maybe some other day. Or NOT. Round 3 is over. Unanimous decision. KO'd

    Woof! Woof!

    Happy Easter all.

  8. Thebes,

Scribe on. Freedom in thought. Portrayal, concentration even if only for the moment.

As a child of the 60's, my concentration dumped by the wayside from better living through chemistry, I can catch a fleeting glimpse of your thoughts from time to time. You put it eloquently. Keep up the vigil noble sentry. You may not be alone. Then again you may.

  9. Michael,

It will take me about an hour to pull everything down, load it for the trip across town and pull into your drive. I just left a message for K to call me. I'm free saturday afternoon or monday evening. Let me know.

  10. Dangit Arf !!

I am shocked no one local invited you to listen to tubes in your general area. Shame on ya all. Must be ashamed of your systems. Just seemed to be arguments/discussions as usual.

Come on down Arf, we're friendly here in Indy!!

  11. Michael,

I'll bring over 3 tube units if you wish. I'll bring a 14 watt per integrated, 30 watt per EL34 newer amp, or a pair of 75watt per monoblocks. I'll bring over a couple of preamps also. Your call buddy. You can judge for yourself. Give me a call

  12. Woof! Woof!

Come on down Arf. I'll duplicate what you're running now and throw some tubes at the same system. I love what ya got now. I'll show what you can do for just a couple of pesos to rock your world through hot glass.

I've been running both for years and sadly I was under the assumption of high maintenance tubes. I can't go back to solid state now. It's almost as good as an orgy with triplets. It will spoil you.

  13. One of my closest friends here in Indy is as bad as I am about audio. He is married and his wife has made him downsize considerable to home theater only in the last year. He calls me all the time from garage sales and flea markets letting me know about gear available. He's running a Bose HT and big Denon digital. A couple of months ago he offered me his Nissan truck. My old work van has seen better days and he knew I needed another work vehicle. He priced it to me at a very low price and I told him yes on the deal. About 10 minutes later I fired up a Mc275 through my Cornwalls and the deal was off. He had to have the Cornwalls. We did the trade and he had me hold the speakers for about a week until he figured his wife would be cool with more audio equipment. We set up the Cornwalls as fronts and when his wife got home the sh.. hit the fan. Her comment was "what do you want those ugly things for?" I had the remote for the Denon and fired the Cornwalls up. Speechless for about 15 minutes her next comment was "I see why you want those". Last week His wife bought a pair of my Heresys for the rears. She now is the Klipschaholic of the family. Amazing what a good pair of horns can do to a music lover. Wait until I hit her with tubes!
