  1. I just got a pair of RF-62's with a RW-12D subwoofer. Am using them as a stereo only setup with a Harman Kardon HK3485 Stereo Receiver. I read a great post by Dr Who to another member about setting up Subwoofer's, however in his article, it was based on a surround setup and being able to set the crossover on the receiver. I am using stereo only and don't have any crossover adjustments on this receiver, so I am wondering how I should set the lowpass (crossover) on the Sub, its range is 40hz to 120khz, and my RF-62's range is 38hz to 23khz. <> Thank You <>Tomp
  2. Wuzzzer <> Thanks for the explination, that makes sense. I have been using Monster cable for my speakers and when I demo,ed these at the store I noticed they had all thier speakers wired with the heavyest wire I had ever seen. I inquired and it turned out to be Monster XPHP-Cl so naturally I just had to have a roll of that ($129.00 per 100ft!) but what the hell I just bought some great speakers so why chinch on the wire! So I think I will forget the bi-wiring for now. <>Thanks again for the information <>Tomp <>
  3. Got my RF-62's today and in reading the owners manual it states some models are equipped with two pair of connection terminals for bi-wire hook up. These have them and I see by the diagram how they would be hooked to the speaker, but what is the purpose of this and how do you hook up to the receiver with two sets of wires? My receiver (Harman Karden HK3485 won't be here until friday so I don't know what its manual says about bi-wiring. <> Tomp
  4. I''m fairly new to the use of subwoofers, am about to purchase a RW-12D and was wondering what are the High Level Speaker Binding Posts on the rear used for? <> Tomp
  5. Thanks for the quick reply. You have certainly given me something to think about. Trouble is the more I think about speakers the more the price tag goes up! but like everything else I guess you get what you pay for. <> One concern is the receiver I already ordered is 120 watt per channel and the larger speakers are 175 and 250. I don't know much about this but wouldn't that receiver be too small for the RF63 or RF83? <> My room is not very large 11'x 13' and as I have said I am considering the RF62 pr possibly moving up to the RF82. These are about all my budget can stand right now because I do want the subwoofer now to go with the speakers, I have gotten spoiled by the iFi sub I have. By the way would that Receiver the HK3485 drive the 150 watt RF82's ok. My music preferance is good Jazz, mostly 50's, 60's Jazz and some Vintage Rock, some light classical, I am building up quite a collection of remastered SACD's from Chesky and Analogue Productions, Acoustic Sounds which have great sound. I am 66 yrs old and can't find much modern music that sounds good to me! <> <>Tomp
  6. Hi I am about to pull the trigger on a pair of RF-62's with a RW-12D Sub, for 2 channel use with a Haran Kardon HK 3485 receiver and Sony SCD-CE595 SACD player. I am now playing the Sony through an iFi and it sounds great to me with SACD's, but I don't have any experience with good or high end systems. Could anyone who has these speakers and sub tell me what you think about them. Thanks Tomp
  7. Thanks for the reply, on the base I understand what you are saying, I am going to be using a RW 10D subwoofer with my speakers, do you think that will make up for some of the base loss? <> Tomp
  8. I am about to buy two RF 62 speakers which are rated for 100 watt, and am shopping for a stereo receiver. I am looking at a Harman Kardon HK 3485 receiver which is rated at 120 watts per channel. I am new to receivers and want to know is it alright to run 100 watt speakers from a 120 watt receiver or should you try to match the receiver wattage to the receiver? Would apprieciate any help on this, I found a good buy on the receiver but don't want to order until I know it is ok to use with these speakers. Tomp <>
  9. Colin <> Thank you and all the others for the information. As I mentioned I am coming from serious headphone listing with audiophile quality headphones and amplifiers and these definately do require a minimum of 40 hrs burn in to reach maximum sound quality. It may be that headphones are such and intense listening experience that it is easier to hear the slightest variation in sound quality. Thanks again to everyone for the imput.
  10. I am new to speakers coming from headphone listening. I have two sets of iFi's which have RSX3 speakers. My question is do these speakers require Burn-in like headphones do and if so any idea how long for ultimate sound quality? <> Thank You <>
