  1. Just got the Rolling Stones, a Bigger Bang, 4 DVD concert package..........$29.99 at Best Buy, only place you can buy it.......$7.50 a disc, can't buy a CD for that.............Four Old Buggers, rolled on to the stage in wheel chairs, oxygen masks on, IV's into their bodies to keep them going......40+ years of these old worn-out Rock has beens.............The Austin, Texas show........just awful, dual lead guitars, terrible song selection,"Bob Willis is still King" a Waylon Jennings song. How awful, the poor audience had to stand and dance to keep from falling asleep.......Yup, old farts trying to Rock and Roll, some nerve huh ? This is a sad story of a little BAR BAND that played the Blues, well maybe, "Ain't too proud to beg" by the Temptations, is that a blues song? Rose to the top of the heap, and still continues to milk the public, playing those old tired songs, you know, "Jumping Jack Flash", and oh yeah, that dreadful song from my youth, "Satisfaction". Pretty good for a little band like that, that no one wants to see anymore.....Before I go, remember, "It's Only Rock and Roll"........and I LIKE IT................ALOT....The Greatest Rock and Roll Band in the World..........[:D]......So, now let's hear how bad they are...............Jump on me Boys......

    You tell 'em old.

And if they want more........... http://forums.klipsch.com/forums/thread/928274.aspx

  2. Just out. I think exclusively at Best Buy.

    The Biggest Bang.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

It is great. Over 7 ½ hours on 4 DVD Audio discs. Has over 4 hours of music including some new songs never released before. Also has the 2006 Super Bowl performance on it. Has Dolby 5.1 and DTS Surround sound.

The boys are in top form. This may trump the Four Flicks DVDs from a few years ago.

And get this...................................all of this for under $30 at Best Buy right now.!!!!

    Get it or be square.!!!!

    Rolling Stones Forever.!!!!!

The Rolling Stones are the Greatest Rock 'n Roll Band in the world.!!!!

  3. Be careful. There is a lot of variety in the JLL product.

Originally there was a CD last Fall with about 22 songs done, I believe in a studio. Now Jerry has released a DVD and a DVD & CD combo called "Last Man Standing Live".

The CD with the DVD has 8 additional songs not on the DVD nor the original CD. I love JLL. He is one of the original greatest.

  4. I'm really glad your second sub worked out well. Moreso because the numbers weren't looking good... [:o]

Just outta curiousity - how do things sound with only the second sub on?

DrWho I don't understand your question. Wouldn't playing only the second sub be a lot like when I only had one sub? Since the two subs are identical wouldn't I have already experienced the sound of only one sub? Was there some other meaning to your question?

    PLACEMENT

The second one may be in a more "optimal" spot.

Well EAR, did I mention 130 pounds? I am a 60 year old with a bad back. I know that placement is important but basically they are sitting where they were first placed.

Did I mention heavy? Yes, I will experiment with different locations just as soon as I finish my weight lifting course so that I can budge these heavy subs.

I've said it before. Lifting and moving an f-113 is a lot like lifting and moving a Sumo wrestler.

  5. Better. (obviously, or I would have changed it!). It produces a fuller sound, probably because of two woofers.

    DRBILL

Do you have any way to measure the frequency sound levels of one vs. two? I'm interested in whether you are experiencing any frequency cancellation with the two speakers side-by-side. Some say that it is not a good idea to use two of a speaker model for the center channel. Just wondering.

  6. Some day, I'll talk my parents into letting me take up a whole room with these...or maybe I can talk them into letting me use the living room. Oh well...I'm completely fine with my stuff how it is now, just because these blow my old computer speakers out of the water.

What you need to do is just set everything up in the living room while the parents are asleep or outta the house. At least it worked when I was still living at home. [;)]

.....and put some soothing music on when your parents return home. Offer them a drink and a comfortable seat. Offer to do the dishes for them. They will come around.

  7. true wood does color the sound and can change from bin to bin due to moisture, grain characteristics, age, etc.... The best violins made by Stradivarus was ages maple that he made sure to age and have a certain moisture content. Even the adhesive was proprietary to him. But with solid wood comes a unique characteristic from each tree to tree. Its alot easier due to a violing being from one tree yet a speaker would be much more than one tree and tuning it would be harder due to each tree having its own grain pattern and characteristics a nightmare...... MDF and plywood gives good consistant properties. That is why there is no solid wood speaker, just veneer.

MDF is inexpensive, very dense (the denser the better) but it does not like screws (blowouts) and is rather hard on tools (the glue)

Plywood is expensive if you get the baltic birch or the void free stuff. Also the amount of ply changes the price considerably. 13 ply is alot more than 9 ply, but the more ply the stronger due to the nature of the laying out of plywood. Plywood is layered in a weave pattern with the grain switched 90 degrees to give it alot of strength. At the same time some void free high number plywood is almost as expensive as real wood planks of comparable size. It does not blow out as mdf and is more durable but actually less dense than mdf.

cement would be an idea material but due to weight it also makes most commercial sellability impossible. The best for sound does not do well for selling.

Metals like aluminum are nice, they are as dense as cement and make for an interesting statement speaker but for the cost and adjusted cost of the cool factor, it is not viable for most people unless you like to throw money away or are well to do.

ABS plastic is not bad at all but it needs sufficent bracing as it flexes like crazy. Though the acoustic properties are nice, hence you see alot of smaller speakers made out of abs plastic (cough bose and everyone who follows)

    I want cement speakers.

  8. solid wood is expensive and a little more challenging to work with (joining, planing, etc), hardwoods may provide better sound results.

MDF is inexpensive, good sound character, does not like moisture, joiints are a little more challenging than regular grain woods.

plywood is avail in varying cost and grades, good sound character, easy to work with, edgebonds well

cenment is hard to work with (need formers), the best sound character, costs as much as any of the above.

Fritz is right about all of the above. The nice thing about solid wood is that you have the ability to shape it ways that you can't do with plywood or veneered MDF such as rounded over edges. Other problems with plywood is the expense of void free material. I know from experience that regular hardwood veneer plywood from your local Home Depot or Lowes is not going to be void free or as dense as MDF. I have read that although musical insterments are made from hardwood speakers should not be because the wood colors the sound. I just built a pair of single driver speakers using solid hardwood though and they sound great.

Sounds like a draw between MDF & solid wood as to sound quality.

Well then I want the cement speakers.

  11. Roc that is right after you get dual f112's and pile then on each f113. That is why I need just another f112.... LOL

Yeah now you can hear and feel why I have...many...the power corrupts...the massiv headroom is damn real !

    True power is in numbers

Every so often in life we need to say "Enough".

The two f-113s have ended my search for the perfect bass. I am bass-satisfied..............................................................................................................for now.

  12. Roc, how do you have them set up? Are they co-located?

I have them on the main wall. One each next to my main speakers slightly away from the corners.

All I did was place them in position, run the room equalization program, and play them. No other adjustments were made.

The result of adding the second sub was:

    1. Non-localization of the sound

    2. A smoothing of the low frequencies

    3. Louder and stronger bass

I haven't tinkered yet with phase or polarity or crossover points or different locations in the room. Apparently the sound will only improve as I tinker.

  13. A small correction Roc...

260 lbs and 5000 WATTS you have two...so have I plus many others....[:D]

Dual 13.5" super woofers....you have a Gotham cut in two. [:D]

I wonder what happens if you lie on the floor and place a sub up against each ear and play music? Would you ever actually get up off of the floor?

  14. The possibility of someone "stealing" the Saints has long loomed over our heads, even more so after Katrina. We have had many discussions about that very topic and the bottom line is, we support the team, no matter what city or state they move to.

BTW, I was trying to be nice....so I'll try again, I am glad you are feeling better, no need to cry forever over spilled milk!

And...my name is Christy, not Chrissy![:P]

Thank you Christy. I apologize for the mis-spelling.

  15. Bad news on the Indy front.

My son has camp in Hot Springs Ark next week, am taking him up there this weekend.

Irony of all ironies. we will be driving right thru Hope on Fri or Sat. Would have been a good time for the Pilgrimage to have been in Hope...

Once again, the kids are more important. He would have been terribly dissapointed had I missed taking him up to camp. Same camp I went to as a kid and a counselor, now he goes there.

    Paul

Gee, you think maybe Paul is a Baltimore Colts fan?
