  1. To "The Ear", before it is too late: Do you have ears left or have they vibrated off by now? Are you a professional reviewer or is this whole thing only about "bragging rights"? Of course you would have a db meter to measure it all.....of course. There is such a concept as "toooo much of a good thing".........ever heard of it? "If a woman can have a baby in nine months then can nine women have a baby in one month"? ........ I don't think so. You know.......there are sounds in this world above 100Hz. Try it out, you might like it. .......BTW, what do you do when the phone rings? Take care now. TheEAR, I hope that you understood that I was joking with you on the above comments. I definitely was not trying to be nasty or rude. If you took it that way, then I apologize to you, sincerely.
  2. I passed on a copy of this one for $5 yesterday. The cover was in good shape but the vinyl was too scratched up for my taste. Is it worth anything anyway? Anyone? I will find out on June 16 when I attend the Antiques Roadshow in Baltimore.
  3. I can never reveal my sources. If I did however, then YOUR audio fund would be depleted as well! Both my copies of Some Girls are original. Both covers are nice but one of the LPs has some scratches. You can have it Joe. PM me your address. garymd you are just too nice of a person. How kind of you to surprise joessportster that way.
  4. I think it's Captian Beefheart that gary is referring to.
  5. The Lucy cover is worth having as a conversation piece.
  6. You know, this is a sad state of affairs. In my earlier days, before CDs, I actually had my record albums listed in my will. That's how much I valued them. Now I am staring at about 1,100 record albums in pristine condition and wondering if I should sell them for practically nothing or let the executor of my estate handle the chore. What a sad state of affairs. Sad, Sad, Sad. I want the 60s back. I want my youth back. I liked it better than the present. Oh well, why complain?
  7. Did someone ask the question: "What is the Stones best album?", and I missed it?
  8. CP1, I thought you would be all over this. The original cover has famous people on it and they forced them to change it. Hey rplace, are you interested in selling your Forte IIs? Please advise.
  9. CP1, I thought you would be all over this. The original cover has famous people on it and they forced them to change it. Michael had to know this. I guess he was just having a "senior" moment.
  10. I have two of those LPs. Even on orange vinyl. They are not woth that much. Collectable, but not crazy expensive. I'll sell you one of mine for $50[][6] I've got tickets to the June 16 Antiques Roadshow in Baltimore so I will be bringing what I think are my rare records. Records like: 1. Some Girls with Lucy on it (Stones) 2. Their Satanic Majesties Request with a trick flicker cover (Stones) 3. Sticky Fingers with a real working zipper on the front (Stones) 4. Love Gun with a real working paper gun that snaps (Kiss)
  11. Michael, I might be SICK, but at least Janet dresses up like a nurse when I want her to.
  12. But EAR, you do know that, for some subjects, size really does matter? Don't you?
  13. Space can be a real issue. Really good compact subs can be hard to come by. Size is volume. I hate science. I can never get around it. There is a three sided triangle theory on this which Dr.Who can give you an article to read about it.
  14. Coytee: You have freaking RUINED it... You need to send it to me right now for a total check out. (your expense of course) When I'm done (about 10 years later) I'll get it back to you with my official opinion as to the damage you caused!! As your punishment, you can now go listen to 20 minutes of either Disco OR, Marie Osmond singing Paper Roses! I will take my punishment like a man. What is your address so that I can send the unit to the right place? BTW, I don't think the warranty is transferable. Can you use an MC207 in your system? I have a feeling that after 10 years you will ask to keep it another 10 years, just to make sure of the damage. All because of a lousy towel. What I said.
  15. Are you sure after reading your posts she would still be willing to "help you get whatever you want". Geez, Roc...you are making her sound really cheap...you can get a pair of Forte II's for $500.00 or less....oh, you meant like....trade for one night.....I see....I'll talk to dtel and get back with you.[] The value of this proposed trade is not based on the cost of Forte II speakers, but rather on the rarity of finding the exact speakers that I am seeking. My wife is certainly worth way more than $500. Now finding Forte IIs, in mint condition, in oiled walnut, within 200 miles of Baltimore, Maryland, now that's priceless.!!!

Geez, Roc...you are making her sound really cheap...you can get a pair of Forte II's for $500.00 or less....oh, you meant like....trade for one night.....I see....I'll talk to dtel and get back with you.[] Does dtel have a strong heart and really good physical stamina, 'cause he will need it?

Hey, maybe a double trade is in order. Maybe we can meet in the middle or something.
  18. Now for aesthetic reasons, you have a good point, but not for functionality.
  19. Very good advice Michael. Thank you. BTW, Michael, Sunday I am going to buy those two black Forte IIs in VA. My plan is to have them veneered with oiled walnut veneer. They are only twelve years old, purchased by the current owner toward the end of the production run, so they are not really that old. Wish me luck.
  20. Esoteric Cables do not add very much if anything to the sound. They do relieve you of more cash than other less expensive choices. Wire guage is important to be properly matched to the wire length. I'm sure that there are also some shoddy and unacceptable wires and cables out there too. Why don't you try some cables from: http://www.bluejeanscable.com/ and compare the results to the more expensive ones. If you really can't hear a difference, then, for you, there is no difference. Just a thought.
  21. I am so glad that you said this. I am in the middle of acquiring a total of seven, count them, seven, Forte IIs for a 7.1 system. Right now I have four Forte IIs and two KG-4s. I am picking up two more Forte IIs this Sunday in VA. I like all kinds of music, but definitely "Hard Rock" is the majority of what I listen to. I've had Forte IIs for over 17 years and I always felt that they were excellent at reproducing hard rock music. But, of course, everyone has a different opinion so I guess no one is right or wrong, unless they are saying that BOSE makes good speakers.
