This set of speakers is a perfect match to the two I already have. A perfect fit. The other forum suggestions are very good and they are helping me Psychologically. You have to realize that I have been living with forte IIs for 17 years now and I still like them a whole lot. Maybe what you don't know doesn't hurt you. All I know is that I have never wanted another speaker of any kind since I began listening to the forte IIs. If I really strike out then I may have to consider the other models referenced here. When you find something that works, stick with it. I know that they are old but so am I so we will be comfortable together, I guess. ..........any way it sure looks like I will be getting the "stunning" forte IIs located North of Boston, real soon. That makes 4 down and 3 to go.!!! Where you gonna stop on the GWB? I used to go to NYC every year. Ex gf was from the Bronx, if you crossed the GWB and Billy Joel's 'New York State of Mind' came on the radio, it was magic. I recorded a CD with a bunch of NYC tunes including John Lennon and we cried every time we entered the city. It's a beautiful place. Glad your search is so fruitful Roc! Don't worry, I will be taking plenty of pictures. This is only my first set. I still need four more forte IIs to get to 7.1. Maybe for the next set, I can meet someone over the Grand Canyon and make the exchange in helicopters!!

I know that I am getting these because I put in such a high bid that no one is going to be willing to pay more than me for them. Check it out and you will see that I (rrinaldi1111) am the current high bidder. The original owner bought them in 1994, had them a year or so, and then unfortunately he died. His wife stored the speakers until last June. She then contacted Cape Ann's and sold them. The Cape Ann owner put them in his apt. since then. They are rather large and so for space considerations they are being sold now. Cape Ann is willing to meet me at the George Washington Bridge in NY, which is half of the trip. I will only have to travel about 4 hours to get them. ...............................It's been said before..................all things come to those who wait.

Mike, you are unbelievably helpful. I want you to know how much I apprecaite your effort. It makes me feel good. Even with the previous instruction before yours I was still unable to find "start" so to speak. It doesn't seem very intuitive to me. I'll try it and I guess you will see it in action.

Due to differences in furnishings, listening positions, wall materials, doors, etc.... there really is going to be no way to determine the ideal location - which is probably why everyone says something different. Compound that by the fact that everyone listens to different music with different mains at different SPL's and the differences only become greater. If you're looking for a few steps to follow, I would start by positioning the mains where they image their best. Then I would start by positioning the subwoofer as close to the corner as possible. If things sound boomy, then you'll want to pull the subwoofer out of the corner, but keeping it against the front wall as much as possible until the boominess goes away. Just keep in mind that most of the change in boominess has to do with changing the modal distribution in the room - not the boundary gain associated with the corner (which in fact is rarely percieved as negative). Don't forget to dial in the sub again everytime you move it around. I put together an article on dialing in by ear since the topic comes up so frequently: Dial in a Sub by Ear Thanks Mike. Soon, I hope so so soon, I will be able to fire up the JL Audio f113 and hear how it sounds. I am seriously considering adding a second f113 but I have promised myself to show some restraint and at least wait until I can hear the first one play. If I wind up with two, then I am considering placing them on the side walls facing each other. I really have serious room constraints so placement options are extremely limited for me. Either side walls or front and rear walls for sub placement. Just think I could brag "I have two f113s in my subwoofer air force.!" The final payoff for this long journey is that there will be pictures posted to the forum when I finish this project.

I sure hope that you are correct. You may already know that I just bought a f113. (sounds like a jet fighter plane doesn't it?) Now if I can just get my new A/V controller shipped then I could actually listen to the f113 and not look at it. What a predicament!!

Well I'm not quite as attached to my records although I always thought I would be. Would you like to buy about 1000 of them? 60's, 70's & 80's. All of these records are in mint condition. No one but myself has even touched them. No scratches or fingerprints. Some very rare albums like 1. Stones "Sticky Fingers" with a real working zipper 2. Stones "Some Girls" with a real picture of Lucy 3. Beatles original "Sgt. Peppers" 4. Kiss "Love Gun" with a working paper love gun 5. Stones "Their Satanic Majesties Request" with a 3-D trick cover 6. Many British and European releases 7. Many obscure bands from the 60s 8. Many albums by the Doors, Stones, AC/DC, Aerosmith, Animals, Kinks, etc. ..........................and they're all for sale at really fair prices.

...I dunno. Look here is where I am. I've got a 7.1 amp & A/V controller shipping to me this week so my main power is covered. However, I only have four speakers. This doesn't seem to add up does it? I have two mint forte IIs and two mint KG-4s. I have been doing listening tests on these four speakers for over 15 years now and I kinda like their sound a lot. It's just me I guess. So, I figure, I'll add three more forte IIs and that ads up to seven speakers which fits nicely with a 7.1 amp. The problem is that Klipsch doesn't seem to be selling any forte IIs right now. So I am stuck trying to find USED forte IIs in mint condition. Guess what, they aren't that easy to find. You mentioned chorus IIs. Isn't it safest, particularly for music listening, to configure seven of the exact same speakers for matching purposes? Especially if you like the sound of the speaker. Isn't it best to exclusively use floor standing models to best fill up the room with accurate sound? ...I dunno. I used to be a stereo nut now, I guess, I'm becoming a 7.1 nut by converting my stereo system over. I was happy with stereo, but we all must move on from time to time and I am committed to the 7.1 now. If only I could find enough forte IIs to add up to seven.
