  1. I need to put my powered sub about 10 feet from the amp and the power cord isn't long enough to reach the receiver. There is an outlet nearby that I could leave it plugged into, but I don't want to damage/overheat/waste electricity by leaving it plugged in all the time. Do they use juice when they are not activated? Does it hurt them to leave them plugged in all day and night? I can extend the power cord to go into the crawlspace and get to the amp if I have to, but that seems like work to me.... Opinions? By the way, if you've seen my other posts, the KSF-S5's cleaned up beautifully! Now I just need to figure out which paint to use on my new (to me) KG 5.2's. Thanks to all who have knowledge to share, Andy
  2. I have had the best luck using my entire house as an antenna. Just attach the FM antenna to the ground on an electrical outlet (the center screw holding the faceplate on) and viola! excellent reception. Option B is to use your Cable if you have cable, but that didn't work as good for me. My denon receiver came with a FM antenna that was just a wire with a coax connection on one end (receiver) and a small loop on the other. The loop is so small the screw barely fit through the hole. I can only assume this is what this antenna is for. The best reception I was able to get was either me holding the end of the wire (not very practical for me) or attaching it to an outlet. So far my house hasn't burned down. Andy Denon AVR 2106 Lots of Klipsch speakers. (profile/Signature in the works...)
  3. My amp is giving me an option for speaker Crossover Freq. It is either 80, 60, or 40Hz. I have some old KG 4's hooked up right now. Soon I'll be hooking up my new (to me) KG 5.2's, and KSF-S5's. Any difference? What does this option mean? What is the correct setting? I tried all three options and couldn't tell a difference in sound. Andy
  4. I have been in email contact with them, they say none of the current caps would fit, so, I'll be trying to figure out how to clean them up and fix them. I'll try to post some pictures soon. I just hope that I enjoy these as much as my KG 4's. Thanks, Andy
  5. Just bought a set of used speakers: 2 x KG 5.2's 2 x KSF-S5's 1 x KSF-C5 They are pretty beat up. The corners of the C5 have started to peel back from the MDF and the tops of the S5's are very scratched. Everything else looks good and they seem to sound pretty good. I'm looking for advice on the repair. I would like to replace the top and bottom covers on the S5's with new ones if those parts are out there. They look like the same size and shape as the new SS line, so I'm hoping I could get those parts. Anyway, I'm opening up the floodgates to advice on repair/restoration of these babies. If anyone needs pictures for clarification, I'll try to get those posted in a day or two. I'm laid up from back surgery right now....... My KG 4's are about three times as old, have moved 9 times, and look much better. Shame people don't take care of stuff. Thanks in advance, Andy
