  1. I own two pairs of Cornwalls - 77 and 83 I recently updated my 83 with the rebuild kit from Bob C. WHAT A DIFFERENCE. Especially since I can do a A/B Comparison - Its hard for me to describe the difference no necessarily soft, bright, etc..... but just so much more "clear, defined, detailed" My 77 cornwall have Bob C. cast frame woofers, and hence the 77' have a better lower end than my 83' that still have the orignal woofer. I already bought the rebuild kit for my 77 and will be rebuilding the crossover very soon. I bought two things from Bob C. 1) Replacement Woofer - very satisfied 2) Rebuild Kit - EXTREMELY SATISFIED and probably the best mod to the Cornwall. And in general - I still can't believe how outstanding of a speaker the Cornwall is. Its the speaker that made me fall in love with Klipsch speakers. They are just unbelievable speakers (even better now with Bob C. upgrades)....and I can truely understand why people buy khorns and then sell them and buy la scalas and sell them etc...etc....but keep the Cornwalls.
  2. Dwilawyer, I am sorry to hear about your loss. I remember my when my brother had to sign to put our dog to sleep. My brother never cries for anything (movies, family drama, anything at all).... but when my brother had to sign to put our dog to sleep....I remember him shaking, crying like a little baby.... Once again, terribly sorry about your loss. Hang in there. Dhar
  3. They were infact Cornwalls. The seller replied "The cornwalls are gone" very soon after they were posted - hence I am guessing the must have sold for $100. Cornwalls for $100 - I can't believe it - and they were 8 miles from me :-(
  4. Guys, I finally got the respond that they were sold. I really hope someone from the forum got them. (oooo.. and I am talking about the cornwalls, dont know the status of the fortes)
  5. And the only reason why I said they maybe corwalls is the spacing between the woofer and the squaker..... in hersey's they are relatively close. If you look very carefully, you can kind off see the squaker and the woofer.
  6. I triend sending the e-mail earlier this morning but noone ever responded. Furthermore, I think it maybe even better deal than one had thought, they might be Cornwalls from the way they look.
  7. Sorry but these have the Square magnets, they were taken out from my 1977 cornwalls. I will try to look for a good box for these so I can ship them. Thanks.
  8. I have Sonic Impact T - interegrated amplfier - I know that idea was ditched but if you were curious about toying with one, I can sell you mine for 90+shipping. also have the power adapter that will be include. Its the newer one by the way. All silver one.
  9. Thebes, thanks for offering to test out the tubes, I would love that. This weekend might be difficult but I wouldnt whenever you find it convenient. To all, I also just picked up the Fisher 500C with the orignal walnut veneer case and all fisher tubes with Fisher XP-6 speakers for $200 - it was a local sale had to get it....its Dusty like no tomorrow but still fully functional. I really dont need the XP-speakers although they sound okay... anyone here is welcome to have them if they want to pick them up. In regards to the 500C, it still have all original tubes and man do the run hot, but would they need to be replaced, the thing sounded phenomenal and loud. Klipschguys, could you please tell me where I can pick up the issue you mentioned? Do you have a copy? Please let me know. Thanks guys for your input.
  10. To be honest - I did mine for the pure aesthetic reason - My cornwalls did not have a grill in the front and old ones did not look pretty. The new Bob C. one look a lot better (yes I know these a poor reason). In terms of sound - the new ones are suppose to go lower.... but at the time I changed the woofer, I soon replaced the CAPs, which Bob C mentioned might cause the bass to be more lean..... none the less... I bought my cornwalls with the old woofers that sounded Excellent... but I have read forums here where people do perfer the new Bob C. woofers - I do personally enjoy the new woofers alot ... I just did not do a good job comparing apples to apples. I read the forums here before making the change and many believe its a worthwhile upgrade.
  11. I just recently purchased the Fisher 400 receiver. I has all the orignal Fisher tubes except for one missing 7868 tube. I bought it on ebay and I was told all tubes were included. I contacted the seller and he siad the packager must have lost it.....he mentioned he will reimburse me.. anyways... I now have a Fisher 400 with missing one 7868 tube. I know nothing about tube equipment - this was my first tube purchase. I've done a little reading and found that people recommend new old stock tubes. What do you guys suggest I do? - Can I simply replace one tube? Or will all the 7868 needs to be changed? I know this is a stupid question but I dont know. I would imagin that replace just one tube might cause one channel to be louder. Does anyone have a NOS 7868 tube they are willing to sell. Thanks
  12. I replaced the woofers in my 1977 - Cornwalls with Bob - C woofers. These are available for sale - They are in perfect working order - only think is that one of them has a punched in dust cap which does not effect the sound at all. Anyways - I don't know a good price - not really looking to make money - just want to recover some of the cost of the new woofers. I have no means to ship them - is you want to send me an empty box for them - I can box them up and mail them to you. Local sale is encouraged.... like I said, I can ebay them but want to sell them for a good price to the Klipsch community (who has helped me a lot). Thanks - Dhar
  13. I understand this is a Klipsch Forum, but some people here also take interest in JBLs. Hence, for those who are interested. I have JBL Lancer 99 - - excellent tweeter and woofers, grills, etc. I just say the pair of tweeter go for 75+25 shipped on ebay. The woofers LE-14s also go for a little over a $100. I also have a pair of JENSEN MODEL 6 (which was their top of the line), the woofers need to be refoamed. I dont want either pair - make me an offer you can even low ballers are allowed (just no too low). The only catch is that you have to buy both. I really dont want either, and I dont want to take out the components and sell them individually. JBLs are fully functional. the Jensen need refoam (the cabinets are in good shape - excellent for a DIY project). ALL OFFERS ARE WELCOMED. - this is for the washingon DC area only - CAN NOT SHIP
  14. I wanted to pick up a pair of conrwalls and ended up selling my KG-4, Marantz and etc. - however i missed out on the sale. I already own a pair of Khorns but these are going in another room. Anyone looking to sell the Cornwalls or Forte, etc (can't do La Scalas). perfer the heratige series. Thanks
  15. I efforts to pick up a pair of Cornwalls - I sold my Marantz 1060, Klipsch KG-4, and JBL Lancer 99, only to miss out on the Cornwalls. However, someone local is just listed CF-2 - there is never much about them - worth it for 300? I need to replace at least one of the speaker pairs I sold.
  16. I had e-mailed the seller as well. Pictures were sent, if you want send me your e-mail address and I can forward them too you. But - they look to be in superb condition. oiled walnut, there appears to be no damage looking at the pics

  18. Thanks Allan, I will definately contact NOSval to see if they have any available. I was just thinking if buying one off from e-bay and sending it over but have no clue how much it costs to have one rebuilt. I just didnt want to buy one too expensive and then pay another couple hundred bucks to have it rebuilt. Lastly I was reading a sixmoon article about the Fisher 400. I have someone selling that for $415 in absolutely mint if not new condition with all updates by the Fisher Doctor. I've not read much about the Fisher on the forums here, but I do not know how it compares to the Scott.
  19. Hi guys, Earlier this week I was asking about the Scott299 - that was SOLD!... However, the seller has contacted me offering the Harman Kardon Churchill SR1000 "Stereophonic Hi-Fi Receiver" - for $175. He claims its a excellent tube receiver for efficient speakers such as the Khorns and uses the uses 6v6GT tubes. Can anyone share their opinion on this? For an additional 100 - he will also include Dual - 1229 with United Audio base which opens up and includes stacking spindle and 45 insert+taller more desirable smoked dustcover + spare headshell and the original Shure M91 cartridge with new stylus.
  20. Thanks Audio Flynn and other who shared their thoughts. It was acutally Joe (who I bought the Khorns from) who suggested me the Scott299A a good first venture into tubes. The seller of the 299 is offer me the 299 + 310c for $500 or Harman Kardon SR1000 Churchill tube receiver for $175. Don't quite know which way to go.
  21. Would you say its a "steal" even if they might have to be looked over by craig?
  22. NOTE: I copied the below from my other thread - sincere apologies for multiple posts. I have the option to purchase - 1) Scott 299A - in excellent condition - no mods with 5AR4 replaced it with a brand new JJ. GE outputs and Sylvania inputs are all good. The person said from the listening position everthing sounds perfect. He says if he disconnects everthing and turns it all the way up, with your ears close to the speakers you can hear a sligt hum. But he says its the same case with his Fisher 500C and the HKTA3000 2) Scott 310C - vintage tube tuner - excellent condition 3) Dual -1229 turntable with United Audio base which opens up and includes stacking spindleand 45 insert and taller smoked dustcover. plus spare headshell and the original Shure M91 cartridge with new stylus. Everything included shipped for $600 - is that a fair price?

  24. Joe recommended as well as several other forums members recommended that I try vinyl. I have never owned a turntable, never owned any vinyl....just always cds. Any recommendation in regards to a very very budget used turntable. I am willing to spend anywhere close to 200 in the used market. And there are may available in the local used market for way under. Forexample, someone local is selling a Dual 505 - just the 505 not 505-2 or 3 or 4 etc. for 40 bucks - orignal manual and box. Is that a good deal, he says he has been upgraded to "the best diamond stylus" Is that any good? Or do you have any other recommendations
