  1. Go for it! It will be a marvelous experience and you will learn much from it. It also will give you a sense of satisfaction on building something that sounds good :)

I built both the Foreplay and Paraglows stock from kit but have upgraded them over the years to their current incarnation. You can see them by clicking on my signature.

The Bottlehead forum is a treasure trove of info with friendly people willing to give assistance/advice when asked.

  2. I use my own recipe based on the formulas given from TNT Audio at http://www.tnt-audio.com/clinica/fluids.html

I mix 3 parts distilled water with 1 part isopropyl alcohol and add a few drops of a surfactant (I use Tetenol) and Windex window cleaner as a detergent. My LPs remain static free after cleaning on my KAB-EV1 record cleaner so I have no need for guns like Milty etc.

For stylus cleaner, I just use the Audio Technica AT100 cleaning fluid sparingly (once a week) and just use my supplied Shure stylus brush to do general cleaning of the stylus when necessary.

  3. I agree with what the others have posted above. Do choose your shipper carefully. I used UPS 3 years ago when I purchased my Cornwalls from Ebay to be shipped from Ft Launderdale to Singapore and they got dinged at the corners and the crossovers got dislodged. Ensure that the speakers are either crated or double-boxed with loads of foam peanuts or choice of protective material.

    Enjoy these awesome speakers!9.gif

  5. Wow, your FP and Paramours do look good! However, your journey is just beginning 2.gif Wait till you start tweaking your FP with things like the PDMPS, Sweet Whispers, upgraded coupling caps etc. I believe Voltsecond has a wealth of information on modding the Paramours too.

I am sure you will derive many hours/years of enjoyment from this killer combination! 5.gif

  6. Hiya,

I believe NA TTs are still not that common in USA but they have a big following in Japan and even here in Singapore.

I actually got mine brand new through Ebay from the NA Australian distributor who had excess stock to clear at a very good price. :)

I have been a fan of NA turntables for some time now. I like the simplistic yet sound engineering approach to the design of the motor unit and platter construction. It is also solidly built and is an excellent match to the rest of my system and the type of music I listen to.

Recently saw and heard the Annalog at my local dealer. Wow...great looks and it sounded fantastic through a full Audionote setup and Avantgarde Duo speakers.

  7. The TNT FleXy rack is really good. I built my own version 4 yrs back and it is used to support my 29" TV, VCR, DVD player and Yammie receiver currently. I used MDF painted Hammerite black and 0.7" threaded rods.

  8. Thanks Al! Mucho appreciated!

Fini, I needed the dimensions as I will be sourcing for a MDF board to mount the new components and am frankly just plain lazy to open it up to make the measurements. Also, I want to mount the boards back into the original locations so I have no need of drilling two new holes for the new boards :)

  9. Hi Klipschguy,

    Thanks for the clarification!

To reiterate, the Type B crossovers DO NO have any of the drivers connected out-of-phase. Using the schematic as reference, the driver connections should be: +/- +/- +/-

The Type B2 crossovers have the tweeter and squawker connected out-of-phase resulting in a configuration:

    +/- -/+ -/+

Do I have it correct this time? :D

  10. It is not hard to wind your own transformer, but to wind a good transformer is tricky Smile.gif Especially in a tube amp, the output transformer is a very important factor apart from the circuit design.

There are many well-established transformer makers in Europe that can custom-make decent high quality transformers:

    Lundahl-http://www.lundahl.se/

    Bartolucci-http://www.triodes.nl/transformers/bartolucci/menu_barto.html
