  1. Hi. I was wondering if any of you know what ohm a single Klipsch K-1083-SB is? It came out of a RF-3. I assume the ohm is either 4 or 8 but I am not sure if they are run in series or parallel normally when paired with another.
  2. I didn't only because I was told you could not get the woofer from klipsch which I thought seemed weird and also they were closed when I did try. Thank you
  3. Sorry I am in Minnesota and sadly I went to pick it up and the left woofer is damaged to the point that it crackles. She dropped it while putting it back in the box So I'm looking for a replacement woofer know of anywhere or anyone?? Thank you
  4. Does anyone know where I can get a replacment woofer for an RC 3. Thank you
  5. Excellent, if its a good deal then I will get it and if it sounds good then sweet......... if it doesn't keep your eyes on ebay. : ) Thank you
  6. Hi. I found an RC-3 for sale for $125 in the box. Mint condition. I don't know anything about this piece except I heard that it has a few low end bass issues. Other then that I was wondering if I should purchase it. Either for resale or to add to my home theater. What do any of you know about this piece?
  7. Thank you. I didn't build the stands. I found them at a flea market for $2 bucks and 3 weeks later i found a matching pair at a garage sale for $1.50. Strange but cool matching set all the way around. I did get rid of the Kg4 cabs. I sold them on ebay with the auction starting at $1.00 because I start most of them at $1 buck and like a fool I wasn't home to watch and remove it if it had no bids on the last day and someone got them for a buck. A sad day in Klipsch sales history but oh well I made out on selling 8's and radiator.
  8. Hi. I built new cabs using the Horns and crossovers with a set of JBL Mids that I had laying around. You can see some pictures here if you like http://forums.klipsch.com/forums/thread/917190.aspx Here is a pic of the final outcome I would have put something larger in like tens but I wanted to keep the cabs smaller.
  9. Just in case someone here is interested I tossed a pair of KG4 Cabs on ebay. Take a look. They are currently for pickup only but I can see what they would cost to ship. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=011&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&viewitem=&item=320128466013&rd=1&rd=1 They look far better than they do in the pic. Trashy camera!
  10. Thank you all very much! I have plenty of deciding to do
  11. I'm looking for an Audio Control Richter Scale III. If you have one to sell or know someone who does please get back to me. If you know of something similar or better I am open to ideas as well. Thank you
  12. I looked in the Forum but not much is said about the GFA 7000 or any of the 7 series for that matter. I'm guessing that because of its high power and bipolar amping that it will be very bright......to bright with my Klipsch speakers.
  13. I have a Harman Kardon Signature 2.0 Preamp and I'm looking for a good 5 or 7 channel amp. I'm wondering if anyone knows or has an opinion on the Adcom GFA-7000 or the Harman Kardon Signature 2.1. If not maybe you could point me in the right direction of a good 7 channel.
  14. I jumped the gun and didn't finish reading the last post. You got your badges and have no need for the grills. Oh well. P.S. You should have nabbed that Tube Amp!!
  15. Well if your interested I have a pair of KG4 Cabs that are almost mint and still have the labels. I'm in Minneapolis so I would have to see what shipping would run. I just parted out the rest and sold them on ebay. Also this might interest you as you said you need them and I don't have any. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=008&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=180129413626&rd=1&rd=1 Take a look. They might sell low My email is b.paulson@comcast.net Good luck
  16. Thank you. I used 3/4 medium density fiber board for the inner box and about half a million coats of flat black RustOleum followed by some solid 3/4 oak for the outer casing and stained it in red mahogany. I purchased all of it at Home Depot. [] I'm very happy with them. Thanks again
  17. I agree that the horns are lacking a little here and there in the beginning. However, I built the new cabinets because I enjoy the fun of the build and the progressive change. What I ended up with from the start was a slightly harsh tweeter and a slightly lacking woofer which I expected due to the small woofer against such a bright tweet on a state of the art amp. I have several small bookshelf speakers sitting around here collecting dust so i decided to start doing a little Frankenstein work matching them to the horn. I had started playing with several different 6 inch woofers because I wanted to keep the cabinets small but powerful. Ideally an 8 would have worked but I was set on keeping these cabinets smaller. Amongst the ones i own and am willing to take apart the JBL 6's from a set of 2600's were a good match with the horn. I'm looking to do a real upgrade on the 6 when I find the one that I'm looking for. The 2600 6's come from the factory ported and I was planning on using a sub to take care of my low end. I set the crossover points a little higher on the tweet side and I used a potentiometer to dial down the tweets just a little to make up for that insane brightness. I didn't like how much mid the horns were taking care of in the Kg4. That was a big part of my lacking woofer problem. Anyway, after replacing all the caps and coils on the crossover and changing the points I have ended up with some of the best speakers I have ever owned and my list isn't small. I am far more of a car audio person then a home, but lately I have become glued too a home theater possibility due to my on going love for movies. I'll change the 6's to something with a little warmer mid but in the mean time I'm happy. Bellow are some pictures of my cabinets. The backs show the KG4 Crossover and are ported in the center top region. I don't know why I forgot to take a shot of the back. Its late but maybe I'll take some tomorrow. I haven't put the grill cloth on yet but I will. You can see the particle board in the pic. It will pressure fit in once I cover it in cloth.
  18. LOL Not a chance. I just saw a set of four k-8-k's sell for $104 on ebay. I already parted them out and just for fun built new oak cabinets for the horns. I matched them up with Some JBL Woofers, ported them and changed the crossover points. They sound excellent. Look on ebay though. There are several pieces of KG4s for sale. Thanks for the offer though. []
  19. I just hooked up a pair of KG4s that I recently acquired and I had the same problem and I have talked with a few others who have had similar findings. I'm now trying to decide if I want to use the horns from the KG4's and build a new set of cabinets. Possibly a center channel but I think that some cabinets with a couple of nice 6's either sealed or some small ports to give it some warmth would be good. The KG4's had nothing in the mid to low end. I'm planning on upgrading the crossovers also. I did hear that that makes a huge difference.......and by huge I mean mammoth. Hope this helps you out.
  20. I will either continue using my JBL L100's or I was looking at getting a pair of JBL L112's. I will only look at purchasing the L112's if I decide to build a center channel out of the KG4 Horn. I am currently using a Klipsch RC-64 center that I think is sweet. The main reason for building either new cabinets or a center out of the KG4 is that I have the free time to do it and I love building things.....plus i have everything I need minus the woofers so i can keep the cost down. I have another room that needs speakers/center channel so I figure weather I build cabinets or a center I am one less thing that I will need for this other room.
  21. Now that I have heard them......I'm not a fan. I like the horn but I hate the 8's. The 8's don't put out a warm mid and the passive radiator has little to no warmth. I powered them via my Harman/Kardon PA2200 and I think that should have been plenty of clean power. Anyway, here is my new plan. I only paid 10 bucks for these KG4's so I thought I would sell the 8's, radiators and the cabinets separately on ebay. I have plenty of MDF laying around and and some free time so I'm thinking about using the horns and upgrading the caps in the original crossovers as I have heard out here that the difference is not subtle and for the better. I'm trying to decide weather or not to build a center channel using one of the horns or rebuild some new cabinets. If I decide to build cabinets I will have these on a high pass x-over so all I'm looking to do is find a good warm midrange speaker preferably a couple of 6's. My subs will take care of the bass line. What do you think might be a good warm mid and any ideas on cabinet design would be very welcome. Also weather or not I should even consider building a center channel with this horn.....or build at all for that matter.
  22. I was wondering if anyone knows what I need to upgrade the crossovers in some KG4's. I'm also looking for anyone who has a KD-12 Passive Radiator and/or a k-8-k 8" to sell or knows someone who might want to part with theirs. Thank you
  23. Thank you both for the help. I had seen out here somewhere else that the Forte's PR was similar enough to the KG4 for identical use but the more research I do the more that seems to be wrong. I also found out that there was a k-9-k and a k-3-k and others. I guess i will be searching ebay for what I need. By the way if anyone needs anything for the Forte all the pieces are currently for sale on ebay. Thanks again
  24. Hi. I just picked up a pair of KG4's at a Garage sale for $10 bucks. Someone had spray painted them so I sanded them down and refinished them. I'm wondering if I can use the Passive radiators from a Forte (KD-13) in place of the KG4's KD-12 Passive radiator....and whats the difference between the two radiators if there is any. Also on the backs of the 8 inch drivers in the KG4 it says K-8-K.......did Klipsch make any other 8 inch drivers for this model with K-9-K I saw some for sale and thats what it looked like it said? I would like to keep them as close to the original sound as possible but I am open to any ideas. Three of the four 8's are in good condition. Both radiators are damaged beyond repair but everything else is mint. Thank you for the help
