  1. This may show my ignorance, but aren't there a select few DVD's that have 6.1? The extended editions of the Lord of the Rings come to mind. And as for true 7.1, I am just waiting on this stupid format war to end or a least somebody that releases a player that doesn't run like an out of date computer or any equipment from Comcast.
  2. Hmm, so it sounds like it is a go to get this thing then. Listening to these speakers, especially the RC-64, just blows you away. I really doubt that there is a center channel in this price range that comes anywhere close to the sound of this one. If anybody has any reservations about the weight issue, please let me know. Getting the TV on this with my entertainment center is going to take three people at least, and I can't wait. A million thanks to everyone that gave this consideration.
  3. The plasma TV stand is designed not to scratch a surface, so that will not be an issue. Also the height and placement of the center channel would be optimum at that level. The only questions left would be whether the 75 pound TV would be able to be supported by the 66 pound speaker without: 1. causing damage to the speaker and 2. impacting the sound of the speaker in any way.
  4. First of all, thanks a million for the replies (but please keep 'em coming). If I placed it on top, I will rig up something to keep from using the back peg exclusively to support its weight. I am hoping my media center can support its 66 pounds. Any more ideas about putting weight on the speaker itself? Finally, the TV weighs exactly 75 pounds (it blows my mind that this center channel speaker is less than ten pounds lighter than the television).
  5. Last stupid question from me, but I am going to buy a RC-64 center channel speaker, and I am thinking the weight might be too much for the top of my entertainment center. So, what about placing my TV on top of the speaker itself? The TV is a 50" plasma, and the stand for the TV has more than enough room to rest on top of the speaker without hanging off. Also, this would place the center channel speaker at an optimum height as well. Would the speaker be able to handle the weight without possibly damaging it? Could the weight of the TV impact the sound in any way? What are does everyone think? A salesperson said no problem (of course), the tech person from the Klipsch phone line thought it would be OK, but it might be a bad idea, although he really could not say why. Any help is greatly appreciated.
  6. That effectively answers question #1; however, spousal approval of the speakers alone is on thin ice as it is, so construction involving burlap is not an option, but thanks nonetheless. How about for the speakers themselves?
  7. Bumping myself in the hope that some nice, knowledgable member can answer my question.
  8. I just got a Pioneer Elite receiver and plasma. They both are absolutely top notch. You pay a premium for the Elite, but I saved money for so long that it was worth it. I don't think there is a better plasma out there. The receiver is so crystal clear and perfect I could not recommend it enough; however, the setup was not very user friendly, but once done, fantastic.
  9. Favorite things to grill...lamb chops. I actually like them with a very hot flame that chars them but still leaves them rare. And if you ever have the chance to try a whole hog done in a dug-out pit, don't turn it down (probably a code violation in my neighborhood). For something different, take one bottle of Dale's marinade, one stick of butter, on bottle of clear Karo syrup and bring to a boil. Put cubes of deer tenderloin in the sauce and let chill for eight hours. Then wrap the cubes in bacon and grill. It sounds like it might not be good, but you will be amazed.
  10. First of all I am amazed at all of the Little Rock folks on this board. Just stumbled onto this thread, and I could write a book on BBQ and have had it all over the country. Hate to say it, but when you consider Kansas City, Memphis, Dallas, and really anywhere else, I have yet to find a town with BBQ that can touch Little Rock. I loved Toms, and knew the story intimately. He was given an offer he couldn't refuse for the land and had to take it. If you ever come to Little Rock, I certainly recommend the Whole Hog, and Sim's (but only on Arch Street with the bullet holes in the door). I would also say don't forget the Dixie Pig in Levy. For the festival it is Memphis in May (but it is harder to get into the BBQ contest than it once was). And, yes, HB's is the spiritual successor to the Shack.
  11. So this is what I am planning now that I came into some money: RF82's for my floor, RC62 for center, RS52's for surrounds, and RW-12d for my sub. Here are my questions: 1. How would this be for a small, rectangular room? 2. If I bumped my floors up to RF-63's but kept everything else the same, would that improve my sound or hinder it? Reason is I will listen to alot of 2.0 music, but the obvious main purpose is for 5.1 sound. 3. Should I hold out for a RC-64 center? The room is fairly small and the center will be on top of an entertainment center, and it would seem to me that the RC-62 would be enough. My receiver is a Pioneer Elite that has 130 watts per channel, and it sounds great with my Cerwin Vegas, but they will not last much longer, plus I have no sub, so I am interested in what you guys think. I have used Klipsch for several computer applications and I love them. Plus they are made in my state.
