  1. haha. LUCK? That would be a 70+ hours a week during the summer and 30+ during the school year for the past 4 or 5 years...oh and academic scholarships helped too... but, thanks, im sure you are right.
  2. And the big bean bag does get moved when I watch movies to a more "reference" position(where I sit of course). but in order to play darts it has to be stuck there.
  3. Well, heres part 2 of mine. I posted earlier my home set up. This is pretty much the same thing plus some furniture and an Xbox 360 I just bought in my dorm room at school.
  4. So I recently added a set of surround speakers to my receiver to (sorta) compliment my rf-83's and SVS sub until i can afford the matching Klipsch. This gives me a 4.1 setup, which is fine with my receiver. I have it selected 4.1 and it does what it does just fine...HOWEVER, if you are not familiar with the PS3, you have to select which audio formats your receiver can receive(HD formats are not included cuz they are not sent out...yada yada). i selected them all from 2.0, dts, dd, pcm 7.1, ect. and i was gonna let the receiver handle it, mix it to 4.1 whatever. So now, the receiver wont let me change how its being processed. im assuming(making an *** of myself, yes) because it always runs PCM 7.1 that the PS3 is doing the processing and just sends the signal, and however it is processed, (via HDMI) to the receiver. but what if i want to listen to just 2 channel with no sub or something? anyone know what i could do as far as the PS3 goes? Before when I just had 2 channel and no surrounds or sub i could select any kind of processing the receiver had to offer because it was never a multichannel PCM track, but now it doesnt let me change a thing. Can someone let me know what is going on? i think i have the just of it, but Im not really sure? Thanks
  5. so whos computer is so slow that the blocks hardly move? ha thats the best way i can see in accomplishing that goal although i did get over 18 seconds...2 minutes seems pretty tough. ill stick with solitaire...
  6. ahh nice dont you love putting rediculous things in dorm rooms??? im with ya man! how do you plan on powering that thing anyway yeah i wanna see pics too. Of your whole room see how it compares to my dorm room with ungodly amounts of electronics.
  7. just keep em both. you can't have to much bass. and i know, cancellation and all that yada yada, find a way to make it work.
  8. Well it really depends on what you need and how much you want to spend. I wouldnt really be concerned with the wattage because they're Klipsch Speakers were talking about here. If you need the features get that one, otherwise get what suites your needs best and what is in your price range. If you don't need HDMI, you can save alot of money (and have a better reason to do seperates). And if you do need HDMI, dont worry about getting 1.3, as if you read anywhere, its not REALLY needed since no player sends the audio out to get processed anyway.
  9. My friend has the same setup and uses a Pioneer VSX-84TXSi. It sounds good I think. But it really depends on what you need. He needs HDMI and enough power for a bigger room. But as far as sound, I think it does a pretty good job.
  10. not sure it would look totally great...but you always go to home depot or somewhere and have em cut you a piece of carpet with the pad already attached and then take it back to your place and cut it so its just big enough for the footprint. the pad thats attached usually is pretty stick, atleast the stuff i got was. I'm not sure how that would affect acoustics either...
  11. Hmmm...that seems like a lot of work, buying a feedback destroyer, mic, taking the time to do it, ect. Does the Velodyne do it all automatically? and would the results of both things be similiar? Room treatments are not really an option(i dont think) because i live in a dorm and move every year. I have tried moving the sub but really only have 2 places to put it and they both have loud spots. Are there any other options, besides EQ, that i could use? I know you are pretty much the authority on subs dr, who. what are the major downsides of eq'ing like this? ps. i currently run my speakers (83's) and sub with a crossover at 80 hz and small.
  12. I'm looking for something similar to the Velodyne SMS-1 but possibly less expensive. i'm pretty sure i have a big spike and don't really know a way to measure/correct it. I can hear it when i do a 120-20 Hz sweep, its probably atleast a 5-10 dB jump. I have an svs PB12-plus and it has a parametric eq for 1 frequency, but i dont know how to pinpoint the frequency thats too loud. I want something that measures it and puts it on the screen. Is the Velodyne the only thing that does this? Thanks.
  13. So I was watching the "40 Year Old Virgin" tonight on DVD. They work at an electronics store and if you notice in the break room or something they have a big Klipsch Sign or poster or banner or something...Anyone notice that? I kinda want one. Anyone know where i can get one or have seen one? I'm sure it was some dealer thing or maybe just a prop, but i think it would look great in my home theater.
  14. that is a pretty good deal, unfortunatly im in iowa....
  15. Now i'll probably get kicked outta the forum but...i ended up buying a component rack and tv stand made by Bush from wal-mart...They were set up there, i have yet to set mine up yet, i bought them today and they will be set up tomorrow. They seemed sturdy enough and looked good. Ill post some new pics once i get everything situated. It was about half the price i was gonna pay with a couple pieces i was gonna buy online..about 300 for both.
  16. Nevermind, found another thread about it.
  17. Well, I'm really not into the wood stuff, plus the last thing i tried to build didn't turn out to well, mostly because i just don't have the tools.
  18. http://cgi.ebay.com/Klipsch-RF-35-Speaker-Brand-New-Black-1-Pair_W0QQitemZ140146609861QQihZ004QQcategoryZ14993QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Does that seem legit? I didn't know they were gonna start making those again. If it is, is that a pretty good deal? I was thinking back speakers to go along with my rf-83's and rc-64?
  19. I'm looking at buying a TV stand with only 2 shelves, a top one for my 47 inch lcd and the bottom for my rc-64. Along with this i need a matching component rack, perferably 5 shelves. Anyone have any recommendations? I would like a black metal and glass combo. I don't really want to spend much at all (doesn't make the sound any better), so the smaller the cost the better. I was thinking of this set, anyone use this brand before? http://www.racksandstands.com/VTI-AGR-405-B-AGR-405-S-VI1020.html Thanks.
  20. yeah they are quite a ***** to move, but if you keep all the boxes and stuff and have a few friends and a two-wheeler to help its not unbearable...especially for what they sound like. It's worth it to me i guess.
  21. Luther College in Decorah, IA. It's a small private school, very nice though.
  22. I'm goin back to school after summer here in about 2 weeks. I'll be bringing my RF-83's, svs PB12-plus, sony 5200es, 47 inch lcd, ect. and will be shoving it into a 12x14 foot room (of course it will be 1 of 3 connected rooms in my dorm room "suite" as they call it, so maybe its different). I dont see a problem with that at all...of course last year all i had was a logitech z-5500 system that i bought off ebay for like 400 or something like that. Anyone who came in gave me good comments about how good it sounded and i had PLENTY of complaints from neighbors on other floors. That was probably more power then was practical at college but really was better then just about everyone else out there.
  23. I see. I'm actually not 100% sure what im talking about...haha. I guess i want side surrounds if im doing 5.1. i suppose 7.1 is two rears and two sides.
  24. I have the rf-83's right now and am wondering what i want/need for rears. i know everyone has differing opinions but if i use the back channels for mostly home theater then whats my best bet? I was thinking some smaller towers because I really only want to spend around 5 or 6 hundred. On ebay they have some rf-35's for pretty cheap, would those blend ok or maybe the newer rf-62's? also, how much of a difference in the "surround effect" am i going to have compared to the rs-62's( i assume these will be better, but have no idea) and would those sound ok if i ran music 5 ch stereo? my room is fairly small 12x14x10, so really getting more towers are overkill (83's were overkill as it is) but they look cool and then i dont have to mount them or have stands or anything. I only plan on doing 5.1 but 7.1 in the future is possible i suppose (if i get a new room or something). yes, lots of questions i know. thanks in advanced!
