  1. I easily fixed the jumpy video by switching to progressive on the dvd player. I am listening to music on my computer right now through my receiver to my speakers, and my rc-64 sounds perfect, treble is just right, and the mids sound terrific, but my rf-82's have almost a hissing treble, and the mids seem to be lacking. I probably have a setting weird on the receiver or something, I don't know (options are like dts, pro logic II, dsp, logic 7...). Does the rc-64 just sound that much better compared to the 2 rf-82's? I could really use a program to even everything out for me, haha. It seems like the rf-82's are a bit big for the regular mid ranges my music hits, and it seems they are just kinda sitting there as if waiting for some bass, if that makes any sense. The speakers just sound totally different. Seems like the rc-64 is taking over and making the others sound bad. I'm wondering if I should have waited and saved up for the rf-63's... [:|] Any tips you guys for balancing anything out would be awesome, and I do mean any, haha. I am running the Harkan-Kardon avr-247. I really don't know what's best for each listening situation, such as 1/8th jack from pc to y cable-rca to the receiver. Playing Wii seems like pro-logic II game mode sounds best, then I let the dvd handle audio automatically. Thanks again for your input guys, I really appreciate it. Drew
  2. So in my receiver settings, set all the speaker crossovers to 80Hz? I am a little confused as to how that works. I believe the picture in my movie jumps up and down about a half centimeter when I put the video to 720p on all the components and on progressive. Any ideas why the picture is so grainy and jumpy? Thanks for your input.
  3. Hey guys, I have finally assembled my setup in my room, and it is pretty crazy, haha. There are a few things I could really use some input on to help me get everything setup good. For starters, my system consists of 2 x rf-82's, 2 x rs-42's, an rc-64, and an rw10d. Does anyone know what a good setting for crossover frequencies would be for a setup like this? I can hear a lot of hissing from the 82's and 42's, but none from the center. Knowing the crossover stuff for each speaker would be great, and how to set them. Also, I am totally confused about the upconversion and video stuff on my setup. I am running the hk avr-247, hk dvd 38, and a samsung 32" 720p hdtv. I am confused about how all the video features are supposed to work together. I have hdmi running for inputs and outputs, and have the dvd and avr setup to run 720p (don't know if it should be set for interlacing or progressive), even though the dvd I'm watching is only standard resolution. For some reason, the letterboxes jump around a bit up and down, and the picture looks extremely grainy, any ideas? I hope most of these questions can be answered, I have been trying to figure out what is going on and reading the manuals and online stuff for hours now, lol. Thanks guys, Drew
  4. That's why I am considering the 890 with the rf sensors. I have been looking at the package, but can't figure out where the rf sensor actually plugs in, any ideas? It's a standard headphone jack style input, which is kinda weird.
  5. The 890 does come with rf sensors, to make the remote wireless basically. Does anyone know if it will work with the woofer, if it is programmable?
  6. Just tried out the rc-64 today, this thing is insane. Sitting in my 10' x10' room it seems a bit out of place, but I can't believe the fidelity it has, when watching a movie, it sounded like the actor was really talking in person. The funny part is I am still waiting for the rf-82's and rs'42's, so I know it will only get better. With my hk avr-247 there are a ton of audio options to choose from, I don't even know where to begin. I am still trying to figure out if the hk dvd 138 is actually upscaling my dvd's to 720p as well, with hdmi cables everywhere. I am thinking about getting the logitech 890 harmony remote for the whole setup, I just can't figure out the difference between the 880 and why there is such a huge price difference. Will be cool if I can control my ceiling fan, sub, and everything else with one remote. Drew
  7. As long as my wii games and tons of dvd's will sound good then it's all good. I'm bound to find one mode that suits me just fine. Thanks again for all the help. Drew
  8. Haha, I only just ordered them yesterday. I wish I could tell you, but they will probably take a few days to get here. I may be able to pick up the rc-64 this Friday, which would be awesome. I figured the thx thing was just marketing. I also thought it was an actual preset or setting on the receiver, not a simple certification. Thanks again for the input, Drew
  9. I purchased the RF-82's, RS-42's, and a RW10d. I will be getting the speakers at the end of this week, or early next week.
  10. Hey guys, I recently purchased the harman-kardon 247 receiver after someone told me it had thx select in the unit. It definitely doesn't, and the dealer I bought my rc-64 from said to make sure the receiver I buy has the option because it's the best. Just wondering, is the option really that drastic to miss if it doesn't come with the unit? Are the other sound encoders more than enough? I still have time to take it back, but I think only the pioneers have thx select, which my dealer recommended in the first place. Thanks, Drew
  11. Hi guys, So far I have my sights on a RF-64, RF-82's, RW12d, and RS-42's setup in the next couple weeks. I was wondering if there is really much of a difference between the 247 and 347 receiver, besides a few more watts in the 347. Would either receiver be more than adequate to power this setup using conservative volume levels most of the time, and is the $300 difference between them worth it for going with the 347 over the 247? Any input is greatly appreciated. Drew
  12. If I was to get this receiver, would it's 95 watts per channel be adequate enough to power a pair of RF-82's, RS-42's, and a Rw12d? I will probably end up paying full price for the RC-64, when I buy it from klipsch along with the other speakers, no sense in skimping on the most important speaker. Thanks again, Drew
  13. What do you think about these receivers? I will probably throw down an extra 900 (970 or so with tax [:S]) for the RC-64 when I order my speakers from klipsch, no sense in skimping on the most important speaker. Others will be RF-82's, RW12d, and RS-42's. I am liking the H/K 347 so far. Drew
  14. Cool, I'll look into that. I am willing to spend about 800 max (possibly a bit more if I have to, I get a discount, but even with one the price will still be up there) on a receiver at best buy. On this list, are there any particular receivers which will give enough power to a setup with RF-82's, RS-42's, RC-52, and a RW12d? I have heard of clipping, but will this be an issue even thought the speakers probably won't be played very loud all that much? Thanks for the help.
  15. Thanks for the welcome and all the info. So far it looks like I will be limited to what Klipsch currently sells Magnolia, which for the set and best they offer is: RF-82, RC-52, RW12d, and the RS-42 surrounds. I am praying there is someone at Klipsch I can talk to about getting the better speakers when I fax them my order, even though Magnolia doesn't carry them. Any ideas? I haven't purchased the receiver yet, still looking around for one. For my small room, the volume will seldom be very loud because my family and everything, but when I am the only one home, I will let them do their thing, haha. I don't want to spend over 800 for a receiver from best buy, but from this list, which would be some good options? (I will only buy from best buy because of my discount[H]) Let me know about the ones the store offers as far as being compatible with the wattage for the speakers, would greatly appreciate it. Would clipping only be an issue when the wattage provided isn't enough as the speakers are turned further and further up? Also, will the woofer provide some decent wattage to the mains if possible, or does it not have it's own power plug? As far as my accommodation options though, will the system I can order from them be pretty good, in my room for now and a full size room in a house of my own someday? Thanks again for all your help, looking forward to any more info you audiophiles can give me. []
  16. Hey guys, I am in the process of putting together a new home theater system for my room, which is about 12' x12', and will go with the reference line up because they will be with me for years to come hopefully. So far I am definitely leaning towards the RW12d, RF-82's, and RS-52's (might have to get RS-42's though), but I can't decide if I should go with the regular RC-62 (if I can get it, may have to get RC-52) or pay a bit more and get the RC-64, which is just plain massive, haha. Reason I may not be able to get the better speakers is because of Best Buy accommodation limitations. Worst case senario I can't get the better ones, would RF-82 mains, RC-52, a RW12d and RS-42 surrounds be good enough for me? I am planning on powering the system with the Harmon-Kardon AVR-247, which puts out about 85 watts per channel, will this be enough for the system? Will clipping be a possibility? How would a Yammy in the same price range compare? As far as the RC though, will the 64 be too much for the system compared to the 62? Will the different size speakers go alright together? Lastly, would going from the RF-82's down to the 62's be much of a difference? Let me know your opinions, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks PS: This is a copy of my older post which I put in the wrong section, sorry mods. []

  18. Well, if I can still at least get the RF-62 or 82, RC-52, RS-42, and the RW10d or RW12d then I will be quite happy. If I was to get the rf-62 and the 10", how big of a difference would it be instead of going with the 12" and the rf-82's, or would it be better to get the 12" no matter what? My room is about 10' x 12' , and the front portion for the lcr's is probably about 5' wide. I'm trying to figure out how I will pay for the set, as I have a $500 dollar limit on my debit card. I don't feel like sending a money order, so maybe they will let me extend my limit for a week or two. Can I just order everything over the phone? My brother is going to kill me one way or another when he sees all these gigantic speaker boxes arriving at my house, since his room is right next door to mine.[<)] Thanks for the info Professor, let me know what you think about my speaker options, and the different sizes going together differently.
  19. Hey guys, I also work at BB and only found out about the reference accommodation. I was stoked to see the discount on the regular synergy's, and even more when I saw the references, haha. As far as magnolia not carrying klipsch, how is that a fact? They still have them on the website. I hope I am right in that I can get a discount on references, because on the accommodation order form for magnolia, it strictly says this on two sections of the order form: "This offer is valid for current Magnolia and Best Buy employees only." & "Best Buy or Magnolia Supervisor/Manager Signature approval." Even if they will only let me order the synergies, is there sill a way to get a discount on the ref's? I am very cool with my supervisors and managers. I am definitely going to get the rs-42 set for surround, rc-52 for center, and am deciding between the rf- 62 and 82 for fronts, and the rw10d and 12d for the sub. Is there really a difference between getting the 62 and getting a 12" sub, and vice versa? Will getting different size woofers really make that much of a difference between the bigger the gap between them are? Let me know what you guys know about the discount, I really want to get those references. Sorry if I revived an older thread. Thanks Guys!
