  1. What Okyo amplifier do you have? Is the Dolby mode showing on the display? How many other speakers are attached to the amp? Are they all working? Steve
  2. Yes you can. Here is a good article on the calibrating a subwoofer. http://www.bigpicturebigsound.com/article_560.shtml BTW, did you notice a major difference in sound between the two subs or was it just the price and specs that determined your decision?
  3. I have the RPW-10 and am very pleased with it. It will not shake your house of the foundation (which my wife would not tolerate anyways), but it has a very pleasing, and tight bass, and more than adequate power. I have the volume set at only 1/4 in a bigger room than yours. I used the Radio Shack sound meter to calibrate it to my other speakers. (RB51's, RC52, and RB10's) I would suggest that you demo both subs, and pick the one you like the best. Best Buy carries both of them, and allows you to return them within 30 days, no questions asked.
  4. The internal wire connected to the left LFE input has become disconnected on my RPW-10. Can I use the right input plug instead. It seems to work. Do I have to ship the subwoofer to Klipsch to get it repaired or will the warrenty cover local repair?
  5. The most important speaker is the center speaker, since all of the dialog goes to it. I would recommend upgrading to an RC52 and then when you get more money, upgrade the rb10's to rb51's. You can always sell the old ones on E-Bay to finance the upgrade to the RB51's. The SB-1's or the RB-10's are both fine as surrounds. It is not anywhere near as critical to match the back speakers to the front as it is to match the center and main speakers.
  6. I tried both. The RC52 has a much fuller sound. Also it is matched with the RF-52. Subs are the one speaker that does not need to be the same brand and model. If it sounds good, it is good. Best Buy lets you buy and return speakers. You can always try the Klipsch subs. Cheers, Steve, RB51's RC52 RB 10's (surround) RPW-10
  7. You won't like the surround speakers at ear level. Radio Shack sells Omni Mount adjustable speaker stands for ~$40 that are 48 inches high and can handle heavier speakers. I had the same problem when I was using 31 inch stands. The Omni Mounts made a dramatic difference. http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2123418&cp=&sr=1&origkw=adjustable+speaker+stand&kw=adjustable+speaker+stand&parentPage=search
  8. I agree, neither are good solutions. I would recommend building some custom speaker stands that can handle the weight of the KG2.5's. Home Depot should be able to hook you up with the materials you need. Most of the commercial stands can handle speakers up to 10 lbs. I use the Omnimount speaker stands I bought at Radio Shack for my RB10's. that are 48 inches high. Good luck!
  9. I currently have the following HT setup. Panasonic 42X75U, Onkyo TX-SR505, RB51, RC52, RPW-10, and SS.5. I am looking for advice as to whether I should replace the SS.5's. I do not have a wall to hang speakers on, so I purchased Omni mount adjustable stands that can be raised as high as 58" for the surrounds . My guess is that RS-42's or RB-51's would be too big for the stands. Should I stick with the SS.5's or upgrade to RS-10's or RB-10's. All three have similar specifications. Are there any other alternatives? My current system sounds sweet so I am wondering if investing another $200+ is cost effective.
