  1. It's great. This series will be my next upgade, though I don't know the time table.
  2. I have an 4 year old Onkyo receiver from HTIB. When I am playing with two Channels am I using subwoofer? If not how can I use it?
  3. No matter which brand and type you get, it must have full 1080p. I have Samsung plasma with video spark problem. The tech said the Y board is bad and so far 8 weeks had passed and he hasn't got me back on the repair. Other people said their samsung work great. I would not buy another samsung.
  4. Why not get a speaker selector and enjoy different fronts now and then?
  5. All retailors or even the manufacturers will have extremely hard time to get rid of the HD DVD disks. We jsut don't know how many they have. It's not business wise for them to destroy the disks. So the question is how low the bargain will go. I have the Xbox add-on (arkward device) and am willing to get some HD DVD disks if the bargain is worth buying.
  6. What's the material of the cabinet of C-3? Looks like plastic. How inferior is it to the MDF? p.s. C-3 is available now at bestbuy.com.
  7. I think HD DVD is over. Walmart will sell only Blue Ray.
  8. Why a tweeter could be blown if the input is within its range. if we open the speaker to check for possible loose wire will that void warranty?
  9. I think the HD DVD camp strategically missed the chance to get bigger share of the market. Given the advantage of existing factories making HD DVD disks this camp should have delivered more contents earlier and should have sold players at much lower prices. Now Blue ray will keep its momentum and it's too hard for HD DVD to win back. btw, I hate the awkward HD DVD add-on of Xbox360. Two machines and many cables and loud noise of the drives. I used the player remote and the gaming dvd drive open/close but the add-on player does not respond. The whole system locks up whenever I tried to use fast forward or fast rewind. I will contact Microsoft to see what's wrong with that.
  10. I was focusing on the RF-35 as 4 surrounds. Yes, he has to replace the RC-35 with RC-64.
  11. Are there specs and prices available for the matching surrounds and center? I start saving today.[8-)]
  12. Monique, throw away your cell phone or change the number but don't give it out the new number. I was caught by police. I stole the speakers and she helped selling them and now she told everything to police. [8o|]
  13. Went to bestbuy this past weekend and found a lot a lot more Blue ray disks than HD DVD disks. Wasn't supposed that we shall see more HD DVD disks because of the exisitng factory facility on HD DVD format and it was supported by more media companies?
  14. No, I killed her. Montigue231 is the next and I am searching for his address. Bastard.
  15. After you get the size you think is right go and buy one size bigger. That's the right one.
  16. I think it's important the rear surround are placed on the back. Your receiver should have a setting on Distance that between each speaker and the place of listeners. Try that and see how it is.
  17. I had the exact same issue. I have F-3 and C-3 is too big to be inserted into the stand. I don't want to go lower. All people told me I should get C-3 and I agree. You may use a keyboard rack to hold the C-2. Some keyboard racks can sit on the back of tv very well.
  18. I use Xbox HD DVD to watch HD DVD disk and it's quit loud. Now I don't think it's a good idea to use the game machine to watch movie.
  19. The Lord of Ring HD DVD are listed on Amazon though they are not available yet. The pic may be better than standard disk. Do you guys think the audio on the HD DVD will be better than the DTS 6.1 on extended edition? I hope they have discrete 7.1 on it. No matter what I will buy them once they become available.
  20. yes, the C-3 and S-3 have been available there for more than a week. Bestbuy still has S-3 (sometimes 5-20% off).
  21. Maybe one will win completely or the two formats coexist but just battle for relative bigger share of the pie of the market. In a year or two a decent player of any format will be less than $100 and continue to drop and everybody can have both players or a universal one. To consumers, it does not matter much who wins. The only drawbacks for consumers is the availability of a certain movie in a format because each individual company in the movie industry will likely to choose only one format. Will all the parties agree on making movies available in both formats? Unlikely on the business sense.
  22. THX Ultra2 is regarded as high standard and is also a successful marketing tool. One thing I am not clear is how the THX Ultra2 certified products vs. those that are without that mark or simply did not participate this game. A lot of high end speakers do not relate themselves to the THX standard at all. e.g. Klipsch THX Ultra2 are highly praised by people and so are reference 83 system. Ultra2 is priced almost twice as reference 83. But from the specs the 83 system looks better than the Ultra2. Of course we can't simply mechanically compare two systems based on specs. So what's the relative performance between the Klipsch Ultra2 and Reference 83 and is the price difference well justified?

    7.1

Choose a 7.1 receiver over 5.1 or 6.1 for future use even there is no 7.1 movies currently. You will appreciate the rear surrounds when you watch DTS 6.1 movies.
  24. Yes, it does. I have 6.1 with mediocre surround speakers and I do feel things behind me and it's more real. It may need some distance between the listeners and the rear surrounds. If you are choosing a new receiver I recommend you get one with 7.1 capability even you won't set up the rear surround speaker for now. The extended Lord of the Ring has DTS 6.1 already. For 5.1 movies the receiver will make the rear channel (kind of fake) from the side surrounds.
