  1. This sounds like terrible quality control. Look at some Monster speaker wire. You can find it cheaper online. You pay more, but in home theater, you get what you pay for.
  2. Hi, I have a Pioneer VSX-1019 AHK powering my 5.1 channel system, and I use my PS3 as my BLU-RAY player. They are hooked up through hdmi. I have not been able to successfully output Dolby True HD. I have been using the PCM setting on the PS3, and my receiver shows PCM up-mix. However when I press select and look at what sound the PS3 is outputting, it says Dolby Digital. When using PCM the dialogue is very weak but everything else sounds clear. I changed the setting to bitstream today to realize that the volume and dialogue was much louder, however sounded more boomy and less smooth, and when I press select the PS3 shows that it is outputting Dolby multi channel??????. This makes no sense to me. I am not in any way a professional, however I have never dealt with this format before. I appreciate the advice. Thanks, Taylor
  3. Is this sub worth the money? I just ordered one and am having second thoughts.
  4. Thank you for your opinion, it is appreciated. I will be getting a denon avr-791 an a sub-12
  5. Hi, I am selling a rw-10d sub and a yamaha rx-v661 to this guy that lives in my area. I am going to make enough to buy a klipsch xw-500d and a pioneer vsx-820-k. Seeing as how my yamaha doesnt have True HD decoding, is this a good receiver to replace it with, all I am powering are four klipsch quintets and a c-3 center channel. As for the sub, is this a good tradeoff or not. I love bass, and the rw-10d doesnt give me enough. Would the SUB-12 be an even better idea than the xw-500d? I am making the deal tonight so please leave opinions.
  6. Hi, I have a Yamaha RX-V661 A/V reciever, as well as a rw-10d subwoofer. I see that the subwoofer does not have a lfe-input, which only requires one cord like my previous SUB-10. My receiver only has one subwoofer pre-out output. I currently have a y-adapter connected to the receiver. This allows me to hook up the receiver single output to both inputs of the sub. Is this reccomended? Will this in any way cause damage to the sub? Are there any better suggestions from anyone? I am only 18, and am still pretty new to home audio, but I am addicted to it. I also had one more question. If my sub is put on +1 Gain on the sub amp, +0 on the receiver, and set to the punch EQ setting, how much of the subwoofers amplifier is being used? Someone told me that is using 85% of the subwoofers amp. I do not want a blown amp, so am I safe with these settings, or should I turn the sub down the sub amp? Or the receiver? Any help is appreciated.
  7. Thanks for all the help guys. I am going to upgrade into the reference series. I just am not happy with my system. Its kind of funny, It seems every time I get a new set of speakers or something, it just raises my standards more and make me feel like I need to upgrade again. The only bad thing is its going to burn a hole in my pocket. . Lol and I am only 17. But if it makes my movies more enjoyable than im all for it.Thanks, Thanks, Taylor
  8. I use the Dolby Pro Logic sound setting, I use a Onkyo dvd player connected with a digital coaxil cable.
  9. Hi, I have the klipsch quintet 3 system, I upgraded to the c-3 center channel. And use the sub-10. I have a sony str-dg600 receiver. I have been watching a few movies, and have noticed that I cant hear actual dialogue in the movie as well as I would like. It is very low and sometimes I have to really pay attention to hear dialogue in an action scenes and things. It is excellent on giving me full sound on surround effects and loud movie scenes, but I don't know whats wrong with the dialogue. I have my receiver set to the highest treble level, as well as the center channel up 4 decibel's. Please help find a solution. Thanks Taylor
  10. I have found the problem, I took the amp out of the enclosure and found that the positive and negative wiring on the amp going to the subwoofer were loose, this caused the wires to touch under the vibration. But all is good now, I have fixed the problem. And to answer your last question I keep the gain at 80%. Thanks for the help guys.
  11. Thank you for the quick reply, I have replaced the woofer with a brand new one. I am still getting the sound, I have taken the amp out to see if anything is loose and there are no loose objects in the cabinet, I might just upgrade to the sub-12, is this a better idea than purchasing a new subwoofer amp? And if so, how much more power am i going to get out of the sub-12, I listen to rap and like deep punchy bass.
  12. Hi, I have a klipsch sub-10 subwoofer that is making a very weird electronic rattle noise that is coming from the woofer, not the amplifier, however I have replaced the woofer, and it still makes the sound, it is hard to explain the sound, but it is very annoying. Has anybody else had this problem? please help me.
  13. Hi, i am needing a new home theater subwoofer, as i only have a 30 watt onkyo subwoofer. I listen to rap, and am looking for a good thumping sub for both music and movies, i have a klipsch quintet 3 system, and recently upgraded to a klipsch c-3 center channel, and am now looking at buying a pair of f-3 floorstanding speakers for fronts , as well as a pair of b-3 speakers for rears. i have a sony str-dg600 receiver. i was looking at the klipsch sub-12 and the jbl venue 12 inch sub, please give me any opinions/advice that i can use, thanks Taylor
  14. Hi, i just bought a used klipsch c-3 center speaker and it has 2 small but noticeable dents in the tweeter, will this cause a noticeable decrease in performance? will this cause any problems to anything else in the speaker or my amplifier? please post responces asap.
  15. Hi, i just bought a used klipsch c-3 center speaker, and there are four speaker inputs without the gold plates that belong there, and i have just a basic sony str-dg600. so can someone please describe a way around this problem with details asap? and please make sure it isnt going to cause any damage to my amplifier or speaker at all.
  16. Hi, i have a sony str-dg600, and a klipsch quintet 3 setup. i have been noticing lately that the sound really isnt to my standards, especially on music. So i was wondering if it could possibly be the receiver, or the fact that my subwoofer is a 30 watt onkyo subwoofer, or that the quintets just suck? I really just want a great complete home theater system for under $800, and the quintets sounded the best under that price range. So please give me your opinion on the matter.
  17. Thank you for the help, i really like my quintets and i guess thats what i will stick with. I would like to upgrade the center speaker however.
  18. How would 2 pairs of polk audio rti4s stack up to my quintet 3s. im wondering because i think i might return my quintets and get the rti4s and save for a csi5. would i be better off keeping the quintets and just upgrading the center or returning them. i like loud music and movies so please tell me which is best.
  19. I have the quintets and i am running them with a sony str-dg600 amplifier, i love it. When i went receiver shopping i compared this sony amplifier to a yamaha rx-v659, and the sony sounded better. And the best part is i got it as an open box item for $140. This receiver has plenty of power and then more, and it really doesnt strain at all. Mine has never had any problem with clipping. It is surely the best receiver for the price. Either go with this receiver or a pioneer receiver, cuz it is the only other brand of receiver that was comparable to the sony. I am not an audiophile but i know from experience that the quintets and this receiver go good together. Oh and im using 16 guage speaker wire to run them. Good luck and know that i was in your shoes a few months ago, and i made the choice of the sony after comparing different receivers of different price ranges, and the sony was the best in my opinion. So Good luck!!
  20. Thanks, i will be cautious on the volume and play it safe. and thank you for making me feel welcome everyone.
  21. thank you, i think i will just keep my quintets after all because im perfectly happy with them
  22. Hi, i have just bought a klipsch quintet 3 package and have seen some good deals on the mirage uni-thater 3 channel spaker, should i return the klipsch and get the mirage speaker or stick with what i got? Thanks
  23. thanks for the post i will go ahead and get the klipsch 12 inch sub to go with my quintets.
  24. Hi, i was at best buy today and they have the jbl 5.1 channel scs sat-30 satellite speaker set for $450, i have recently purchased the quintet 3 series speaker package and wanted other peoples opinion on whether i should return the klipsch and get the jbl. i asked somebody at best buy and he said i should keep the klipsch, but there are other people that will tell me to go with jbl. i have listened to the jbls and they sound kind of high pitched to me like dull, but im no audiophile so i have no idea. if a speaker sounds good to me ill like it, but i have no idea about anything else. Thanks
