  1. Hi I just picked up a pair of RS-42. My receiver is 7.1 and im not sure if i should connect them as Surrounds or Rears. The reason i ask such a question is because of where these will be placed. I am using a 5.1 set up and these will be going on stands up against the rear wall. My sofa is also up against the rear wall(due to lack of space of course) so these speakers will be right beside me, not in front of me, nor behind me. So i am just wondering what would be best, hooking them as Surrounds or Rears. Thanks for any suggestions. M
  2. Hi I just picked up a pair of B-3's new in the box for $199. I already own a pair of KG 2.5 that i bought in 1996. I will only receive the B-3's end of next week. I was just wondering if i should expect to hear a very big difference between the two sets and if the B-3"s could possibly be better than the KG 2.5's that i absolutlely adore. thanks M
  3. This may sound trivial but if i get lucky enough to pick up another pair of KG 2.5's and use one of them as my Center, the Klipsch Badge will not be centered and at the bottom, it will be sideways and off to one side. Is there any way to move the badge?
  4. I have 2 days left to return these for a full refund. I just noticed that i can get the RS-10 for the same price that i paid for the S-1. Is the RS-10 better than the S-1? I know that the Reference is higher end than the Synergy so i would assume that it should be better but you never know. What do you guys think? M
  5. I have heard that before that what you suggest would be ideal, but why do they even make center speakers if using a matching front is even better? M
  6. I would like to upgrade my center channel. I currently have a KV2 to go along with my KG 2.5's, S-1 rears and RPW 10 Sub. At this point i think that i would rather buy something new than search for a KV3. What current models would best suit my setup? Thanks M
  7. So i finally took my S-1's out of the box today. I unplugged my fronts and plugged these in, set my Fronts to "small" and set my Xover to 100Hz. They sound terrible LOL........i know they are not full range speakers but i just wanted to see what they sounded like with Alice In Chains Unplugged. Anyway, i noticed that on one of them, the woofer is not totally centered. Its hard to explain but i'll try. Since it is not perfectly centered, on one side the flexible rubber part of the woofer is slightly touching the inside of the hard plastic border that is held by allen bolts. If you look at a picture of it you will understand what im trying to say. Do you think that this is cause for concern? The other speaker is perfectly centered and there is clearance all around the woofer. Thanks for any advice. M
  8. IMO you will not be happy with the KV2. I have KG 2.5 fronts and i find that they overwhelm my KV2. I am presently looking to upgrade to a KV3. HTH M
  9. Hi Unfortunatley i am cannot mount my S-1 surrounds on the wall, therefore i need to purchase a stand for them. Can anybody recommend a good stand that would be appropriate for the S-1? It needs to be at least 34 inches tall. Thanks for any help. M
  10. Thanks for the help! Best Buy has them on Sale for $199 CAD. I hope there are some left! M
  11. Hi, I need speakers for the rear in my 5.1 setup. The S-1 are in my budget. I have a pretty small living room where unfortunatley the couch is against the wall. I figure surrounds are my best option as opposeed to front firing bookshelves. I have a 100 W Marantz SR 4200, KG 2.5(75W), KV2 Center(75W) and RPW 10 Sub. My only concern is that the S-1 is rated at 50W and my Marantz is 100W. Is this a major problem? Thanks for any help. M
  12. Yes, i do enjoy it. I am just curious as to why people do not like it. I am trying to learn as much as i can about the hobby and this particular topic interests me. thanks M

    RPW 10

Hi, I have had the RPW 10 for 9 months now. It gets alot of negative reviews on this site as well as other forums. I am a novice audiophile however i fail to see why this sub has such a bad reputation. I am very happy with it thus far, i cannot figure what it is exactly that people do not like. For the price $225.00 that i paid it locally, i cant see what would have been a better option. All comments welcome. M
  14. Here is my RPW 10 Review. When set up for watching movies, this sub is great, i am very satisfied....the whole room shakes. However, when listening to music CD's, i am a little disappointed. I find it to be too "boomy". I wish that it had tighter, cleaner bass. I am now wondering if the Synergy Sub-10 would have been a better choice? Mud
  15. Yes, at 3 dB higher, the center is just as loud and the fronts. However maybe you are right, its more a question of fullness than volume. I imagine that it is to be expected, the fronts have two 6.5" woofers, the center has two 5.25" woofers. the center is also almost half the size of the fronts. given all these facts, it would be impossibe for them to sound the same. am i right? Mud
  16. I dont think that it is the AVR, it is brand new and its the latest Marantz model. Right now i am thinking that it may be the speaker wire. I am using 10ft of 12 gauge wire for the fronts and 15ft of 18 gauge for the center. i wonder if that would make an audible difference??? I just find that the center does not sound as "big" or as "full" as the fronts. The sound is good and clear....i just find that the fronts sound better. Mud
  17. What is are the differences between the KG 2.5 and the KG 2.5V. Once i know the answer to this, i will probably shop around for one of those. Thanks Mud
  18. If having the center speaker be the same as the fronts to get a "perfect match", then why did they even make the KV line for? why didnt they just take the KG and change the position of the badge so that it looks good when laying down on its side? Mud
  19. Hi I currently have a pair of KG 2.5 up front, KV 2 center and RPW 10 Sub. I just got the sub and am very happy with it. No rears yet. I find that the KV 2 can't really keep up with the KG 2.5's. I have a Marantz SR 4002, i set the center to small and set the center channel volume 3 dB higher thanthe fronts. It sounds GREAT but not as loud as the fronts. I even bought brand new woofers for it! Now i am thinking of using the KV 2 as a rear center and buying either a KV3, KG 2.5V or KG 2.5 for front center. Which would be the best choice? Also, what are the major differences between the KG 2.5 and the KG 2.5V? Thanks for any help. Mud
  20. Hi Today a picked up a RPW 10 Subwoofer. I was wondering what would be the best setting for the XOVER. I can set it between 40Hz and 120Hz My Center is a KV2 and my Fronts are KG 2.5. Also, what does the toggle switch do exactly? Thanks for any help. Mud
  21. Yeah, the prices are good, i was just wondering if anybody who has used them would recommend it.

    RPW 10

HI My local Audio store is having a crazy sale on the RPW 10. $238.00 CAD. The cheapest i have seen it online is $349.00 US. I was wondering if anybody here has used this sub and would recommend it? Thanks Mud
  23. **Update** Hello I received my new K-1016-SV drivers today from Klipsch. Very easy to remove the old ones and install the new ones. It sounds great! The old ones were totally cooked....can't believe the Ebay seller would pull such a stunt. The best i could do through Paypal was get the seller to pay for one of the two new drivers. Better than nothing i guess. I was just wondering if there is a "break in" period for these speakers? Is there any do's or do not's? Thanks Mud
  24. Dave, I did not pick up the 4002 yet. Right now i am thinking of hauling my speakers down to the store and listening to several different amps in the same price range. Never know, there might be an amp other than the 4002 that i may find sounds better. On paper, this is the smartest thing to do, although inconvenient. What other amps should i audition with the KG 2.5? Any suggestions? Mud
  25. Thanks for the replies. For the KG 2.5, what is the best way to terminate the wire? I have never used anything to terminate, plugs etc. i have always hooked up my speakers to the bare wire. What do you suggest? Thanks Mud
