  1. Seems Klipsch is no longer bothering with the 4.1s, judging by the lack of answers they are able to come up with. And also they do not really check the forums that often now. Getting answers from them is becoming difficult. I am getting different answers from different people regarding the support of this product. Still hoping for someone at Klipsch to enlighten me. The most we can do at the moment is to find the circuit diagram and get some technician to repair it outside.
  2. Hi Amy, Nice to hear from you again. I have tried emailing promedia@klipsch.com. However as you can see from the above message with the attached email. They told me that they were not able to help. But Mr Bonner has indicated that you are still available to support it. Is it possible for me to personnally request parts to be shipped to Singapore? Tat Chuan has indicated that they would be willing to help me repair as long as parts are available. Thanks
  3. Hello again, Any news on the situation in Singapore? Or are you stopping Non-US support for this product? Please advise. Thanks.
  4. Hello Mr Bonner, Thanks for your reply. But could you direct me to the proper agent in Singapore for repairs. So far both of them do not want to take responsibility. Tat chuan says they cannot order the parts, Leapfrog says they do not support the old ProMedias. Thanks again.
  5. Hmm surprised to hear this. I have confirmed that the sub is the problem, the sub is too hot to touch and have changed sats with still the problem at that channel. The problem is that I am living in Singapore, so I can't send it direct to you. I bought the Promedia's from Tat Chuan Audio, they told me that they no longer support the set as they cannot order the parts from you. The distibution of the PC line of speakers has been awarded to Leapfrog. I contacted Leapfrog and they told me that they do not support the old Promedia line. This is part of the email that your customer service replied me. "Hello, Thank you for your inquiry. Unfortunately the 4.1 system has been discontinued so we no longer have parts to repair these units. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you. Thank you for your time and understanding on this matter. When replying to this email, please include the original message and all replies. No parts." Can you help? Also if you are able to send the parts to Singapore, can you send extra for when my Sub spoils again? Thanks. Sze
  6. Had my 4.1's for about 3+ years now. This is the 3rd time this has happened. Tried sending it back for repair but my old local agent says they don't represent the Pro-media line anymore. The new agent says they only repair the new GMX series. So I'm stuck. Had messaged Klipsch and they tell me they no longer support the line so too bad. This really sucks from a company that is supposed to have good quality products and service. Feel rather cheated. How can they stopped supporting a product less then 5 years old? If this is the case, I would not buy any Klipsch items any more. Unfortunately before I knew this, I bought the Ultras 2.0 as a temporary replacement. Really regretted that. Does anyone know of where I can get the circuit diagrams so I can get someone else to try to repair it. Thanks.

His logic is that even though it is in idle mode, there is current going into the amp and the heat inside would build up over time and not be able to escape. Causing heat damage to the components. Not sure if it is true, but I tried it and it was OK for a couple of months. Then a few days after I forgot to power off and now my amp is in the shop,
  8. ---------------- It's extremely annoying that aompanies these days include such a short warranty on their products. Essentially this says you're buying an unreliable piece of crap. But I digress. Has anyone else seen this problem? Any suggestions? Thanks in advance. ---------------- My unrealiable piece of crap is at this moment at the service center. The last time it was there was December last year. You are lucky they give a 90 day warranty after the repair. I only have a 30 day warranty. But the guys at the center said that if it was the same parts as last time, they would repair it for free. Until they get a proper solution to the busted amp problem, I would suggest saving the money and getting another set of speakers.

The 4.1 can no longer be found, it had be discontinued and extinct from stores. The 5.1THX was here long ago, but had also been discontinued. My friend bought it since last year. The 230V Ultra is not even out yet, how can it reach sg? What do u mean by overheating problems in the amp? The amp is bound to be warm during operation, there's nothing wrong with it. ---------------- If there is nothing wrong with the amp, why are you trying to put heatsinks on it?
  10. The local agent for Klipsch is Tat Chuan Audio at Adelphi, opposite Funan Center. But I would discourage you from getting the 4.1's. Have a bad experience with them. Overheating problems in the amp. I do not know if the 5.1's or the Ultras are in yet. They might be better choices if the heat problem has been solved. Think the 4.1's were discontinued here. Fact, Klipsch has the best sounding PC speakers I've heard, but they got to be working first. Will be going down to the service center. Will find out for you what they have.
  11. My amp died again. Same problem of crackling from my front left speakers. Thing is I just got them back from service. Paid S$95 for it. That was on 13.12.03. And the warranty for that repair was only a month. Just last night, I heard the front left speaker squeak. That was even though the computer connected to it was off, the Control pod switch was off and because I had passed the speakers to my wife to use, she only turns the volume up less then a quarter way up. Very disappointed with Klipsch. If this is the quality of their products, they have lost another customer. Also for people who are going to flame me, just wait till your amp bust before you say anything. To Amy of tech support, thanks for your previous help. i.e. when I first bought the 4.1s. Had really wanted to believe in your company. I don't believe it's your fault but your engineering department needs to look into their work. Now I need to go on my hopeless task of finding a set of PC speakers that sound so good.
  12. Thanks Seafarer, will try that once my amp temp goes above 40 degrees. Wonder anyone has tried installing heatsinks to the back plate?
  13. Just got the amp back. Paid S$95 for the repairs. Tech told me that some of the resistors got fried. Recommended that I switch off either the back switch or the mains, when not in use. He said that the temp in the box would get higher and higher if you leave it on even if there is no signal to it. Just to be safe I attached a temperature probe to monitor it. Running temperature so far is about 35 degrees Celcius. Hope it last for more then 2 years this time.
  14. Hmm come to think of it, the amp they gave back to me was probably refurbished too.
  15. When I bought my 4.1's about 2 and half years ago, the amp got busted within a couple of months. I brought it in for repairs and they gave in a new one instead. Most probably the refurbished ones are those that they have repaired.
