  1. Thank you all for your responses If I can get my hands on a separate amp then I will try hooking it up as per James instructions to try it out and if I like then I will buy. As for getting bigger better speakers, oh how I love the RF7’s replaced now by the 82’s but at this stage not an option as I do not have the room for it at the moment, my room is a touch less than 20 square meters – so I am pushing it as it is with the 35’s. My placement of speakers are as follows RF35’s (3.3 meters apart) RC35 is smack bang in the middle of the fronts and the surrounds are approx approx 5.7 meters from the fronts on the back wall approx 3.3 meters apart. I have made a decision, PS3 for BlueRay (this weekend very excited about that) therefore hopefully better sound there and I will let you know how I go. Thanks again
  2. Thanks Islander 5.1 package includes: RF35's, RC35, RS35 & RW12 Dont get me wrong, I am happy with the sound but just wondering if there will be a noticable difference with separates I think I might update my dvd player, I am wanting BlueRay but have to wait until October I think, isn't that when Blue Ray releases it's next model thingy? is that right? like I mentioned I don't know much about separates, I have no idea what this quote means. So the RXV750 is like what you control the sound and source and the 2 Yammies MXD1 are you using that to connect to your speakers? I know I sound like an idiot. sorry
  3. I am running the 35’s 5.1 package on a Yamaha RXV650 7.1 HT receiver. Is it worth spending the extra bucks in upgrading to separates to replace the Yammy? If I were to upgrade I will be looking at Rotel (I wouldn’t even know what models). I don’t know much about separates to be honest but I do know of all the separates noted on this forum Rotel is one that I can get my hands on in Australia. Question is: will there be a noticeable difference in sound and quality or I shouldn’t bother?
  4. Hi and welcome I also was in the same boat – upgrading to Klipsch reference line, first I brought the receiver Yamaha 7.1 then fronts and centre 35’s then rw12 and then finally and just recently the rs35. Took approx 2 years to complete, very happy tho. Please be wary, as I almost got caught out, if you leave it to late to complete your HT setup you might find that the speakers you want next could be discontinued and may find it very hard to find what you want. This almost happened to me with the RS35, I hunted and hunted them down, then finally I found one pair that was x-display model. I was so greatfull. I suppose if you can not find you just have to go to the new model J I have never heard the Heritage line either but apparently they are very nice. Don’t go over your head, as previously mentioned spend what your budget allows.
  5. Hi and welcome to the forum. We are all very glad you made the choice to Klipsch. You will soon realise as we all do that you will be a Klipscher for life. RF35 are awesome floorstanding Speakers - I have the same speakers along with RC35, RS35 and RW12. As for the foam - yes it is supposed to be there. What it does, who knows, maybe someone else is qualified to answer that one.
  6. thanks mate for your response The splice is inside, approx 1.5 meters away from receiver But you are right I might need to go to the trouble and do the job right.
  7. Over the weekend I installed the new speaker wire for my surrounds 16 guage – thankfully my neighbour was able to help as I hit a brick wall (not literally). Problem is, after I ran the wire through the ceiling and roof I did not leave enough wire for one of the speakers to connect to receiver so to fix I cut off some wire that was left over from one of the other ends and joined the 2 cables together just by twisting the two wires together so it will reach the receiver. (I am sure many of you are shaking your head in disgust with this). It does not seem to have affected the sound/performance of the speaker. Question: Do you think I should go back on top of the roof to fix this or is it ok to leave as is? To me it is fine but I am hardly the expert here.
  8. I am an expert in speaker wire after reading all that from the Web link - thanks Wrench that was excellent stuff. You would all be pleased to know that I brought 16 Gauge speaker wire today. I cant wait to install it now. My Klipsch should sound even better, if that is possible!!
  9. That is excellent information - thanks mate I think I could go the 16 gauge as the surrounds are about 5 metres (16 feet) from receiver, but by the time I run it through the walls and top of ceiling then who knows, but I can't imagine it will be 24 metres (80 feet) per speaker. Do you think it is worth it though? - will I notice better sound and performance. If so then I will buy and install
  10. I need your help yet again Klipschkings I only completed my Klipsch reference 35’s a few weeks ago, using Monster Cable for the fronts and centre (cable is about 10 years old – used on previous HT system) – should this be replaced due to age. However – the wire that runs through my ceiling and walls to my RS35’s is the cheap rubbish that you basically get free from lesser speaker manufactures, you know the ones the red and black wire. Question: Do you think is it worth the money and time to invest and install monster cable to the surrounds. I would be looking at a fair few metres for the surrounds, maybe 30 to 40 metres I would think to run it through the walls. Would there be much difference do you think in sound and performance??
  11. Phono Pre Amp seems to be the way to go. Thanks again for all your help. I'll go to a Electronics store today and pick up one, I checked the web site noted above and they seem to be a very affordable.
  12. Thank you so much for the overwhelming response. Last night was an absolute rush for me and was unable to do anything regarding this, but as I was running out the door this morning to go to work I checked the following.: Receiver is a Yamaha RX-V650 Turntable is a Kenwood Belt Driven Turntable KD291R I will check out the back of the receiver tonight, but I am sure it does not have the input jacks. Hopefully I am wrong. Thanks again.and have a great day.
  13. Thanks mate - I appreciate your response I will check the back of the receiver tonight but by memory it does not have the Phono inputs - I tried connecting it to the inputs at the front of the receiver and that did not work. I think it has Phono on the remote because maybe Yamaha uses the same remote for a few models and my receiver may be a lesser model than others. As for the moving magnet (MM) or moving coil (MC) - i have no idea - I am guessing Coil as very little sound comes up at super high volume. I will check tonight - the turn table is a relatively cheap one - cost like AUD $200 so not a professional one or anything like that. Anyway - I will check tonight about the MM versus MC and the back of the receiver and let you know.
  14. I am trying to connect my old record player (I still enjoy the very occasional analog sound). I have plugged the rca leads from the record player into my 7.1 Yamaha receiver but nothing comes out – well that is a lie – if I turn up the volume really loud I can hear the music very faintly through my much loved Klipsch reference speakers. On the receiver I press an analog button, press Phono on the Yamaha remote. Dos anyone know what I am doing wrong? Can this be done? Maybe I should throw away the record player and records and move on to cassette tape and one day on to CD’s. he he
  15. Overkill for me – but if that’s what rocks his boat then why not. I would hate to upgrade though.
  16. Thanks mate. Appreciate the advice - it may just prove to be very usefull in time to come but at this stage I am enjoying very much what I have now.
  17. I am new to this forum, an Australian Klipsch fan. I originally went to a home theatre store just for fun, no intention to buy – but then they showed me the Klipsch range and immediately I wanted them. I upgraded to Klipsch a few years back and what a great decision that was. With minimal budget I could only afford the RF35 and RC35 and Yamaha 7.1 receiver then later purchased the RW12 subby. I left the surrounds as they were as I thought they were no way near as important as the fronts and really how much of a difference would the RS35 be. BOY WAS I WRONG. I recently hunted down a pair of RS35’s and immediately the difference was there. Absolutely amazing. Now I can hear everything in such great detail. I have realised now how much movie soundtrack I have missed by not having them. If only I had the room for the 7’s. I often wonder there are speakers out there twice the price tag of Klipsch, therefore to justify the double price tag they would need to bring twice the sound and twice the finish of Klipsch. Is this possible?? I say NO WAY!!!! Anyway I thought I will share my story to other Klipsch fans and now I am off to watch Jack Sparrow take on the Kracken in Pirates Of The Caribbean 2
