  2. Every now and then I bring the chorus II's in the room where I run my khorns and hook them up. they are sitting a couple of feet from the khorns and are about 17 inches from the wall. When the chorus' are not hooked up and I'm running khorns alone, I swore I could here a difference in the bass in the room. I walked over and felt the chorus passive and it was vibrating with the bass licks. Adds a nice little punch too! Anyone else had this experience with a passive sitting nearby another speaker and hearing the extra bass? Adds a nice little kick!

  3. Juicy Music Blueberry extreme w/lomc. It is in very good condition cosmetically and sonically it has that magic to me. The remote control is hit and miss though and I need a remote so I'm putting it on the block. For those that don't need a remote it is a nice option. The manual remote works great. Has the 6H30 Russian NOS tube. Will include the original EH 6H30 tube as well.Had this unit posted a year ago and agreed on a price with Jeepers but then I had second thoughts and wanted to A/B it with another preamp before letting it go. I sent a PM to Jeepers saying hold off. Before he saw my PM he had sent the check. I sent his check back to him of course as soon as I got it. It was my fault and in hindsight I wished I'd gone ahead with the deal. That has been the only transaction I've had on this forum buying or selling that was not flawless and enjoyable.

Anyway, I've have not had any problems with the unit in the year and a half since I sent it to Mark Deneen and got a clean bill of health on it after Ihad problem blowing fuses a few times. Mark told me to just use the main black power on/off button to turn it on/olff and not to use the standby mode on the other button. Since he told me this I have not had a single problem with the unit. I have enjoyed the music so much listening with the preamp in my system. Ran it with dynaco st-70, mcintosh mc2100 and mc2105, and quicksilver mini mites. was great match with all. Asking $1200. Knocked it down a couple hundred since last time since it is a year older and the remote control issue. The pictures are the same ones from last year but this unit has been kept in my rack in a smoke free and pet free home. No changes in condition that I can see from these pictures.

Will ship but I welcome local transaction and audition by forum members.

  4. Heard a lot (good things) about the mc30's w/klipsch on this forum but not as much about the mc60's. Would appreiciate hearing from any mc60 owners using those amps w/klipsch speakers, any klipsch but particularly the khorns if there may be some of those. And, if there happens to be any that have used both would love to hear how they compared.

One thing I like about these is the gain controls. I use a BBX pre and I like it best at the highest gain so it is an adavantage to be able to adust the gain on the amps.

  5. colinoates, I think you are on to something. I am a devotee of the pipe organ. K'horns can handle the 16' pipes with total authority as they are at 30hz or so. 32' pipes are at 16hz and out of range of ANY speaker you can fit into a room. One needs a sub for that. PWK designed the Klipschorn for cost and size as well as performance, and fully understood there was a few percent of the repertoire that would not be covered.

However, the NATURE of K'horn bass is also different from that of those "mushamusahwhumpwhump" things you hear on the road and in many HT systems. It's CLEAN and accurate. I've a recording of the Franck Chorale in B Minor. That chorale has what I call "quiet bass" in it. It's 32', and my Klipshorns by themselves get the bulk of it nicely. It's tight, quiet, and you both hear and feel the distinct vibrations in the air as individual waves. And, yes, a few things in the room or windows may rattle a bit.

I remain convinced there is no other loudspeaker one can purchase at any price the provides the combination of accuracy, range, efficency, size, and price of a Klipschorn. PWK told me personally that the Klipschorn's size was designed for 32hz waves and there was no way to make it smaller until someone invented a shorter 32hz wave!

Ah, the khorn bass. I can feel it in my chest even at medium loudness on some songs. Dave described it well. Some of us grew up with the big drect reflect woofers so it is different when you first hear it. Distortion free and TIGHT. Highly addictive and soon I was hooked. I don't prefer a sub, seems to interfere to me but I don't listen to the pipe organ stuff that goes so low.

  6. Small world!! Fenderbender came to my house and left with my awesome Khorns and exotic ESNs, plus my VRDs. I sure hope you are enjoying them. It was a sad day but I bought the first parts of my MCM-3 Grand system with that money. I built an almost identical pair of ESNs for the MCM system as I used passives at first. ALK designed those networks specifically for my MCM setup and the design has long since been downloadable from his website.

You will see pictures of these networks in the coming weeks as I saved/shelved them for several years and will be "bringing them back" to use in a special project I'm working on........and that I'm excited about. Stay tuned.

As far as what the special features of ALK Jrs. are compared to AAs.......I have forgotten all that good stuff. Dean can help with that. Dean built mine with 12 ga copper foil inductors and AudioCap Theta caps.

Mark, when fenderbender bought the khorns from you, they were stock except for the ESN crossovers, correct?
