  1. My set-up is getting more complicated as I learn a bit more. My next step is to Bi-Amp my speakers. I have Yamaha 6080 receiver and what I did is take the Main Front left and right (on receiver) and connected those to the bottom wire connectors on the speaker and the Surround Back / Bi-AMP (on amp) and connected those to the top wire connectors on the speaker. Is there a difference between the bottom and top connectors on the speakers? Note: Nothing in the "manual" indicates if there is a difference between the top and bottom connectors.
  2. Thanks guys. I did the equilateral trianggle thing and it sounds pretty good. Now to figure out where to put my front Presence speakers
  3. I have a 42 inch LCD and I sit about 8 feet away from the TV - (small room). How far apart should I put the F3s (main front speakers)? Some people said to put them about 2.5 to 3 feet away from the TV on each side which others said to put them 1 foot away from the TV. Other opinions include: The speakers placement should form an equilateral tringle between your listening position and themselves. IE if you are 8 feet from each speaker at the listening position, they should be 8 feet apart. What do the experts here recommend? My next problem has to do with the "Sweet Spot". I have a three theater chair setup and only the person in the middle chair gets the full effect. Guy on right side for example is too heavy on the right side effects. How do I minimize that? 4. I gave up on the HK DPR 1001 and bought a new Yamaha 6080. The Klipsch are still a bit high for me - I had to do +2on the bass and -2 on the treble Now they are sounding OK .... but I don't know if I would pay the $1,000 MSRP for these
  5. Instead of cranking the bass to +10 and why not put bass to +6 and the treble to -4. That way you are not going to extremes
  6. Jordan - thanks for the input. Do you think this receiver would do the job for the PS3? http://www.yamaha.com/yec/products/productdetail.html?CNTID=552121&CTID=5000400 I don't see LPCM listed on the specs but I thought most receivers did LPCM these days
  7. Just to confirm - if I have a PS3 I do not need a receiver with TrueHD or DTS-HD decoding? I can save money and get a unit from last year/generation as long as it has HDMI audio in?
  8. I have had a Harman Kardon DPR 1001 digital amp for a few years now. This weekend I decided to get new speakers and so bought Klipsch F3s (good price and good reviews). When I turned on the system and threw on a rock CD - I was disappointed. The sound in the high end was shrill and harsh. After a while it felt like my ears were hurting. I had to go into treble and bass adjustments and turned up the bass and turned down the treble but still does not sound "right" for music. Movies sounded OK. What should I do? I would not want to return these speakers.
