  1. so, I'm looking to buy a somewhat compact surround system for movies and video games, i've already got a reciever and pro logic processor (yes I know a 5.1 reciever would be better, that upgrade is down the road aways, especially since I'm currently happy with the Dolby Surround tracks on my DVDs, and my Laserdisc/VHS collection doesn't have 5.1 audio encoded to it, so matrix surround works just lovely for that), I just need a speaker solution thats fairly compact I was looking at the Cinema 6, since Amazon seems to have a pretty good deal on it, but then pieced together a Cinema 10 package, I've got a few questions: Is the Cinema 10 worth the ~$400 more? Is there any real difference between the silver and black versions of the speakers? (The silver ones are cheaper, I'm not sure if this is a sale or if theres actually something different with them) How would either of these systems suit what I'm looking to do, or should I be looking at something different? keep in mind its technically LCRS (left/center/right/surround) for multi-channel, but a 5.1 reciever is eventually going to be a reality, so i'm fine spending a bit more on quality surrounds and center now, knowing I'll take advantage of it down the road
  2. it wasnt really the bass that bugged me, it was that the F2's sounded like they were inside of a box, like massively recessed sound, more bass wouldn't seem to help that very much imo (i like a very forward and warm sound) no idea where to find a pair of F-3's to listen to though gonna try a little better retail shop and see if they have some other options, hopefully from the reference line (like RF-62/RF-82)
  3. so, went to a local shop and demo'd 10-15 pairs of loudspeakers, ultimately hated bookshelves as an entire class of speakers found the Synergy F-2 to be almost "it" (the dealer's RF-62's weren't up and running, and he had neither the F-3 nor the RF-82 in stock) ended up liking a pair of Mirage's a bit better, due to their top end clarity, so I'm wondering, does the reference series have a massive jump in quality over the synergy series (like, would it be worth the longer drive to another county to test out the RF-62's? or can I gauge the F-2's as a decent representation of what they're going to be capable of, freq response wise)
  4. so its actually got a high level output so I can wire it amplification -> sub -> speakers? and the amp itself would be driving the speakers? how would this effect coloration (if any?)
  5. amplification is off my Yamaha RX-770, it sounds great with what i've got hooked up to it right now (pair of Technics i borrowed from a family member, not bad speakers, but I can't keep them...)
  6. ok, so i've got a reciever thats designed for stereo output, and has no LFE/sub output reading the manual to the RW-10d/RW-12d (i'm thinking i should probably go with a sub with my new bookshelves, just to get the LF i want) it talks about line level in, from the pre out, which my reciever has, but it has no pre out return on teh sub, so my reciever wouldn't be getting any signal back it also talks about high level ins, which I can connect to the "B speaker" output on my reciever (yes or no?) but wouldn't that damage the sub by driving power into it? is there any other way to get the sub connected? (i really dont want to trash this reciever seeing as its got really nice output) whats the cutoff like if i just run a line-level signal (i think i can get two pairs of line level out from my new DAC (haven't bought it yet, waiting on speaker choice to lemme know if i can do the DAC yet), so could i just run one to the reciever and one to the sub? (would that suck for volume control?))
  7. what amplifier are we talking about? does it have any diagram saying either way on the back (might take some looking from different angles to make sense of it)?
  8. so, from reading that, i'm thinking these would get along quite nicely with my yamaha reciever and wouldn't mind a sub added down the road thanks for the link
  9. Ok, so first post, I'm looking for a good sounding pair of bookshelf speakers and found the RB-61's and RB-81's to look quite nice on paper, but can't seem to find any reviews or information beyond whats available on Klipsch's website. Any comments/suggestions about either?
