  1. Wow, thanks for all the replies guys! Yes, the Sony ES has you turn the sub crossover to the max setting which is 200 and the sub volume to a little less than half way. Then it does it's autocalibration. I guess that way the receiver's internal control settings are doing all the low bass duty and not the subs crossover. That is the setting I'm wondering about, it defaults to 120hz inside the receiver's menu. I can set the fronts 83's....center 64, and surrounds 62's. I messed with going back and forth last night a lot. As of now I have the fronts at 60hz and the center and surrounds at 80hz. In theory that should spread the soundstage out a little more letting the 83's handle a bit more bass before the sub kicks in with the low stuff. Is that correct?
  2. I'm wondering if any of you have tried different cross over setting in the amp? I have a Sony ES which on auto calibration has me set my powered sub to the max of 200 for the crossover with the volume at less than half way. I have the RF-83's, RC-64 and the RS-62's....They are set to small in the amp. I never had an amp that gave me the choice to change the cross over setting. The amp sets the crossovers for the fronts and centers at 120-hz. What is optimal for those settings, or is 120 good? Any help would be appreciated.
  3. Hey nez....Here is a link to newegg.....They seem to have a lot of onkyo's on sale.... http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&DEPA=0&Order=BESTMATCH&Description=onkyo&x=0&y=0 Did you narrow the hum down to the pio? Or was it the xpa?
  4. Ok just picked up these bad boys....Dam, they are solid and heavy!...ha........ I see the keyhole bracket in back, so how are you guys hanging these? Just a nail in the stud or what? What is recommended? And is there a benefit of getting them up higher? Right now I have speaker stands that are almost 3 feet. Should these be up higher? Does it matter?
  5. So, it didn't really make much of a difference huh? Any new news to report? So many people go nuts saying how drastic of a difference it makes to them. Although, I do hear the Pioneer amps are pretty killer.
  6. I'm totally reading all of this as I'm pondering all the same questions!....lol With RF-83's, RC-64, RS-62's and a powered sub what would be the reasoning to go with the xpa3 over the xpa5 or vice versa? Dam there are so many options!...lol
  7. Hey Bill, thanks man....Couch is from Bob's!..haha.... Nice set up nezff!...Looks sweet......I didn't buy the Emo yet....Still trying to decide what I'm going to do..... Lot's of killer setups as I go through this whole thread.....So interesting to see everyone's different take on it all.....So many pages to go!
  8. Here's mine....I'll take more pics when I get my 62's this week...Now I'm just wondering where the heck I'm going to put some Emotiva stuff when I get it!....Thanks to nezff for talking bout his new XPA-3 he just bought, and getting me hooked!...haha
  9. Hey...So, what is the recommended height to have the 62's? I have my current rears on 31 inch high speaker stands. Is that fine for these or should they be higher?
  10. Ah....So I would need the 5 then...Goltta think bout this...lmao.....See what you started man....haha.....Totally interested in hearing your impressions when you add the 3!
  11. Hmmm....Now I'm wondering if I should just wait a bit until the UMC-1 comes out and ditch my Sony 820. Then pair it with the XPA-3. What do you think? With my 83's, 64, and the new 62's and my Cambridge powered sub would that be the best option? They have so many cool products it gets a bit confusing! Maybe I should ask in the forum? Any input?
  12. Well, the cheaper ones don't seem to have pre outs.....Right now I have the sony 820 since I bought the 83's and 62, a 52 xbr4, new stand all at once....lol.......Wanted the pioneer but my budget was exhausted....lol
  13. Yeh...I'm looking at the sony 2400ES.....So tempting!!...But dam, then its a grand for the rears, 800 for the new rec, and then 5 bills for the amp....hahaha............What are you doing to me man!........LMAO
  14. Dude, I almost orderd one cuz the sale is ending.....haha......But, then I would have to buy a new amp too!...lmao........Ugh!....So many positive reviews!
  15. Thanks Josh........Can't wait to fire them up! Funny how one thing leads to another!!...haha.........Nezff, you have totally got me hooked into Emotiva amps!...haha.......Why can't my freakin receiver have pre outs dammit!.....Now you got me trying to figure out what I'm gonna do to get a new one so I can get that dam XPA-3!!...haha
  16. Yeh me too....Although the 62's have to sound better than my current cambridge soundworks....lol
  17. I hear that Youthman...I'm the same way! Man you got me wanting that XPA-3. But my amp doesn't have pre outs! Lots of people are loving it for sure! It's hard to believe it will make my system sound better than it does now, but every owner swears it makes it even better! If my amp had pre outs I would have ordered it up tonite! I know my 83's and the 62 are craving more power!...haha...Then my receiver could power the new rears!
  18. Hey thanks guys!....Youthman, there is only a few hundred dollars difference, but tough choice...lol No thunder stolen when it comes to killer speakers and equipment...haha
  19. I'm psyched. Just ordered up my RS-62's today. Should get em' on Friday. Wasn't sure spending so much on rears but dam I love my RF-83's and RC-64 that I just had to! Blu-rays have rekindled such a love for movies and all this stuff! Replacing some wimpy Cambridge Soundworks rears. So, now everything will match and how can they not sound totally better? Only thing left is to pick up the RT-12d but for now I'm happy with my current sub, although I guess I won't be truly happy until I replace it with the Klipsch...haha.....I know many here can relate to that! So, how do RS-62 owners like their's?
  20. Hey man....Well, changing them to small was night and day...Like amazing! I totally would have thought they should be large but not even close. It's like my sub wasn't even kicking in with them on large. On small it sounds sick! Last thing I would have expected.
  21. Hey Youthman......Yeh, I'm gonna mess with tilting up the 64 and toeing in the 83's. Right now the 83's are straight, I think my wide angle lens distorted them a bit to make them appear like they are toed out but they are not. I'm loving this setup with my sub hooked up....The sound difference and 3D like openness with the 83's on small with the sub is amazing!
  22. Hey thanks man, I'm totally loving it! No, that stand was discontinued. This one is the BDI model 9429. Got it at Best Buy in the Magnolia HT area. It's a sweet stand.
  23. Alright..Finally got some pics of my HT....For scale the canvas on the wall is 40"x80" long....
