    DON'T DO IT!

Noted.  It's a great company, not big by any means, with great people, we're like a big family.  I know what I'm in for, but it will be worth it.  I'll be back at HQ the week after next for some meetings, some fun, back in the NE.

Congratulations, it would really suck to have to go out to Hawaii to fix a problem. You should be celebrating.

Thanks dtel.  Without writing a novel, the whole experience has been humbling.  It's a goal I've been shooting for.  I can't wait to show them what I can do.

  2. Not to topic jack here, I'm going to though, I have a little bit of a different what I got today.  I got a nice promotion today from the President of the company I work for.  I'm going to be one of those Management types.  I'm covering 7 states in the Western US.  I've got Hawaii and Alaska mixed in there, breaks my heart.  Will be getting some new gear soon.  Celebrating this evening, for sure!

That's one way to put it, I'll just say with less controversy, it sound better, I'm expected to be nice or at least not go off on people, it kind of sucks.

C'mon, just go off on them.  The rest of us would enjoy it.

  4. Did any of you pay attention to what was running the speakers at your test/seller source versus what you're running them with?  I've read it here many times where an AVR is not nearly as good as a dedicated 2 channel setup, too much processing.  The Elite VSX-53 appears to have a host of different processing components that could be causing your sound to suffer if not setup right.

If you have a 'Source Direct' mode on your receiver I would try that.  Positioning of the speakers is crucial, with or without toe-in, distance from the wall, corners, absorption and diffraction, cancellation, modes, etc. will all wreak havoc on a system.  As many others here have said, a microphone and dedicated sound analyzing software can show you worlds about your room.  Small rooms present problems, I know, I have one in my basement where my little HT setup is.

There is also a situation with new gear, whether used or new, that I consider the dial-in, adjustment, break-in, period.  I remember when I got my first SVS cylinder sub.  I thought it sucked to start, but after many nights listening, adjusting, positioning, the sub eventually got to the point that it would rattle the house, sounded amazing to me.  Also, I would definitely check the polarity/wiring of all of the drivers, source to speaker, to ensure that there are no mistakes.

I just have a hard time believing that a good set of RF-7's would suffer from bass response.  I still use old KG 5.5's with dual 10's in a large room and a junk AVR and they rock pretty hard.

Anyway, thoughts from an elementary audio enthusiast.  Hope you get them running as you expect they should be.

I had to bbq this evening.   Mowed when I had time.

Typically I walk about 40 minutes outside at lunch every day .  I'm pretty much used to it.

You know it's hot when a man says, "I had to bbq this evening."  Not a usual complaint from most.  Hang in there bro, hang in there...

Heat indexes have been over 100 all day today.  I mowed at about 130 this afternoon.  It was warm out.

Warm??  I would have stroked out for sure.  I mow in the mid 60's and I'm getting toasty.  Maybe you could have waited until the evening to mow?  I know, it's all what were used to.

So, what happens when I enter your property with not so honorable means?  I hope you release the hounds.  Good looking dogs.

do you really think drone are covered by the same parameters as fixed wing general and commercial aviation?

I dont know if they are or are not, but i just saw a story on network news that dealt with this very subject of privacy and drone usage and they said that very thing... drones are covered under the FAA and anyone taking one down "MAY" face federal charges... not local charges.

From what I understand, yes, they are to file a flight plan just as a private/commercial jet, or plane, would.  I don't know if this ever stuck, but I do remember it as a discussed regulation.

Years and years ago some friends and I went to the (Iron Horse?) where they had a house drink called a Derailer. It came in a big bucket.

We convinced the folks that we wanted a double Derailer. The drink was strong enough to start melting the plastic bucket...you could taste it in the drink!

One between three of us, and we were trashed.

Iron Horse Bar & Grill.  Derailer's are meant to do just that.  The wife's folks had one of the 'Mai Tai' buckets to themselves.  Let's just say, we were having fun today.

FYI... drones are covered by the FAA so if you destroy a drone that is flying, you could face possible federal criminal charges.

Has the operator filed a flight plan with the FAA before flying though?  I thought that this was part of the package.

BTW.  The Dirt album is one of my favorites of all time.  You can get a new CD from amazon prime for $6.83 shipped.  Freakin' no brainer.

Right there with you.  I still have my original copy.

  12. Just posted this over in RTM.  Figured I'd post it here as well..

    Hey all.  Just got back from the Car d'Alene in Couer d'Alene, ID.  They block off the streets in downtown CDA, car's line them on each side, there's an auction, music, some live, food and drinks of all flavors.  The wife and I shared a Mai Tai that came in a bucket.  Sunny, some clouds, 70 degrees, and your right by the resort and CDA lake, near perfect.  Here's some pics that my daughter took;

This was my favorite of the day.  Was really nicely done.

Nope. No. Not clicking on it. Lol. That's just...not happening.

Somewhere this thread has turned a corner.  I really hope that the drone that was taking shots is not capable of a probe.

  14. Happy Father's Day weekend!  Not a Dad, well, happy weekend to you!  Tarheel, Tigerman just got a pair of those as well.  He was similarly happy.  Touted their width and expression against his K-Horns??!!  Might have to check these out.  I'm still running my old 5.5's.  Glad you like them.  Cheers all, one beer down, more to go.

  15. Leaning away from the audio realm, I have to air my disdain for drones with cameras on them.  Tonight, I'm in the backyard with one of my daughters and a drone comes flying above our yard, but not over our yard.  We live at the back corner of an elementary schoolyard.  The drone was over the schoolyard, not over my property, yet it hovers, rotates to where I can see the lens aiming at me, and holds it's position.

The operator repeats this scenario a couple of more times.  At this point, I want to kick somebody's a**.  I want to remove the drone's ability to fly via Remington.  Don't own one, but I'd buy one for this purpose.  Ultimately, in my eyes, my privacy has been violated.  I know we're in the age of cameras everywhere, but when is it too much?

If there were drones flying around with no cameras, I'd have no issue.  Every generation loses more of their civil liberties.  It's OK to them because it's what they know.  Remember to teach what patriotism and freedom mean.  Crucial.

OK, I feel better now.  Back to the music.  All hail Klipsch.....

Lol, had my first Coors legally on Lake Meade. Sunbathing on the hood of my rental car. Low humidity and cold beer, I was made.

Of course had to rely on the Bandit before then...east of the Missisip...:) Cheers

    Having my regulars, ATM...:emotion-22::emotion-46:

Nothing wrong with that.  Sounds ideal.  I rolled through Mississippi when I wan younger, coming from Louisiana, family there.  I do enjoy the regulars....
