  1. Seems that you and Oscar know what I am trying to achieve. I am not trying to make the center channel prominent, just get the mids and highs a little bit more anchored to the TV and not so spread out to the main speakers. I know that most woofers will not really match well with the 12" woofers of the KLF-30's. Though if this project requires an expensive crossover then I will probably just go ahead and get the KLF-C7 and call it a day. I thought I would explore this issue before I went ahead and spent the money on the C7.
  2. I know that some have made the CRAZY large center channel out of an extra KLF-30 to match with KLF-30 fronts. I am wanting to do the opposite, I just want to make a center channel out of the horn midrange and horn tweeter. The only issue I am up against is that I know NOTHING about crossovers, where would I get one from for this specifc endeavor, could I just buy one from somewhere/someone that would work? I don't see a problem with this set up, I have PLENTY of midbass and bass, just want to anchor some of the vocals to the screen with a matching KLF-30 midrange and tweeter. I am almost happy with having no center, but some of the vocals get a little lost when sitting in the different seating positions.
  3. I got the dust cap about 90% off and was able to get out the "mystery" object. It was actually two pieces of tinsel lead, one being about a quarter inch long the other about an eighth of an inch long. I reglued the dustcap on with super glue, and it is holding quite well so far.
  4. Well unless others have some input, I will just be using cyanoacrylate glue to put the dust cap back on. Now I just have to get the dust cap off without damaging it.
  5. Should I just use cyanoacrylate gel to reatach the dust cap, on weldbond's website it states that it doesn't bond well with different types of plastics.
  6. I believe that the dust cap is plastic, and the cone is coated with some sort of plastic, am I assuming wrong?
  7. Is this the stuff to use? Doesn't mention plastic as one of the things it is used to bond. http://www.weldbondusa.com/
  8. I noticed on my KLF-30's that one of the woofers had a rattle to it, so I was instantly worried, only happened to notice it at the beginning of transformers when optimus prime was talking without much mid or tweet involvement. I took the woofer out, and was puzzled to find that there is a piece of something rattling around inside the dust cap. It is a very small piece of something, but I can get it to rattle around freely when lightly shaking the woofer (carefully of course) There is a screen on the inside of the vent on the back side of the woofer, so I can't get the piece out that way, so should I try and gently pry up the dust cap? Please advise me guys, I haven't tried anything like this before.
  9. I get that a lot when I post pics of my front speakers and TV. The main seating area sits about 18 feet from the TV, so it works out pretty good for viewing the TV, though it is not ideal.
  10. I sold my RF-3's and RC-3 last week, and I bought a pair of black KLF-30's from Speakmeister (Dan) in Denver. It was a long trip from Kansas City, did it all in one day, so I spent all of about 30 minutes last night getting the KLF-30's hooked up and ran a quick audyssey calibration. Wasn't very impressed with what Audyssey did, I believe that audyssey actually turned down my main speakers to match with the surrounds. So I am going to mess with things tonight manually to get things matched up and take advantage of teh KLF-30 high sensitivity. I am so excited about these monsters, will post pictures tonight.
  11. I just changed my main speakers to KLF-30's (Higher sensitivity than the RF-3's I used to have) no seperate amplifier, but I believe that audyssey actually turned down my main speakers to match with my rear speakers. Anyone else see this issue before? I will have to go in and manually mess with it in the Denon programming, though I haven't done that before, before I just let audyssey do its thing.
  12. I may have found an awesome deal on some practically new KG 5.5 speakers. My only question is how much should I pay (they are black veneer) and they are in excellent condition. Also, would this be a good upgrade from my rf-3 speakers? Would I HAVE to get a new center? I love that the KG 5.5 speakers are ported in the front, because I can't pull my speakers very far from the wall and with the front port this would be a non issue. Thanks for any advice guys!
  13. I was simply wondering what kind of current the drivers are able to handle when driven towards their limit.
  14. I noticed that it turned my sub way down, so I just upped the gain on it to where I like it. Thanks for the reply michael!
  15. When using audyssey will it just turn your main speaker output down to match the rest of the system if you have a seperate amp running the main speakers? So you would have to set everything up manually if you are using a seperate amplifier for your main speakers?-
  16. no it's not- about 2 db worth. I said " it would be nice to know what these speakers are built to handle..." I know that it isn't a huge audible difference, but as far as heat is concerned it is a big difference, is it not?
  17. I understand what you're saying, but it would be nice to know what these speakers are built to handle, 150 and 225 is a huge difference!
  18. I was looking at the RF-3 specifications on the klipsch website and it says 150 watts continuous, but the pdf manual states 225 watts continuous. Which one is correct?
  19. Looking for a little guidance on this option. I am looking online and seeing some non working 3808 receivers for sale. If I can get one of these for around $200 do you think it would be possible to get one fixed for less than $400 which would make it a great deal? I just thought to ask, I have never had to get quotes on receiver fixes. I just thought I would ask in case this is an option that others have explored, I understand that the risk may be too large, and this may not be a very good idea.
  20. Thank you SO much for the guidance guys! Now it is just a matter of figuring out if I want to sell my Denon 2308 or keep it and just save for the better receiver. Any other input is greatly appreciated! I am going to try to find a deal on a Denon AVR-3808, I can dream can't I?
