Thanks guys, I thought it was a pretty nice score. Guess I better not say what I got the rest of my speakers for, I've been very lucky... I figured the same thing Youthman, they should work just as good as the 75's for rear duty. I just realized they may fit even better in my system because I have RS-7's as side surrounds which have an 8" woofer and 1" tweeters, just the same as the RB-5 ll's. So my front three match, and now my four surrounds. Oh- and the Wheaties box is NOT for sale I collect souveniers from most St.Louis Cardinals World Series Championships, and as you may guess, that is a LOT of stuff because the Cardinals have the 2nd most Championships ever, behind only the Yankees! It's quite the obsession for me Take care!

Hi everybody! I was pretty excited to get home today with a pair of RB-5 ll's and stands that I picked up here locally for $150! When I saw the ad for 2 cherry RB-5 ll's already on a nice pair of stands I called the guy right away and said "I'm on my way!" As many of you know I am working on my HT of 2 RF-7 mains, an RC-7 center, 2 RS-7 surrounds, 2 RSW-15 subs, and up until now I have been using 2 RS-3 ll's as rear surrounds until I could find a pair of bookshelf speakers that I wanted. To be honest I was holding out for a pair of RB-75's to feel like I had a complete reference 7 series set. Anyways I figured I would snag this pair of RB-5 ll's up at this great price, then sell my RS-3 ll's, and use the RB-5 ll's as rears until I found a good pair of RB-75's for a decent price that would eventually take their place. I figured when I replaced the RB-5 ll's with the RB-75's I could even sell the RB-5 ll's for a pretty good profit. That WAS the plan. But then about an hour ago I hooked these RB-5 ll bad boys up in place of my RF-7s in front so I could see what kind of speaker I was dealing with. To say the least I was BLOWN AWAY by the sound quality of these RB-5 ll's! I was not expecting the music or movies to sound anything near that good with the bookshelf speakers hooked up as mains! I was very surpised because I bought these are "surrounds" thinking they would be ok, wow did I underestimate these things! So I began thinking, if they are this good in front, they will do the job perfectly as rear surrounds. In fact I bet I would have a hard time noticing the difference of this pair compared to a pair of RB-75s used as rear surrounds for a movie. For one the rear surrounds dont really do much work, so to me they will be as good as RB-75s in that spot, and secondly- these speakers kick ***!!! Overall they are in good shape, which at this price was just another plus for me, I would give them an 8.5/10. After this post I am going to hook them up as the back surrounds, and watch a loud movie! I was thinking Hellboy 2 on Blu Ray with DTS HD-MASTER 7.1 audio!!! Hey guys it looks like the decision was made for me, which in a way is a relief I waited a bit too long trying to decide between this extra pair of RF-7's or sticking to my original plan to get an XPA-5. So it looks like I will be getting a shipment from Emotiva some time after Christmas. I am comfortable sticking with my RS-7 as surrounds as I do use my HT mostly for movies. I'm glad some of you knocked some sense into me that the RS-7s are great surrounds for movies, otherwise I probably would have gone right out and bought the towers. Although now that the thought of a HT full of RF-7s is in my head, I will probably try to make it happen someday! For now I just need to save up for a few amps and a nice xmc-1, it's long past due that I jump into nice seperates. Falcon- a while back I saw a lone black RF-7 for sale here locally, they wanted $400 for it but that was a few months ago now. If I run into one I'll let you know. Thanks guys.

Yes, they hit hard- and I never come close to turning them all the way up! They are absolutely awesome with music, and they do a good job with the movies as well, and I use my speakers about 95% for movies and tv. When the wife isn't around I do shake the house with music though! Anyways good luck with your setup! If I ever run into any more great local klipsch deals that I dont need for myself I will let you know about it. Too bad I sold my old 12" klipsch sub a few months back, I would have given it to you for $150. Take care.

Good decision Natas. I would recommend getting the XPA-5 amp before the end of the year sale is up, it would save you $100! But you will have to wait for those dang umc's or xmc's to finally come out! Good luck with your system.

Pronex, my wife was probably a lot like yours. She enjoyed the Quintets and didn't understand why I went and spent so much money for what I told her was a "slight upgrade." I have to say she didn't like all the spending, but I rationalized saying I was selling the Quintets and KSW-12 (like that was really going to help pay for the new set of speakers But, after everything was setup for the first time with both RSW-15's she looked at me in disbelief which turned into a huge smile. She said, "well maybe its not that bad, we will never have to pay for movie tickets ever again." She is very patient with me, and very supportive, lucky me

Well as far as the sudden "jump" from one system to another "upgraditis," I though mine was pretty crazy. Now as far as multiple systems and extra equipment go, yes Falcon, I am not nearly as crazy as you! Luckily I am completely content with ONE nice system- well at least for now... I couldn't possibly use all those speakers, but don't feel bad, my wife would be calling me a complete psycho if I had all that extra equipment Hasta Luego

Well personally I have had 3 different Denon receivers (3803, 3805, currently 2808ci), and loved every one of them. In fact I probably won't ever use a different brand of receiver. But hopefully that wont matter soon, unless I'm talking about my bedroom system, because I hope to be moving up to seperates (that is if I can ever stop spending on klipsch speakers). I strongly second falcon's suggestion of the emo xmc-1 (or umc-1) along with an xpa-5 amp. That would be an awesome system of seperates for much less then 2k, and it is the exact route I plan on taking. Listen to Falcon- he really seems to know what he's talking about! Inventor, I have never actually seen an 805 in action, but before you I had only ever heard good things about it, especially for the price. What do you not like about it? I'm curious because I'd like to forewarn my father-in-law who is planning on getting an 805 for himself soon. So I would appreciate your take on it. Thanks.

Thats funny. A while back my wife and I were so naive that we were content running a lowly set of Quintet ll's with a KSW-12 sub. I finally got bit so hard that I skipped the synergy lines along with the middle reference lines entirely, and went from the lowest klipsch line straight on up to the flagship reference series seven setup!!! Now how's that for a hard bite? We now live in Klipsch bliss, and we would never go back..... Now as far as the Heritage line goes, I "hear" that is a completely different addiction- which is why my wife makes sure to keep me far, far away....

Hey everybody, I was hoping to get a few different opinions from some other Klipsch freaks like myself. Right now I'm running RF-7 mains, RC-7 center, RS-7 surrounds, RS-3ll rears, and two RSW-15 subs. I was going to use what little bit of extra cash I have to get an amp, an emotive XPA-5, but I have a chance to pick up a 2nd pair of RF-7's instead So my situation is this- I would love to grab this extra pair of RF-7's and finally be rid of the RS-3ll rears that dont match the rest of the series seven set. If I do so, I would be running the new pair of RF-7's either as side surrounds or rear surrounds. I know the RS-7's sound better as side surrounds (at least in my opinion) which means I would just put the towers in place of the current RS-3ll's in the back. But on the other hand I feel like the rear surrounds really dont do much work, so the RF-7's would be better utilized at the sides, with the RS-7's picking up the rear surround duties. Opinions on which of these two options each of you would go with? Or maybe I wouldn't notice a big enough difference for the money, and I should just stick to my original plan of getting the amp? If I do get this second pair of RF-7's, my eventual goal will be to pick up a third pair, and just have a straight RF-7 with one RC-7 center HT setup which I think would be pretty damn cool. Of course then I would run into the problem of whether or not to replace the lone RC-7 center with another RF-7! Haha- decisions, decisions Opinions are MORE than welcome.... Thanks guys!

Hi Runninshine, too bad I didn't see this thread earlier! I live in Payson, about 40 minutes south of Sandy. I wouldn't consider myself an "expert" but I've hooked up my fair share of avr's in the last couple of years If you need anymore help with anything just let me know, I'd be more then happy to make the drive up there.
