I have a pair of Forte IIs and I am powering them with a B&K AV5000II(125Wpc x 5) and the sound is fantastic. The B&K is one of the more "laid back" amps out there and it mates up wonderfully with the Fortes. Not to bright, but great detail and bass -- in my opinion it is a great match. I am sure that any of the B&K Amps or Reference series amps would make you happy. You can find them on Audiogon all the time. I have seen the AV500II go for $700. Hope this helps. Thanks Mustang6

My brother has the Outlaw 1050 which is running a pair of ARs it it sounds great. Much better than the Kenwood he replaced. My dad, being the skeptic that he is decided to get one also to power his KLF30s, RC3, RS3 setup. I set it up for him and did an extensive listening demo. All I have to say about it is it just sounded fantastic. Not harsh just smooth and clean. Don't let the 65wpc fool you. Plenty enough for the Klipsch. The only reason I don't have one is that I have separates. You are giving up some features, but you need to decide if you will even use those that are only in the Denon. Both products will perform well, but for my money I like the sound of the Outlaw. I have heard the Denon also and it sounded good, but in my opinion not as good as the Outlaw and I would give up features for sound any day. Hope this helps. Mustang6

I will be using a Sherwood Newcastle R-956 as the preamp. It has a ton of inputs and outputs and it will do DTS ES and DD EX. The good news is that I will be picking up the B&K tomorrow and he will let me try it first before I buy it. If it is sounds great, I will buy it. I guess I get the best of both worlds here -- try before I buy and what I think is a good price. Thanks Mustang6

I have a chance to pick up a B&K AV5000II 5ch amp in mint condition for $700.00. It is about a year old. I have Klipsch Forte IIs and KLF c-7 up front. Has anyone tried this B&K or a similar B&K product with klipsch speakers. I would like to know how it sounded for 2 ch music as well as movies. Any info would be helpful. Thanks

I am looking at getting a new 5 channel amp to go with my Newcastle R-956 which I will use as the front end. I am looking for an amp with about 165wpc - 200wpc. My front speakers are a pair of Forte IIs with KLF-C7. I am looking for a very smooth sounding amp which can deliver the power. I am also looking for the "Best Bang for the Buck" product. Decibel Man My brother has the Outlaw receiver. All I can say is that it is one of the best sounding receivers I have seen. A great value for the money. They spent the money inside of the unit where it counts. Overall I would highly recommend the Outlaw. It will not do DTS ES, it will do DD EX or also known as THX EX. As far as the 5.1 and the 6.1 out there here is what I know(or think I know): Dolby Digital 5.1 - Dolby Labs DTS - which is a competitor to Dolby Labs Both above formats are 5.1: Left Front, Center, Right Front, Left Rear, Right Rear, and LFE(some call it subwofer out(.1)) Then DTS came out with DTS ES: Same at DTS with the addition of a matrixed rear center. To counter, Dolby labs working with THX came out with: THX EX also known as Dolby Digital EX, this includes a matrixed rear center channel. You will never hear Dolby Labs call it 6.1. Then to one up Dolby labs, DTS came out with: DTS ES 6.1 Discrete. This has a true encoded dicrete rear center channel, it is not matrixed. In all formats the channels are full range with the exception of the LFE. In Prologic(Dolby Labs): This consists of Left Front, Center, Right Front and Matrixed mono rear channel in a specific frequency range. To sum up the formats are: Dolby Prologic Dolby Digital 5.1 DTS Dolby Digital EX or THX EX DTS ES DTS ES 6.1 Discrete I hope this helps. My dad just ordered the RF-3s, RC-3, and the RS-3s on Jan. 16, 2001 from J & R. He called them and ordered over the phone. He will have them Monday. I am not sure if their policy has changed in the last few days. Thanks Mustang6
